possibly gun was used only for intimidation.

For sure. Or, lends to premeditation, if in case someone was on his tail afterward and he needed this as way to help lend his escape.

Why can't LE provide a profile???

Thanks or posting the super recogniser test in the last thread CoverMeCagny, Enjoyed doing it. got 11 out of 14
I also got 11 of 14. Did you take the next tests, lindamichelle1? I did not, but I think I'll go back and do those, too. I admit I was distracted during the test, and I feel I could have done better.

So as stated a million times I think the key is how does he know about this place.
the original witness saw a couple at the bridge, I wonder were they ever identified?
I don't recall anyone else besides her admitting being there in the time frame.
iirc she saw a couple and a lone man.. have any of them come forward?
The police have said the voice and picture could be two people.. could it have been three?

Well, look at what happened to Ron Logan and what LE stated about other arrests that were made during the investigation but which had no bearing on the murder case. Maybe the witness was afraid that some criminal behavior/probation violation would be exposed and they would end up in jail.

Perhaps it was just fear that their identity would be made known and an onslaught of media would show up at their door.

Maybe the witness was somewhere they weren't supposed to be or doing something they weren't supposed to be doing and didn't want that revealed.

Maybe just the old "I don't want to get involved" attitude that people have when it comes to law enforcement is the reason.

Maybe the person was high and thought they would not be believed.

The important point now is that this person or these persons has/have come forward and helped to create a usable sketch of BG.

I highly doubt that it would be criminal behavior/probation violation. Cause they would easily have the arrest/ probation violation thrown out in return for information on the suspect, unless they were wanted for murder or something serious. But just say they were driving under suspension and picked up the guy as a hitchhiker the DA wouldn't charge him in return for his help in this case It happens all the time when someone is wanted and/or already charged with a crime and they help out on a more important serious case that their charge or warrant would be thrown out.

Good points, but I think the plant is a more distant possibility.

People arriving late from breaks or lunches at a production plant tend to get noticed. The crime scene is far enough from the plant that committing it while on lunch break could well be possible only in theory but not in practicality. Likewise, supervisors tend to have a good idea of who leaves a plant for lunch and many plants have recorded entry gates.

The self employed and more loosely supervised farm worker possibility, however, seems very likely though.

This ^^^^, and it happened at approximately 2:30-3PM.

I think any profile would resemble pretty much what has been said here...maybe a day laborer, or casual worker, possibly works at one of the factories in the general area, not a lot of close ties, may be a hunter, white, possibly Hispanic, aged 35-50, etc...not sure it would help much.

What might help is reminding the public of various factors or behaviors that may have occurred just prior to, or just after the crimes. Changing appearance, i.e growing facial hair, or familiar clothing or footwear missing since, calling in sick or skipping work, getting rid of a vehicle, etc...

BBM. And now, as well!

I don't know that the girls had any suspicions at all at the time they took the picture. That age group of girls takes constant selfies. It could have been a total coincidence that they captured him.

I think if girls were scared or suspicious, they would run, not stop and film. They had no reason to be suspicious of anyone on a nice sunny day in a place they'd been often in their quiet town.

But thank goodness they did get a picture.

JMO...
Go back to the media thread. In one of the first press conferences, the police called Liberty a hero for having the presence of mind to turn on her phone's camera to record criminal behavior about to begin. Or words to that effect. So it would appear one or both of the girls were suspicious or afraid. JMO.

Respectfully, I think he stalked them on the trail or they knew something was up or they were in trouble. I think the picture was definitely purposeful, moo.

Gray Hughes had a video up on his YouTube page showing the walk from what was the parking area, to the bridge (takes several minutes to get to the NW end of the bridge), across the bridge, and down to the creek and across to the crime scene. I believe it consists of 4 videos spliced together, including a MSM video of the crime scene, wher the camera pans back across the creek, to the "down the hill area" at the SE end of the bridge.

Not sure if it's still up on YouYube, and I have to get ready for work, but will post it later if I can find it.

My hunch is BG stalked them, but they didn't know he was in the area until he was walking towards the bridge.

Imo this is where the sketch details come from, maybe under hypnosis, mixed with DNA analysis and images from the video.

Maybe additionally there is this also sudden new witness who also lent input.

For anyone new to this case you haaave to see GH's videos...stunning.

Has LE stated they believe the video was taken because the girls knew they were in danger? If so, I wonder why the girls chose to record him but not dial 911. I suppose they could have been in danger immediately following the capturing of video.

Is the cell reception bad near the bridge area?

I can't seem to find an answer/ thoughts here on as to why specifically if they had DNA they wouldn't want anyone to know. Why keep this private? Maybe interrogation tactic where they say "were you there that day", then they say no, then they say well we know you're lying because we have your DNA. Why else? Maybe preserve some sort of confidence in the suspect?
The only thing I can think of why they would not confirm if they had DNA is they do not want to say whether there was a SA. They may be keeping that back for same reasons they are not reporting cause or manner of death. E.g. if there were two perps and one confessed and put the second in the frame for the murders, their info would be able to be confirmed as true by LE. That is the only reason I can think of. They have not definately ruled in or out more than one perp have they?

I doubt it was the reason for their silence but people involved in the investigation were being arrested for outstanding warrants and such. The police even said so in an interview. This person may have thought they would get arrested with what they were seeing and hearing.

Question, assuming a sexually motivated attacks, it seems the cases I've even here involve asphyxiation, blunt force trauma, and stabbing as COD. Can anyone recall any similar cases where the children victim was shot? I'm asking based on the strong possibility that's a gun under his jacket...however, this doesn't seem to be common MO, I imagine due to lack of rage/ intimacy factor, etc., or however you explain it.
The only double child homicide where they were shot that I have come across is the one where Kevin Sweat shot two young girls in 2008 I think it was. He was only caught because he shot his gf several years later and LE matched the bullet casings. There are two threads on here about it. I haven't read all of the older thread yet but it reminds me of this case.
Eta. Skyla Whitaker and Taylor Placker are the girls names. Went out to look for rocks and shells in a creek and were shot and left by the road side.
