I've often wondered if........let's say, they willingly went with this guy at first. Not sure if they were the type or not but, to be honest, I was 13/14 when me and my friends had our first beer. And, being pretty stupid, there were many times me and my friends would go hang out with guys who cat called us from houses, parks, etc. Especially if they said they had beer. Once we had it, we thought it was "cool" to always try and get it. Was that stupid? ABSOLUTELY!! But you know how you sort of feel invincible at that age. Especially if you're with a friend(s). Well, that was us. Maybe it was them too. And of course if you had asked our parents back then if we drank or would ever go with strangers, our parents would have said, NO WAY! But that was not true, in reality.

I wonder if this guy maybe came off to them as friendly enough and encouraged them to go see/do "whatever". They may have been a little leery but went anyway but just in case, decided to record the situation anyway.

For EXAMPLE, let's say the guy approaches them. Says something like, hey girls, I have some beer. Want one? Maybe some other convo happens in-between. Libby feels a little skeptical and maybe reaches into her pocket to start recording on her phone. So they ask, where at/where is it? And he says, down the hill. They follow and who knows what happens next.

Anyway, just a thought/theory/etc. Because, to me he seems calm and cool when he's saying, down the hill. Almost like he's just telling them he has something down there for them (i.e., beer) or there is something to be seen (i.e., an animal, better pic opportunity, etc) down there that may interest them. Who knows. Just trying to think back to myself at their age and I did a heck of a lot of really questionable things that I never even gave a second thought until I was an adult.

I wondered the same thing. This last weekend I took my kids and boxer on a walk up a trail, there were plenty of people around and a guy mid 30's approached us and asked if we were hunting Pokémon that he just caught a ditto up the trail. My heart clenched as clearly my children were playing Pokémon go. I thanked him and headed up that way. I felt secure with my boxer, and since it was well populated we proceeded. They caught their dittos and we quickly left. Hindsight, it made me a little nauseous to think the girls could have been in a similar situation. Heartbreaking.

Hadn't even thought of Pokemon Go. But yes, perhaps they could have been playing that.

From the link for Tricia's blogtalk, is there a WS thread for the person's sister who is going to be on the show? Would like to peruse prior to the show tonight.

" Our good friend Sheryl McCollum from the Cold Case Investigative Research Institute joins us with some information about the case that may surprise you. Sheryl knows this tragic case inside and out.

Later in the show, Jenny Carrieri's identical twin sister Jody LeCornu was murdered almost exactly 21 years ago. "

BTW, I thought all her shows were prerecorded now and we had to listen later.. is this one live today??

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/websleuths/2017/03/08/websleuths-radio-3717-the-murders-of-abby-and-libby

The shows are live but are also available to listen to later on the blog talk radio page. I think.. being in the UK I generally listen 'later' but on occasion will listen live like I plan to tonight

I'm not 100% sure if this is allowed, but this was going around in SM today and I hadn't seen it before (see attached pic). I think this should be okay to post since it doesn't say anyone's name and is just general info. Please remove if it violates any rules, and my apologies.

Generally where the photo is sourced from will determine if it is allowed. If it's MSM I think it will be ok, do you have the link to the photo? Can you post the link please?

I so agree with this and frustrated . With new updates on my phone I have to put a code in first then scroll to even find my phone. I wish Apple or other phone providers would create something in the making of the phone where if you repeatedly pushed side button it directly went to 911. Old wall phones had something similar.. it's been years but I believe if you kept dialing three numbers in a row it eventually went to dispatch.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk.

Some cities (mine included) now allow 911 "calls" through texting. They started that last year.

Though I can see a possible link between the two incidents, perhaps as BG being the passenger / coordinator, I don't think the man in the grey jacket is BG. BG's clothes, though farm / working clothes are not only clean, but neat looking and also fit. In contrast, the man in the grey jacket looks far more like a drifter (stained jacket, heavily worn jeans, ball cap apparently too small). In addition, BG looks to be stockier.

Now that I think about it, BG's clothes are not only simple, but neat, but also seem to be coordinating. In contrast to being slovenly, or just reflecting a man who does not care about colors. Though BG's clothes would not be taken as being trendy in the least, his possible "fanny pack" or sweater matches his hat in color. Likewise, his jacket seems to color coordinate with the jeans. Even the seeming grey under layer of clothing does not contrast with the out layer.

