I think if they knew and trusted him they might not have videoed him. But they may have known men they did not trust who they would have been alarmed to see follow them across that bridge.

I think if one victim met the murderer thru an online avenue, they both lied about their ages. Upon meeting F2F things went drastically wrong, obviously. Moo

I think your view is slightly askew. ;) Just kidding. But seriously, as long as tips are coming in and there's a face to look for, the case is at least warm.

At present yes I'd say warm, and they are looking I think in the right direction. Nothing L.E. has stated gives me any reason to think they have anything but a two year old sketch, dna not in the system and have no idea who did this. A profile and an old sketch. I am hopeful a tip will direct them, though 2 years is along time.

Why do you think LE didn’t release the sketch 2 yrs. ago?
Perhaps they were confident that the original sketch was of BG.

Releasing that second sketch would muddy the waters, and have the public looking for the wrong man.

One of two things likely happened:

They no longer believe that witness.

They think the other guy is more likely to be BG. This would have required some sort of compelling evidence.

Regardless of the “why,” this was a move that they wouldn’t have taken lightly.

I thought I read “somewhere” that LE sent “something” away to be tested in December 2018. Could the results have just come back?

Absolutely, Mercedes!

Go cold? This case has been cold for 2 years.

Nope. It's not cold. A cold case is one that is no longer the subject of an active investigation. Clearly this one is.

Nothing suggests they're not working it hard.

IMO they've been working with profilers and are doing what they're doing strategically.

The suspect would have to see the post on Snapchat of them on the bridge and really high tailed it up there to be shortly recorded behind them on said bridge.
Not a Snapchat user, but at that time did Snapchat have the same location services it has today? My son can mark his location in Snapchat and then see what other people are posting from the same location. For example, he does this to share picture with friends at amusement parks. If they had that 2 years ago, the perp could have seen the picture the girls posted because he was already in the area. Any thoughts?

I know. But I still consider the perp is at least a friend of a friend of a friend.

I agree. I did a quick google search for curiosity sake "church youth leader and crime" and I was blown away how often this happens. This occupation, scout leaders, coaches, teachers, police, etc. are all trusted positions and perps have used these positions to hide. Everyone that knew these girls or had access to them needs to be carefully looked IMO.

I would think LE would need something more significant than possible cell phone pinging to get a warrant. Also, I don't think pinging can pinpoint a phones location to a specific house but maybe someone here with more knowledge about cell phones can answer.

IIRC Police were looking for something in the grass at a house on Bicycle
Bridge Road.

It made me think he expects it to remain unsolved as he will take his last breath still hoping to find the ghoul who did this. They chased a ghost for 2 years, and are now back to nothing

I respect your opinion and completely understand, but after some thought I see it differently. What they do have is two years worth of investigative work under their belts. Interviews, cellular data, (any) DNA, all the things that can take so long to obtain now in a database. IMHO that gives them a huge leap over going back to the beginning with just nothing.

I'm still blown away by the fact that people don't want to trust the prominence of the new sketch or the redirection by police because "they spent all this time on the first idea and it's apparently not real, so how can we trust them now?"

Information changes how cases are perceived and what information is being sought out all the time. I'm just curious as to what the alternative is meant to be.

They are prosecuting so many people here in my state that have religious affiliations. It's crazy. Things tend to be a bit lax here. So not so surprised. I was a youth leader and nursery worker in my church. I had to to get background checked. NOt saying it is lke that in Indiana now. I dont know anything about the girls are their families beliefs and pratices. I'm sure LE has addressed this issue.

That's true, but if he said, "We know you eat vegetables," or "We know you like life on the road," those would only be a few words but they wouldn't be random. Instead, he seemed to indicate they know he has some religious background that would reinforce a conscious in him (or someone who knows him).

Not random or meaningless, imo. But what do I know.

It's a small town, right? I mean I'm sure they've profiled and most people in the area are likely to be religious?

Indiana in general is fairly religious. I don't think any comments suggest the person in question is a religious leader of some sort.

I agree. After hearing about the vehicle at the press conference, I have been thinking BG arrived before the girls and waited for them to be dropped off. He knew they would be there.

Scary.

jmo
Is this the correct timeline? They asked to go around 11:30 or 11:45. BP made them do some work for her in the office. He may have arrived about 12. They didnt get there until 1:30 or 1:45.
But they seem confident that he was not in direct contact with them beforehand. Yet we know they communicated with some other friends to meet up with them there.

Exactly. The investigation isn’t starting over.

They’ve been looking for BG all along, they were just looking for a man with a different appearance.

One Year Later: Why the Delphi case isn't cold

“DELPHI, Ind. -- “It’s not going to be a cold case, it’s not.”

Although a year has passed since the murders of Delphi teens Liberty German and Abigail Williams, Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter says he will not let the case go cold before their killer is found.

“I’ve said all along, as long as I’m in this role and breathing, we’re not leaving the City of Delphi in Carroll County, Indiana, we’re just not,” said Carter. “And if we get to the point where we have exhausted the leads that we currently have in the queue then we’re going to start all over again.”“

“This is not a cold case,” Carroll County Prosecutor Nicholas McLeland said in February, ...

“Even though it's been two years, investigators all agree on one thing — this is not a cold case.

"It's not a cold case until we have investigated every lead and tip that we have," Holeman said. "You have to stop having information. You have to have no more investigative leads. You have to have exhausted all efforts. We're not even close to that."

Carroll County Sheriff Tobe Leazenby said they have received tips from nearly every state in the country and they aren't out of leads yet.

"A true cold case, if you will, is when you have no information to follow into any further," Leazenby said. "So, it’s as if the simple way I put it, if the well went dry. Our well is not dry. There is still information being followed into.””

I went for a walk along the river with my friend in suburb of Chicago, and there was a man who kept showing up around us. He would be out in front and then we would pass him standing off to the side of the trail. He would pass us again and then come back walking towards us only to pass us again from behind. It definitely creeped me out and my head was on a swivel trying to keep one eye on him and not let him surprise us around any corners. We are two adult women and I was weirded out, especially since I can’t carry my CHL in IL. I’ve had some defensive training so I knew keeping my head up and aware was my best option.

I could see a similar situation with the girls: He kept popping up and around them. Finally they figured they would try crossing the bridge to get away and yet he followed. They decided to record to weird guy to show a parent and unfortunately it didn’t work that way.

IMO.
I imagine it happening just as you described. I think a lot of us have had similar experiences, felt that uneasiness or just felt something wasn't right. I've told my nieces over and over to trust their instincts and not to ignore those signals.

Crazy how these creeps always pick people who aren't carrying. I won't go hiking or running without carrying!

Geezee how can this guy live with himself? How can he live day to day knowing what he did?? Its just crazy when you think about it. Especially now with such focus from the entire nation. Its on every TV channel night and day, its on the radio, its all over the internet......

My apologies if this has previously been posted... but I'm just curious if the video and recording of voice were all captured at once. Or was the video taken at one moment, turned off and then she started recording a second time. It may help identify the length of time between when she snapped the pic of him and when he was telling them "down the hill"

Around August 2017, I recall an interview of family which led me to believe that the video/audio was one stream, and that the recorded audio included the voices of all three -- BG, Libby, and Abby.

I believe LE efforts to exclude the chatter of the the girls is why the public has only heard one or two word soundbites of the audio with BG. MOO
