I agree. I think it was a story that got retold incorrectly and/or somehow grew legs.
In the link I posted earlier, Libby’s mother and sister are interviewed and say that there was apparently people under the bridge. That link also says that there was a female hiker in the area too.

And that's why BG didn't see Libby videoing him, because Abby was blocking his view of Libby's phone. Reply

OMG. Yes! That would totally make sense. Do you know how many times I've wondered how she took that without him seeing it? That never even entered my mind. It was like I had some weird blind spot.

ETA: There was a female hiker on the bridge taking photos at the time the girls were murdered. Why did she not hear or see anything? Why did BG not target her or know she was in the area?

(Snipped for brevity). Maybe the hiker was not of his type? Ted Bundy’s victims bore a certain resemblance to one another and also, to his first love. Perhaps one of the girls was of his type? They were not kids, teenagers, I assume no one would mistake them for adult women, but they were rather tall and attractive. Who knows what was in the perv’s head? Maybe they didn’t wear makeup, and he liked it? Or, he wanted to abduct one, but the other one was protecting her friend? Who knows how long was he lying there in wait, until “the right one” appeared on the bridge? Could it be that the date was more accidental, but instead, he was hunting around for a while? A few days?

I think he’d kill more, but the fact that he inadvertently started with two, and minors, scared him off. If he is not stopped, however, he will kill again, sooner or later.

The thing is, even if the sketch was wrong, the task force was still chasing down leads.

The sketch was only one part of the investigation, so it’s not like two years were wasted.

There were still plenty of other avenues to explore.

This new sketch represents newfound hope, not failure.
Well said , as usual!! I like your positive angle!

Does anyone else see a cigarette in the pic? Looks like BG is smoking to me??.?. Or am I seeing things?

There are strict rules and laws regarding the chain of custody for evidence.

I'm assuming the police can't turn the DNA over to a geneology company. I will look into it further.

Found this article in the Seattle Times dated 18th of May 2018
Talbott was identified through genetic genealogy, the same technique that led to the arrest last month of Joseph James DeAngelo, the alleged serial rapist and killer known as the Golden State Killer in California.

After DeAngelo’s arrest, some scientists and ethicists expressed concerns about law enforcement identifying suspects through the DNA of relatives, who used sites such as Ancestry.com or 23andMe to generate their own DNA profiles and then uploaded them to GEDmatch, a public genetic-genealogy website, The New York Times reported.

In April, investigators from Snohomish and Skagit counties announced they had sent DNA from Van Cuylenborg’s killer to Parabon NanoLabs, which provided scientific approximations of what the killer might look like based on traits embedded in his genetic code.

From there, a digital file containing DNA genotype data derived from the crime scene was uploaded to GEDmatch, and promising matches were found for two of Talbott’s relatives, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Parabon’s CEO, Steve Armentrout, said Friday his lab began offering genetic genealogy two weeks ago. He said the privacy concerns that have been raised are based on misconceptions and noted Talbott’s DNA profile was never made public on GEDmatch, never appeared in any queries, and complied with the site’s use

What’s crazy, is that they’ve identified over 40 suspects since that article was published.

Another one announced yesterday, and seemingly, one or two a week now.

Amazing stuff.

Who is CE? Could someone please point me in the right direction?

@ReckoningDay We are not permitted to talk about CE in the thread as he is not a person of interest in this case.

I agree. I thought that one still photo from way back was her too. If you put it in Photoshop or Snapseed and turn up the color saturation you can really tell its the same color as her shirt and sweater. That might help explain the low resolution video too. They originally had to cut out so much of it because it showed Abby.

That, and Abby would have filled quite a bit of the video . BG would have been way in the background.

Good post.

thank you I didn't realize between the girls being dropped off and the snapshot of BG was 22mins. I believe he followed the girls soon after being dropped off at 1:45pm. It's almost as if he was waiting for the girls. How long did it take the girls to reach the bridge. I understand Libby make a comment about a creepy guy. How soon after arriving did the girls see BG before he approached the girls at the end of the bridge.

Do you mean the SnapChat upload of Abby?

Forgive me if this has been discussed as of late, BUT this guy has been plastered all over the internet for TWO YEARS and he hasn’t come forward to say: “THATS ME in the photo. Take my DNA do whatever it takes to eliminate me so you can rule me out...” so that’s why I think this person is involved. Perhaps the new sketch was released to cause the killer to think he’s off the hook.
I haven’t been able to read and comment forever so I’m truly sorry if I’m rehashing.

I thought the same... I will say that Im pretty impressed by LG's sister being proactive on social media. Keeping the word out and also addressing issues like this.

She is fantastic and still so young.

I can see her going on to be someone that helps other families of murder victims in future.

She seems a very genuine and caring young lady.

All those hours, time, and money spent on the wrong suspect! LE assuring you they are making progress, they have DNA, etc. then slam bam, you get slapped in the face with
Wrong Suspect!
sbmff
I don't think they had the wrong suspect.
BG is BG and BG is also the new and updated sketch.
imo they drew a sketch from the grainy video image off libbys phone as we saw the pic.
as time has gone by they have enhanced the picture and realized it was actually a disguise and he has features that a witness (might be the father even?? not sure on that part) has described and made the jump to that conclusion. same person.
the fact this new sketch was actually drawn a few days after their deaths and not recently is why I am thinking long these lines.

Like anyone else crossing the bridge, BG would have been focused on getting along on it without getting hurt or stuck.

Then unfortunately you cannot post this per TOS. Rumors are not permitted, and this sounds like a collection of rumors.

The HLN show has been discussed in depth over the last few days with very few links been shared.

I think it's obvious the poster was on about that show even if at first she was not very explicit about it so can't see that she has broken the TOS and if she has then dozens of other posters surely have over the past two days also.

To the poster that asked I've seen snippets of the show on you tube but not actually the sketch artists point of view so not sure about the things you mentioned but I do remember the eye detail and the possible cleft lip coming up in discussion back on the previous thread so might be worth looking back. As I say I havnt seen that portion of the HLN show so whether the points were raised by the experts on the show or posters on here made that assumption about the eyes and lips I don't know.

The SO recently arrested and cleared in Libby and Abby's murders was at the trail that day, and was seen by a witness. The grainy video looked enough like him that his likeness wasn't questioned. LE assumed he was the killer bc of his history and put his sketch out, but assumably DNA has cleared him and he was not BG.

Once arrested, said SO may have ID'd BG on the trail and given more info towards the new sketch.

the cleft is in reference to a noticeable bump in his chin below the bottom lip. The presumed underbite causes a bit of a ridge in the lower jaw. No cleft lip - that is a congenital deformity that is very obvious.