I wonder if this could indicate that BG has an orgainized personality? Perhaps he was in the military for a period of time and still dresses some what uniform from habit?

Just an aside and OT, but I find it difficult to imagine that a dangerous, defunct contraption such as that bridge would be allowed to exist in Canada. Maybe I am naive, I don't know? Is it on public land? Either way, I am really surprised that the government didn't bring it to safety standard compliance, if for no other reason than to protect themselves from expensive liability in the event of an accident, or if it is privately owned, the owner wasn't forced by government to bring it into compliance, or take it down. If it is an interesting historical site that is wanted to be kept by the community, then why not pay for it to be repaired and beefed up while still adhering to its old world charm (as much as possible while still allowing the public to be safe while using it)? Even if none of that happened, why would there not at least be huge signs stating 'use at your own risk', etc? Totally confused.

It is on private property owned by the railroad and anyone who walks on it is trespassing. It is not, therefore, open to the public. Bring it into compliance for what? What 'compliance' is there for an old, abandoned railroad bridge, on private property which is never to be used as such again?

Would 'use at your own risk' signs have prevented these murders? The risk of a rotting bridge is that it will fail and you will get injured as a result, not that someone will see you one the bridge, hunt you down and kill you. So, how would 'regulation' prevent this crime? It wouldn't. I've been to Canada and have spent 4 years total traveling there, visiting cities and spending many months in the northern wilderness, there are lots of rotting and abandoned things in Canada, you just haven't looked.

Has LE ever adequately explained their reasoning for stopping the search the first night? I can't believe the families haven't blasted them for that. It's probably unlikely the girls were still alive by them anyway, but they could have been on the trail of the killer about 18 hours sooner.

IMO that's why they are now devoting all this man power and all these resources to finding the killer. It sure must be nagging at authorities that they did not grasp the seriousness of the situation early enough. With missing teenagers a lot of times LE assumes that they are just horsing around and just being typical adventurous irresponsible teens (and 99% of the time that's probably the case). They likely dismissed the parents' assertions that Abby and Libby weren't those types of kids.

On a side note, that's what bothers me so much about this case. As far as I can tell Abby and Libby were sweet, good, responsible kids, and they were murdered while doing something completely innocent. :(

I can't seem to find any MSM mentions of either the Lafayette or Elwood "incidents" - How do I delete my own post?

After reading as much as I can on this case my theory as to what transpired are as follows (let me know if anything has been disproven already)

The perpetrator is a drifter who was already at the trail head when the girls were dropped off. He noticed that one had a backpack and sees an opportunity for Ann easy target. But first he tries to either ask them for money or says something that makes the girls uneasy. Being somewhat familiar with the trail he follows them slowly and waits till they are trapped on the far side of the bridge. The girls notice and record him with their phone since they still feel uneasy. As he gets closer the phone still recording goes into her pocket. The perpetrator catches up and with a weapon (I think a knife) tells them to get down the hill. The girls head down first, feeling they can get away from a melee type weapon they make a run for it to get away and run across the creek. The perpetrator catches one girl causing the other girl to freeze not sure if she should help or keep running. The hesitation proved fatal and he kills them both. The perpetrator then takes the backpack and rummages through thier belongings, tossing some cloths and items in the creek while doing so. He then walks out toward the cemetery and hitch hikes / bikes or walks out of town and the area that same day.

To me this would explain why the girls recoded him, why LE said no one else is in imminent danger, why the reporter saw cloths and why they crossed the creek among other rumors reported that would seem to jibe.

There was an armed robbery at Harvard State Bank in Rockford, Illinois on February 10, 2017 (2 hours from Delphi). Some think the suspect looks similar to BG, still on the lose last news report. There is CCTV footage of the suspect.

http://www.rrstar.com/news/20170210/harvard-state-bank-in-rockford-robbed-at-knifepoint

That does look like him. If he was on the run and needed money. 'Hmmmmm a knife IMHO I believe that was the weapon of choice for BG. BTW Rockford is more around 3 and 1/2 hours from Delphi.

Is LE aware of this tip?
