The only twist in this case would be if they faked those girls death and their in protected custody or witness protection along with their Dad. After all nobody hears from him. I'm reaching but that would be the only earth shattering twist in this case that a person could believe.

There was a photo of Libby’s dad at one of the fundraisers in an article several months after the murders.

I'm inclined to believe that as well. I do believe there is a strong possibility that there is a tip or tips in those 50K tips on the killer. But it is probably hidden so well in there LE hasn't made the connection. If that is the case, one day someone with the sheriff's dept or ISP is going to see it if they start at the beginning going over the tips. It happened in the Tara Grinstead case - LE had their 'one tip' years before the arrest and have stated that they don't know how they missed it.

I thought this release and statement were very disappointing and lacking in any real hope that this investigation is coming to an end anytime soon.
Then, you watch Carter on the GMA clip and he sounds a lot more confident, completely different.
Who knows what to believe.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHO BG IS.

It could be someone known to LE (and LE is waiting on more evidence, something to seal the deal), or BG is completely unknown to LE.

He could have been previously interviewed and/or investigated during the course of this investigation, or not.

Abby and Libby could have been random victims or pre-targeted.

BG could have planned it, or it could have been a crime of opportunity.

The killer could be younger or older or in between.

The killer could be from the area, or not from the area or in between.

The killer could have a criminal record, or not have a criminal record.

The killer could have been on LE’s radar for another previous crime before the girls’ murders, and LE just hasn’t made the link yet, or not.

The killer could currently be on the radar for an unconnected crime committed since the girls’ murder, and possibly not charged or convicted(yet), or not.

BG could convicted of and be in custody for another crime, or not in custody for another crime.

LE might have the killer’s DNA, or they might not have the DNA.

The killer could be linked to other unsolved cases, or not be linked to any unsolved cases.

The killer could be linked to a since solved case, or not linked to since solved case.

The killer could be married or single or divorced.

He could have kids, or not have kids.

He could have been in a vehicle, or he could have been on a bike, or motor cycle, or camper, truck, bus, foot for that matter. Did we rule out the canoe theory, I ask half facetiously.

Was he off that day?

Does he have a job? If so, what job? Is his job seasonal, or contractual. Or is it more steady as far as locations goes.

Does he live in Indiana or another state?

Does he family in the area? Is he from the area? Is he still from the area or does he live somewhere else now.

Did he plan to be on the trails on that day or was it a spontaneous trip. And if he planned it, when did he plan it.

What is COD?

Has sexual assault been confirmed?

Is he a drifter or does he have a house, apartment, homeless, tent, train...

And what’s the deal with that weird PC. And “The Shack”.

Have they been able to definitively rule out prior POIs, like JBC or CE for example?

Etc, etc, etc...

Of course I have certain inclinations I lean towards (as we all do, as I said before I think BG is likely older IMO, had a gun, likely seasoned predator, maybe even SK, and the girls were random victims of a planned attack to rape and kill somebody. But again, it’s all opinion and now the deal with KAK/Shots

It’s all over the place, and really I could go on forever with these types of questions, as we have been..

So yeah, point is, I have no idea. JMO. None of us knows anything for sure beyond what LE has told us.

Also as I stated before, I haven’t processed or wrapped my head around the KAK and shots thing yet. I’m letting it “sit” for a while and just reading here before I attempt to make any connections or posts about it.

Highly unlikely. If either was still alive or even suspected of being able to be saved, we would’ve seen a huge flurry of EMS activity and ambulances racing to the hospital. No, I think it was obvious both girls were dead when their bodies were found. Moo

This is a wonderful list and your point is well made.
I would like to add that there is not one thing on your list that has ever been addressed by LE except that the killer “might” be local. That just emphasizes how little we’ve been told about this case.
Something has got to change. It seems to be headed nowhere.

One last note, as I get caught up and BEGIN to process the KAK/Shots thing, obviously this brings to the table the whole targeted thing, killer possibly knowing they were going to be there thing, SM, etc., but it also lends a possibly clue as to motive - LE has never confirmed sexual assault, but considering the latest stuff with KAK/shots, I think this can possibly bring us closer to the likeliness of motive being SA (which has always been my top theory, based on the other murders of children).

So, maybe that in itself is progress, a sexual element being brought to the table.

However, I don’t think we can say this positively, because saaaay for instance this lead turns out to be a dead end, then other possible theories still are on the table.

Maybe the new information released in December 2021 is important to the case? I don't know. Until you know what the police know it is hard to conclude anything. I do not think the new information is important because I see an older man over 50 in the video.

Every case starts out as a Day 1 case.

The cases I think about are the ones that are 20 or 30 years old where time starts to make people forget. This case is still popular and people will continue to follow it for a while. But even a case like this one can eventually become like those cases. I did not think at the beginning this case would be unsolved 5 years later.

Last note, sorry for so many posts, been a while, and I meant to bring this forward.

I’ve been thinking again, still, about “vantage point”, and perhaps hiding place if there was one, before actually meeting up with the girls, or did he stay mobile for a while, how long was he there beforehand, what time did he arrive, etc. etc.

Of course this has been discussed, but I’m wondering again about aerial views, and specifically topography, highest points on the terrain. If someone has input, perhaps from GH videos, that would be great, thanks.

Bringing forward topo maps etc., useful again for looking at entry exit points, trails, etc.

I happened to hear a radio interview today with Chief Deputy Mike Thomas of the Carroll County, Indiana Sheriffs Department. The chief deputy is usually responsible for the day to day operations of a sheriffs department but in the case of Carroll County I’m not so sure that’s the case.

it seems that Sheriff Tobe Leazenby is term limited and can’t run for re-election. The candidates to take his position are Mike Thomas, Tony Leggett, and some other guy. Three guys from the same department running against each other. All are Republicans and whoever wins the primary on May 3rd will be the new sherif. Tony Leggett also happens to be one of the two or three detectives assigned to the case.

Carroll County has a total of thirteen sworn officers. The sheriff, the chief deputy, two detectives, and nine patrol officers. That’s is not enough manpower to cover the county 24 hours a day. They must have some agreement with the state police to cover the remaining time.

Deputy Thomas claimed to not know who is investigating the case whether it be his department or the state police. He claimed to have never been invited into the “inner circle”. On the night that the girls were missing he claimed to not know anything about it and didn’t learn of the situation until he came to work the next morning. He also intimated that the weak spot on the department was the lack of skilled interviewers and if elected he was going to find some! He explained that Superintendent Carter has been the face of the investigation because “they are used to that sort of thing”. (Appearing before the press).

Before today I had thought that they had just not gotten the right break (I’ll refer you to my story of five years ago about cases that are meant to be solved). All of my thoughts have changed. Mike Thomas might be the best patrol officer in all of Indiana but the key to this case is that Carroll County is way over their heads in this one and I can’t figure out how the state police didn’t walk in and take the case from them.

Falcon, as verified LE, what is your take on Carter's comment about the additional 80-100 people after an arrest is made?

Random thought I don’t think has specifically occurred to me before, and not sure I’ve read it here. I might as well post it in the “great aim to post something not already posted”.

There is the, perhaps rare possibility, that they could could have two different CODs, depending how everything actually went down at the very end. Up to this point, I naturally thought, “I wonder if they (collectively) were shot, or strangled, or this or that other COD.

Point is, maybe they have different CODs (or not). Maybe unlikely, but who knows.

To be more specific, maybe the above is possible if he wanted to get one victim out of the way more quickly, and spend more time with the other, ugh I hate to type that. Maybe one victim was immediately/quickly shot, and the other killed in a more hands on way, strangulation/ligature, BFT, drowning, stabbing.
