It's times like these that I'm reminded of a scene from an excellent movie by the name of "Doubt". I highly recommend it for those who may not have seen it. But in this scene, the late great Phillip Seymour Hoffman plays a Catholic priest by the name of Father Flynn and he's giving a sermon that, while beneficial to the whole congregation, is aimed particularly at Meryl Streep's character Sister Aloysius who is trying to destroy him through allegations that have no basis in fact, but regardless, she believes them to be true. So here then is Father Flynn's parable, if you will:

Father Brendan Flynn: A woman was gossiping with her friend about a man whom they hardly knew -- I know none of you have ever done this. That night, she had a dream: a great hand appeared over her and pointed down on her. She was immediately seized with an overwhelming sense of guilt. The next day she went to confession. She got the old parish priest, Father O' Rourke, and she told him the whole thing.
'Is gossiping a sin?' she asked the old man. 'Was that God All Mighty's hand pointing down at me? Should I ask for your absolution? Father, have I done something wrong?'
'Yes,' Father O' Rourke answered her. 'Yes, you ignorant, badly-brought-up woman. You have blamed false witness on your neighbor. You played fast and loose with his reputation, and you should be heartily ashamed.'
So, the woman said she was sorry, and asked for forgiveness.
'Not so fast,' says O' Rourke. 'I want you to go home, take a pillow upon your roof, cut it open with a knife, and return here to me.' So, the woman went home: took a pillow off her bed, a knife from the drawer, went up the fire escape to her roof, and stabbed the pillow. Then she went back to the old parish priest as instructed.
'Did you gut the pillow with a knife?' he says.
'Yes, Father.'
'And what were the results?'
'Feathers,' she said.
'Feathers?' he repeated.
'Feathers; everywhere, Father.'
'Now I want you to go back and gather up every last feather that flew out onto the wind,'
'Well,' she said, 'it can't be done. I don't know where they went. The wind took them all over.'
'And that,' said Father O' Rourke, 'is gossip!'

Think twice before ruining someone's life folks...you wouldn't want it to happen to you or one of yours. JMO.
The Twilight Zone episode "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" is also apropos.

if dead persons were found on my property I would not even think of proving my innocence. I would be bewildered, incredulous and cooperative with all

I was just wondering if anyone else saw this? This was the first time I have seen it so I am sharing but apologize if it has been shared before. This shows the distance from RL's house to the part of his property where the girls' bodies were found. Much further than I pictured in my head from the video interviews. Not sure it makes any difference, but I have to digest it and see.

IMO

This really gives me the theory that "down the hill" was the hill we've seen in the RL interviews and that the girls were taken from RL's main property (or the grain bin perhaps) directly to water - except he/they ran out of time possibly due to searchers at some point and had to leave them on RL's property..

AND doesn't the water run towards the bridge from the place where the girls' bodies were found? What if... the plan was to get them to the water and have them float down towards the bridge and it would appear to be a terrible accident?

All of this is MOO!

Remember when BG wasn't considered a suspect?

I don't know that he's a suspect now. More like a person of interest.

Looking forward to your results. IMHO, he doesn't look very tall. I'm guessing 5'8" to 5'10". MOO

I am, and will be shocked if RL turns out to be responsible for these murders. I never gave him a second thought.

While we wait for search warrant updates, I updated this list ... hope I didn't miss any related posts

This has been unsolved long enough that I'd like to try something different, and I hope that everyone here will pitch in and add to the list.

I believe there is a possibility that the person who did this also murdered Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins in Evansdale Iowa on July 13, 2012. If we could make a list of facts that are common in both sets of murders, that might help us understand the man behind this. I'll start the list:

  • two girls aged 8 and 10, and two other girls aged 13 and 14, abducted five years apart
  • both occurred on the 13th day of the month: Friday July 13, 2012 and Monday, Feb 13, 2017
  • girls were at local parks, but in an area where they were separated from other visitors
  • girl's bodies were found 50 feet from a slow river
  • at least one of each set of girls was an avid online communicator
  • at least one of each set lived part time with a grandparent
  • body locations are fishing/hunting/outdoorsman spots
  • body locations suggest that the suspect has a familiarity with the area surrounding the park
  • two set of girls have similar body types
  • State Rd 218 exists very close to both murders, perhaps less than a mile from 4 lane highways
  • both tiny rural towns.
  • Small, inexperienced (in major crimes) police force
  • Crimes both occurred in daylight hours (afternoon)
  • "Bridges" exist at both locations.
  • Weichman Pig dealing operations exist in both areas.
  • Adding dates of birthdays and years may add up to 32 depending on how you do it. The number has a lot of negativity to it from history.
  • Transco Railway products/services exist at both locations or very close (Logansport).
  • "Rails to Trails" is an active org in both locations.
  • Trails are located at both Monon High Bridge in Delphi and Meyers Lake in Evansdale (Evansdale Nature Trail/Cedar Valley Nature Trail)
  • Geocaches hidden at Monon High Bridge, Meyers Lake and Seven Bridges
  • The dates are also mirror images ... 7.13.12 and 2.13.17
i don't personally think they are connected but I believe both are fairly close to meat packing places.

Can you tell me where I can find that? The court record shows otherwise.

Thanks.

I just read a post that said it is in a recent video but no link! I assume video is a news report. Otherwise, it wouldn't be there. Good luck and if you find it please post it! I want to see it also!

Finally caught up.
It is in my opinion that RL is not BG.
I also think that RL does not know or is protecting BG. The reason why is...RL, at 77 yrs old, does not need this kind of grief in his life.
I believe BG may or may not have been using RL's property to sleep on withought RL knowing about it, or sleeping/camping at a nearby property.

I honestly think IF RL knew any information on who did this crime, he would give it up willingly. He may be some old drunk, but he's not a killer or accomplice.

I remember in Helen Bailey's case her fiancé after being named suspect and arrested he did not talk at all. Oba Chandler did talk but lied to death. Helen Bailey's best friends won't even think the possibility he is the murder, until Helen's body was found in the cesspit in her and her fiancé' garage.

Lawyering up and not speaking doesn't indicate guilt. In fact it's the smart thing to do, especially if you're innocent.
I totally agree. It may seem heartless or cold to some here, but I'm looking out for myself. Horrific crime happens on my property? I'm on the phone with a lawyer immediately, and I'm not answering any police questions without counsel. I don't care how that looks to LE, the public, or the cat down the street. I know my rights and won't waive them, especially in such a serious situation.

a coroner would be able to establish cause of death. I think it pretty hard to fool them

I can't even see BG's eyes, let alone tell you what color they are.

That is okay, layer. I understand. Many do not see the vehicles under the bridge either.

Agreed. I can understand RL giving permission to them to search for the missing girls, and then allowing them to conduct their investigation at the scene once found, but allowing them into house, barn, cars, etc - I would get a lawyer first. Does not indicate guilt to me at all.

he has problems he had a warrant! moo For drunk driving!

My point exactly! If at the very least RL has impeded this investigation (not been fully truthful in statements to LE) due to his past criminal conduct this is absolutely shameful and unforgivable! Moral compass was the direction I was going with my post! I am far from perfect but perfect from a far.......(jk) I choose to live my life within the guidelines of the law and if or when that ever changes due to a poor choice made on my part I'd like to think, that I would not only make amends for my wrong doing, but if in the event of some horrible circumstance on "my property" I would do everything in my power to exonerate myself and have the investigation move on ahead as needed! Protecting oneself and doing the right thing in this day and age seem to be difficult a choice..... That's a think about!

It is in the video found in this article. The quote is the hearing has been "continued" at the request of his attorney. 1:17ish. Continuance= postponement.
