I'm going to add my 2cents here because I honestly feel this entire 'pristine' thing has been taken out of context.
RL would most definitely know what his own land looks like. He stated in an interview that his son and his friends used to "play back there" when they were young. He said he never thought of it as being a dangerous area.

My take is that he is referring to the fact that considering two young girls were just found murdered on his property, his property still looks as it did before. IOW you can't tell anything happened. I know I would be expecting the after to look a mess--with the amount of LE, emergency, crime scene techs, etc. I would probably be thinking it's hard to believe anything horrible happened here because it looks so calm and beautiful, just the way it has for the last 53 years.
BOP I agree exactly and as I stated yesterday when this was discussed fully.

I remember the calendar with the 4 day weekend and discussion of possibility that BG also had seen the calendar or else saw a message on the school sign itself.
So I wondered if he had gone there other days before Monday to look for teens.

If that's the case, then that would suggest he is a local. IMO...
Or perhaps he has done the same thing in other small towns around the country? I'm not familiar with the case out of Iowa, but I wonder if something similar happened there???

I, too, def remember the half day remarks but I think it was later determined to be a full day off. U r not crazy ( at least not that I know of ... LOL) Yes I wonder if they normally took bus or were driven to and from school? Anyone know with certainty about that? Could lead to clues such as if someone noticed them at bus stop in days prior and/or overheard them making plans etc. At bus stops here in NH parents/grands/older sibs always stay in attendance with the kids until the bus arrives. Any locals out there that might actually know girls' school transport norms??? ((Also, K Noonan was it U went to docs office and "almost" got a scoop? Can't you go back? We'll cover your co-pay! (I DO hope WHOEV that was is feeling better, but you left us wondering...)) No follow-up???

thank you for coming forward to let me know I wasnt the only one that heard/saw that LOL that makes me feel so much better! And a big thank you to everyone who provided links, photos and clarification about the day(s) off! Very much appreciated!

Thanks. I agree. My feeling is that he is from out of town and comes there several times per year. I hate to implicate Long Haul Truckers again but one can see where it is possible. However if he in fact researched the school calendar that makes local a possibility as well, IMO.
But if we can find the calendar anyone can.

Lyric and Elizabeth were abducted in July, school would have been out for summer vacation for awhile by then. However the dates of the crimes are freakishly mirrored.

Iowa: 7-13-12 Delphi: 2-13-17 Let that soak in a minute..

Do women jog on these trails (generally)?

The only reason to take the girls to a second location would be for time and privacy IMO. Whether that happened or not, I don't know but there seems to have been time and opportunity enough.
Also, why the 12 search warrants on various premises if there was no second location?

Search warrants are an investigative tool that are used in virtually every murder case in order to legally to search for evidence. That several were issued is not proof of a different murder location.

I agree!

For me personally, RL's words aren't worth a lot.
Unless, he physically saw the bodies, and how they were found, I don't know if he can positively say with any legitimacy that the crime scene was factually considered "pristine".

He wouldn't have been allowed back there when they were investigating. Was he part of the search party that located them? If not, then it's likely he saw the crime scene after the evidence was taken and a clean up crew left. The clean up crew won't leave blood and gore around after LE leaves, and they'll return it to looking normal. In some locations, that may be a difficult job. Out in the woods though, it wouldn't take a lot to get it back to looking like it's natural state again.

JMO...
I interpreted his response to the reporter as RL didn't see anything out of the ordinary. No blood, no destruction, etc. The property looked as if nothing had happened there. That was the impression I got from "pristine", which was used by the reporter before it was used by RL.
JMO.

I am wondering if someone knew that they were there. The person who dropped them off could have said to someone, I have just dropped the girls off on the trail and have to pick them up at 3pm.

Just curious as to where you got the info that there were 12 search warrants on various premises?
If it has been said that 12 search warrants have been issued for the murder investigation some of them are probably for cell phone records.

BoP,
I didn't see your reply before I posted a similar response. I completely agree with you. The thanks button wasn't enough!

But if they were so 'outdoorsy types, why were they driven there and had an appointment to be picked up? Why not walk all the way there? The park was in walking distance of one of the girl's homes. I don't get why they were driven there if they just wanted to enjoy the nice weather. I am not trying to say that that shouldn't have been driven there. I just don;t understand it.

To be fair, we do not know what they were doing prior to going to the park, or what their plans were after. Maybe they'd all been out to lunch and the sister offered to drop them off. Maybe they were all the way on the other side of town and it was too far to walk.

Could be totally innocent, like her sister was going by at those times so offered a ride to and from? Maybe the girls wanted really beautiful pictures and didn't want to look sweaty or have their hair blown about? Like maybe it was a walk more about pretty photos on the bridge than an actual hike?

Not that I don't think it could be a good question to ask and something to consider (if there was a reason they didn't want to walk past somewhere or someone's house, ect., like the other poster said). But an example that came to my mind is that I walk my dogs to the park that is close enough that we call it "next door." It's a short walk there and back but by the time we get there and walk the trails we don't want to walk anymore. LOL!! I'll often ask a family member in advance if they can either pick us up afterwards or drop us off to start from the other side of the park.

But it's still a good question to consider and look into.

All IMO.

That has crossed my mind. However, I think that person would have given the names that they told to LE especially if the girls ended up missing and murdered. However, going off that train of thought...

Did they go to a gas station or grocery store beforehand where someone OVERHEARD? Was it posted on a social media site in which a friend of a friend caught wind of the girls activities? Or maybe he got a look at the school calendar? I definitely think you're onto something...

Can/should we ask that image & discussion threads be reunited now that things have calmed (slowed, sadly) down? MODS????

I am glad there are 2 threads, myself. With no new thoughts on the grainy image, I prefer to take a break from it. I like having that thread accessible, yet not have to see it if I need a break.

If it's true another girl was said to have planned to join them but then cancelled, considering they weren't all together at school (no school Fri-Mon.), it's certainly possible the hiking plans were shared via a SM site.

(I don't recall a boy being mentioned anywhere but here, only recently.)

Anyone who saw Libbys SC photo at 2.07 p.m. would know they were there in addition to family members.

From LE. They said 70 subpoenas (which I have been told would be for stuff like phone and employment records.) And 15 search warrants when they updated the number at a later date. Some of the search warrant locations (about 4 of them) are in the case map but the majority we don't know where they were.
