you know, DN was being held in a jail on other charges too..they managed to come out and give him the thumbs down within a mater of a few weeks time..once they went to CO to take a look they pretty much ruled him out and said so.

Hmm, I really hope you are right. My thinking on this, however, is different and based in part on the opinions of the criminologist/behavioral analyst seen in this video from HLN about the Delphi murders. This was the "extra" Youtube special that HLN showed in conjunction with their two part episodes on Delphi earlier this year:

Watch what the expert has to say at around minute 3, minute 9 and minute 42. At each point she talks about the importance of keeping information (I would assume, accurate information) about this case in the forefront of media to assist in solving it. She makes the point that many cases are solved because people realize, years later, that they know something that they did not realize they knew.

She also talks about the "pall of denial" and how that impacts people's ability to come forward to LE with important, definitive information. The factor that tips the scales for them is likely not the reward but the mental state of coming to the realization that they can no longer deny what they know.

If opinions stated as facts and rumors are allowed to take hold on message boards like WS and other sources of information for the public, how might this contribute to the "pall of denial" that prevents some crimes from being solved, or being solved until years later? Just food for thought.

I would also add that some cases are solved years later because the person offends again and is apprehended, or other people that may have also been involved in the crime offends gets caught and opens up about ther involvement in the previous crime.
Personally I think someone who witnessed it will be how this case will be solved.

My opinion only

It took five months before LE said they weren’t much interested. Even then those who were convinced he was the The One continued on and on, so certain were they that LE was just being sly, particularly when he was brought back to Indiana. I’m sure you must remember, as you’ve followed this case closely.

Lesson Learned - Until such time as LE announce charges being laid we don’t know who will be charged. We also haven’t been informed of their other possible suspects who are also on their radar who haven’t been highlighted in the news, therefore their names haven’t been publicly connected to the murders of Abby and Libby. Hopefully charges will happen sooner than later.

I’d be curious why someone who witnessed the murder of two teens would stay silent and sit back and allow the families and searchers to look for two lost girls that night and following day, rather than report the crime to LE, not even anonymously? I don’t think such a witness would carry much credibility, especially four or more years later.

IMO no need to misquote him, he misspeaks on his own often enough. Of course they are looking into JBC. I don’t think it’s anything more than that. I think the “blackout” is because JBC was trying to use his notoriety and rumors of a connection to Delphi to weasel out of his current situation. Not because there’s really any connection between JBC and Delphi. They want to protect the current case against him. Again IMO.
I thought it was just a change of venue he was looking for? I don't see any way for him to weasel out of the charges from the little nine year old victim, even if he gets his change of venue. AJMO

let me clarify. it was only weeks after the LE interviewed DN in jail and were able to physically see him and possibly get physical evidence, that they were no longer interested in him. mOO

Many weeks, after LE interviewed him in jail it was actually five long months before they announced they were no longer interested. What does that prove other than LE isn’t driven by rumours, hunches and speculation?

The first DN stories began circulating in Sep/17
3 years unsolved: A look back at the Delphi murder case
Sept. 28, 2017

A Colorado Sheriff's Department contacted Indiana State Police about similarities in a case there to the one in Delphi. Daniel Nations was officially declared a 'person of interest.'

Sept. 29, 2017

Indiana investigators travel to Colorado to interview Daniel Nations to see if he has any connection to the Delphi case.

It wasn’t until Feb/18 when they announced they weren’t much interested.
Daniel Nations no longer a major concern in Delphi murders
“As you all know, we went out to Colorado and we spent a little bit of time with him [Daniel Nations], and he's not a person we care a whole lot about at this time," Superintendent Douglas Carter with the Indiana State Police said Tuesday. “Until somebody is arrested, we’re interested in almost everybody.”…”

I believe coming forward with definitive knowledge will either happen or not based on the person's character. We all know what's the right thing to do. People who realize something of value years later also have to decide if they will come forward and do the right thing.

After four years of tipping, all the may be of value tips, things people saw or heard from scuttlebutt, all the unusual things noted about people or vehicles seen, those have been turned in by folks trying to help. Nobody's going to change minds like theirs about tipping based on things discussed about JBC in the past months.

The people that would after four years hold back info are the ones who know who killed Libby and Abby and continue their silence for their long established reasons. Not talking about other suspects doesn't change that in the least. AJMO

No. But I don't think telling one reporter that you aren't going to comment on any possible suspects is the same as "announcing JBC is a suspect."
Well he's quoted as saying JBC or any other suspects. That's what makes it different to me and yes names JBC as a suspect. If the quote is accurate.

