New to the discussion but familiar with case. I have my doubts too. 50/50 at this point.

I can't wrap my mind around the logistics of killing 2 young athletic girls with a hatchet. There were no screams or gunshots heard by anyone AFAIK. Not to mention the fact that they were aware of being followed. He did not sneak up on them. It seems there would either need to be some planning involved or two or more assailants to immobilize them quickly and quietly. DN appears to be unhinged and disorganized. He is ex military though. Maybe Maybe.

Remember the press conference where it was stated that the girls bravely stayed together, even though one would have had the opportunity to leave the other and run away?

Jumping out of bed to say I hope they have this guy on close close suicide watch.

I almost just typed something that goes against my belief system...holding my tongue and typing fingers...:furious:

I think I know what you might have said. Just remember if he dies, so might many answers.

LE did say that RL is not a suspect, but still involved in the investigation.Might want to sleuth a connection between him and DN...if there is one.

I have a problem trying to logically get this aspect to fit. "IF" DN is BG. "IF" DN even knew RL, much less was living there, or working for him, LE would have known this almost immediately. "IF" RL had hired, or housed DN, even if DN gave him a different name, IMO, LE would have been asking if anyone knew him because from what we know at this point, LE didn't question DN about this crime, until this past weekend. DN was arrested on a different charge, so IMO, if LE was even thinking they needed to talk to him, or someone had even mentioned DN's name to LE... they were following up on tips, and would have wanted to talk to DN with his history, and already in jail, so easy enough to talk to.

While I'm still sitting on the fence on whether or not DN is BG, I do see much more likeness than I ever did RL. BUT, what happened to RL is one of the biggest reasons I don't want anyone else railroaded, scrutinized, convicted on social media... we must wait for facts, IMO!

Sorry if this has already been posted. I just came across it.

Wife, grandmother of 'suspect' in Mount Herman hatchet threats speak up
By: Kaitlin Durbin
September 26, 2017 Updated: September 28, 2017 at 8:34 am

....
Katelyn Nations, who identified herself as Nations' wife, called his arrest upsetting.

"This whole situation is a shock to me and I am so embarrassed," Nations said through Facebook messaging, adding she is not in Colorado Springs. (An arrest affidavit for her husband has since proven that false. Katelyn and two young children were in the vehicle with Nations when Woodland Park police stopped them.)

She later declined to talk further, saying she'd been advised against commenting.
Nations' grandmother, Frona Hamm, 87, said she's the last real family he has outside of his wife and their three children. His mother died and his father is in prison, she said from South Carolina.

Hamm said she raised Nations since he was 6, but she hasn't seen or talked to him in at least five years, after she asked him and his wife to move off of her property. They were gone the next morning, she said.

To offer my thoughts, what makes me feel sceptical is that he only has tentative links to Delphi. If he had been living there or had signed on the next day somewhere closer than an hour and a half away, then I would be completely convinced instead of just cautiously optimistic.

Like it's been said, the only evidence we have publically to work in the favour of DN being BG is that he's suspected of bizarre and violent crimes that took place on a nature trail, he has links to Indiana and looks quite similar to to the suspect sketch. These things all help make an argument that he is BG, but there's also other things you can argue doesn't make him BG.

I'm pretty sure that he is our man but I just hope and pray that law enforcement have substantially more evidence that links him to the crime than we do because even if he is, if this is all they have, it would never be enough to charge him with the murder of these sweet girls, never mind to convict him.

I hear you. I, also, remember well that there was a whole lot of real hype here on WS about looking for a man who looked like the sketch--his build and color of hair...reddish brown, not blue eyes, a weapon, etc. I'm comparing his goatee pic to the sketch (not the thinner full bearded pic). He also appears to have had connections to IN in Feb, and is a very volatile/violent type. We talked about military types, transients, and those who are suffering marital stress, etc. A real lot seems to be adding up.
And, especially, since LE considers him a POI, I'm thinking that this really may be it....

Or fishing. I saw a picture of him in a small fishing boat that apparently was from his Facebook.

i realize this is the Abigail & Liberty thread but is anyone else now questioning if DN had anything to do with the murder of Tim after this yesterday?

https://www.google.com/amp/amp.thed...on-shoulder-of-sb-i-25-in-douglas-county.html

....The caller told officials the body had apparent cuts to the hands and gunshot wounds

It's roughly 9.5 miles away. Here's a map for reference.

It will be interesting to discover exactly what caused the damage to the taillight.
Tree fibers? or paint chips from say something like a bicycle or a car?
IMO only

Poor guy, Tim. My heart breaks for him and his loved ones too.

I'd like to know why El Paso County deputies arrested him in Teller Co. Was there a BOLO?

Also, I'm hopeful the wife will tell everything she knows.

Last I read his next court date is Oct 16. I doubt we'll hear more until then.

I wonder if the image of BG wasn't captured as the girls were feigning taking a selfie as they walked along, using the camera as a rear view mirror of sorts, to monitor his behavior without turning around...if they knew or suspected he was following them, not just another friendly hiker on the trail.

Or, faking filming each other while actually filming over shoulder via selfie mode

It was said that nations was known for carrying a hatchet. I wonder how did he carry it? In his hand, stuck in his pants, hanging from a hammer loop in carpenter jeans?

This is an important question, imo.

Eta: holster, etc.

Google "hatchet sheath", lots comes up. Yikes looks kind of like the brown fanny pack I thought looked like an ammo pouch on the bridge pic, moo. Maybe...probably not.

Happened yesterday while DN would have been in custody. Unless they just found the body, which I highly doubt since It was apparently visable from I-25.

Investigators tried to make contact on the 18th, but he was gone by then.

SM post indicates they were gone by mid-May.

Yeah to over here in CO of all places, Denver, not that far from where I am (I've mentioned in other threads and maybe even here, that it seems many nut jobs make their way here, I bet I even said it here early on, anyway my point, I feel awful that more awareness wasn't brought to BG here in Colorado, as maybe TW's murder could have been prevented. I should've passed out fliers down there, hit up more news stations, etc etc, shoulda coulda woulda...no need to respond please, you guys were nice enough to calm my woes last night. This one's on me, I know its not my fault, but still. It's how I feel and nobody can tell me otherwise! Moving on...

Really? IN LE has said they will have answers by this week regarding his possible involvement in Abby and Libby's murders. Also, regarding the body found by I-25, DN has been in jail since Monday, so that case may not be related to DN depending how long it's been there. That also could potentially clear DN of involvement in TW's case if this latest homicide is also related to TW. What is going on out there?
