I gave my age so I don't know about that...I'm curious too..I would think there would be some cell degradation or something???

Telomeres are the ‘caps’ at the ends of DNA strands. They shorten with age, but I think that determining someone’s age from them is far from an exact science.

I think the sheriff knows exactly who the killer is. And this is a reference to something the killer can relate to.
I don't know if this has already been discussed, but a press conference being held on Easter Monday is really, really strange. Have there been press conferences on Catholic holidays before? It's not like there was some sudden development in the case that urged LE to do a presser on Easter. That was very, very deliberately chosen
IMO. That, as well as the reference to 'The shack' which has a religious theme as well, is no coincidence.
I think they know the killer is either a religious person. Or they might expect him to be at a family gathering for Easter and they planned this so they could observe his reaction to the presser.

I also wonder if there's a father and son involved in this case. When you look at both sketches, they could be a father and his son. Also the age range 16-40, could be a 16 year old and a 40 year old, so a father and a son. That combined with the reference to 'The shack' with complex father, son relationships as well as religion makes me wonder what is really going on here. And what exactly it is, that LE is doing.

But LE has stated one perp. Age range mid 20s - mid 30s.

I apologize for hitting a nerve with folks who are very sensitive to the SPED topic. To those of you who are not comfortable with my post, I ask this, “Have you personally looked at, educated and loved over 4,000 children and adolescents in a professional educational setting”? I have.
The issue isn’t an observation made when you have an accurate image of someone.

The issue is making that observation from a sketch, that may or may not resemble an actual person.

Everyone must be tired tonight due to the repetitious questions or statements being made.

Please, let’s not get shut down due to mods thinking we are nit-picking at each other.

It has been a busy week, with shocking news on the new sketch, and the missing little Andrew Freund Jr. case. TIA. :)

What was an accident? What are you talking about?
The family has said that when they posted the date of death with the funeral arrangements they were in a state of shock. I will look for the link

I don't need to have personally educated numerous sped students to know that it's unconscionable to make a judgement call on someone's intelligence or abilities by just looking at their eyes.

Man these threads are moving at warp speed. Whew! I'm traveling again so I'm hopelessly behind.

I for one am glad there is so much new media attention on Abby and Libby's case. LE has a new drawing of their suspect, they had to have made the decision to release it in a major PC very carefully. That along with the short "Guys, down the hill" audio clip might be enough for someone to connect the dots and identify him. His voice sounded calm and controlled to me and I really get the feeling the girls were not immediately scared of him.

Yeah, as of yet they can only get an approximation, so even if they had DNA they might not be able to get any more accurate age estimate.

As I understand it, part of the issue is that everybody's telomeres are a different length, so you don't have any way to know whether a particular individual's short telomere is from age or because they had shorter ones to begin with.

Someone once mentioned skipping every other page because you still see all the important stuff because it's usually quoted a lot.
ATM the wild speculating and rearranging facts has me reading maybe every 3rd page. :(

Terrible when there's no new facts in a case for us to discuss. It leaves is all feeling disheartened, and uhmmm... Kinda' cranky. (Me included)

Maybe something positive will happen soon!

BBM

Not looking up the article, but mothers of children with special needs typically have telomeres much more degraded than age alone would predict; stress & just plain sleep factors in the "aging" of telomeres.

Ok. I have to ask because now I am really confused. What do you or others think about this new sketch? This sketch was drawn on the memory of a witness based on an actual person.

I must have replied to the wrong post because I have zero issue with the date of death. Disregard. I thought I was replying to another poster. I'm sorry.