Early on IIRC LE claimed they’d spoken with everyone who was on the trails except the man on the bridge (the reason he was declared the suspect) so I’d be very surprised if someone neglected to mention witnessing a murder while being interviewed. But I’ve not lost hope that someone who is aware of important incriminating information regarding the suspect’s activities that day will spill the beans some day.

Jconline is subscriber pay but according to a google summary, it mentions “possible suspect” as well.

ETA - If taken literally, if the reporter’s question referred to JBC as a “possible suspect”, should we all jump on he bandwagon and interpret the blackout to mean there indeed are other suspects, not including JBC who’s still yet a “possible”, not yet confirmed? Let’s not forget the fact we all know this isn’t the first time reporting about this case has been ambiguous.

That or someone discovers something that was either taken from the girls or has blood evidence on it. We can only keep praying for justice for Libby and Abby.

This does not stop cops from arresting, interrogating, or moving forward. There is just no way in the world they know who did it and are letting a double murderer wander free bc mom says they were at home, or whatever the idea is.

Maybe they think they know who did it but have no evidence to prove it and there’s an alibi, but if there is evidence to prove anything they’d already have arrested this person.
It would probably play into it if the alibi was someone of standing in the community or even if it was multiple family members giving the alibi. That would make it difficult, especially as it seems the Delphi killer didn't leave enough DNA evidence, to convict them, at the crime scene.

In my opinion, this is a very black and white way of looking at it. Yes it'd be great if everyone who knew something of value was able to decide to come forward and do the right thing. I think the reality is more nuanced.

You can't imagine how someone who has the "pall of denial" might look for reasons not to come forward or reasons to convince themselves what they think might not be true? How they might cling to things like people saying "they got him! It's JBC and he did Evansdale too" in a Facebook group, because it's what they want to be true and it lets them avoid the harsh reality?

If the families of the victims weren't also worried about this, would they be so upset with people who are posting these types of things? About JBC and others?

Their long established reasons for not reporting IMO aren't influenced because of social media discussions. They just don't want to talk regardless.

Honestly, I think it could go either way as far as why the family members are upset by it...the other way being they don't want any good suspect talked about. AJMO

It has to be very difficult if DNA is inconclusive or only mitochondrial or even lost, I wonder if they can even talk to JBC or if he's not talking to them..this can really make things difficult..they have to try to piece together all of his movements and what people might have knowledge of his whereabouts at different times..he also got a new phone according to his Facebook..they will have to find all his phones and that's just a start..no to mention all the forensics they have to do looking for kiddie 🤬🤬🤬🤬 etc..being that this person has assaulted a child. After watching so much Joe Kenda I think dreamt about Joe Kenda last night...I see how they have to keep looking for the one person who is going to connect the suspect to the time and place, or has heard a confession or has been a witness in some way either before, during or after..or if they find something physical to connect to the victims.

Joe says the one thing they never do is tell anyone jack squat about anything they are investigating. period.

Im going with JBC being a suspect and the one suspect that has shut down all out going communication on this case.

Here in the UK we have an excellent Social Security System which supports the type of people and households you mention both finacially and with goverment organisations who support their welfare needs . I understand not every country is able to offer this kind of financial and social welfare support.

Could I ask your opinion, for how long would you estimate $325,000 would support an average family in the U.S.?
We also have an excellent Social Security and disability system supporting households in need. I don't think that was the issue.

In my opinion, a 325k lump sum could support a family for decades if they handled it correctly.

On February 13, 2017 the body of a woman who had been shot in the head and thrown in The White River was discovered.

The victim was one of 178 people killed in Indianapolis in 2017.

An arrest took place on August 11, 2021.

From the article...

Indiana Man Charged with Murder in Cold Case of Mother of Three Who Was Shot in the Head and Thrown in River

This past May, a family member of Eaton’s allegedly came forward because they were “tired of carrying the weight of the information” after years of living in fear, according to the IMPD detective.

After that, six additional witnesses came forward who said the defendant often bragged about getting away with a murder on the river. They said that were threatened with death if they ever went to police–some even said they witnessed the shooting itself and then helped Eaton dispose of Boltinghouse’s body."

I am posting this not because I believe there is a connection to the Delphi case, but to show an example of a case in this same state where multiple people knew what happened, but were terrified to come forward.

It took over 4 years...but they've arrested someone.

Don't give up on the possibility that someone else may have key info on this case and finally do the right thing by Abby and Libby and come forward.
