Thats a good point as I dont recall any witnesses mentioning hearing gunshots. But what if the witness that saw him had just gotten there after he was all done firing shots. Isnt it possible he used a gun and the witness was maybe not out of their car yet and didnt hear it?

I do know that in wooded areas like that the people living in the their homes may not always hear shots. We live in a place where people are shooting all the time and unless I am outside i seldom hear shots.

I think if gunshots were indeed heard by somebody, they'd have later reported it to LE and not to the media. A killer on the lose, I can understand why potential witnesses wouldn't want to go public.

ISP Carter did say they know exactly how the murders occured but can't share that information because the murderer knows too (me paraphrasing, didn't take notes). That's reassuring imo that LEs investigation has connected all the dots about that.

The reason I questioned this is because Carter looked a bit more upset than the families. JMO. I'm certainly not saying that the families aren't upset!

I think part of it, too, is the pressure placed on the ISP to solve this crime. It’s so horrible, and it’s been ten months, and there seem to be so many clues. Was that his daughter sitting next to him? (The families have been so wonderful throughout and have never criticized the investigation at all, from what I can tell).

But word of gunshots would have gotten out by now.
Of course LE knows the COD. They saw the bodies and the bodies were autopsied.

But they have DNA from the crime scene, right?
AFAIK yes. So why can't they rule out? Contaminated in some way? One possibility is maybe they have not found any DNA other than normal touch DNA at the scene.

That was Libby's sister. She is the one that dropped the girls off.

Everyone hears things differently and remembers things differently. I heard there were a lot of people there.

You heard wrong, she definitely said there was a lull when the girls were there.

Thank you... her facial expressions were hard to watch.

The quality and brand of boot would tell me alot too. If he was wearing a pair of Wal-Mart hikers, he's probably just a weekend walker, just gets out for that occasional breath of fresh air maybe mushroom hunter. If they are a good mailorder brand or from a well known sportings good store, that tells me he is a serious ground pounder, hunter ect..
He wants comfort, durability for all weather conditions. He may frequent these types of stores. Without a doubt he goes back to the crime scene, most likely a night or very early morning. I'm sure LE has surveillance cameras (Trail-Cams) in place or atleast i would.

Or maybe the DNA that was found is DNA that one would expect to be there, like from friends and family. But that still wouldn't fit because they have a picture of the killer.

I don't watch tv, so I appreciate those of you who shared details of what was discussed on Dr. Phil today.

I'm also thankful to those of you who keep this thread going. I check in frequently but admit it's frustrating when there are no new leads and as time goes on more of a hopelessness that the case can or will be solved.

DN as a POI gave me some much needed hope about this case, but as time goes on without a word about him I feel they either completely lack evidence or of course that he's not the guy. And I was so hoping he'd been caught. :/

One thing I took away is that this was probably a transient killer.

Another thing I took away is Abby was not dressed to meet anyone, and was wearing one of her mother’s old shirts and Libby’s jacket.

I think Dr. Phil did a wonderful public service here.

Hi Jabarn,

JMO...

You may be right about transient killer. LE may have thought this from the start. It would explain the billboards in 46 states.

And “transient” doesn’t necessarily mean “homeless”. Think Isaiah Keyes traveling to different places.

JMO.

In one interview quite some time ago iirc it was explained every crime scene contains DNA. I'm just speculating in an outdoor environment that includes such things discarded trash, cigarette butts in the area and touch and transfer DNA on both the girls or their clothing from anywhere they went and anything they touched.

What LE has never specifically said it do they think they have DNA that they believe is the killers (ie sexual attack, fingernail scrapings etc). Or are they looking for someone who's presence of DNA on or near the bodies cannot be otherwise explained?

I don’t know if law enforcement can’t reveal it due to the investigation, or if they would rather not know, or if they do know and don’t want to jeopardise the investigation. I know from Facebook the families do not want to jeopardise the investigation in any way which is entirely understandable.

Considering the COD remains unknown, I disagree someone hearing the sound of a gunshot would've "gotten out by now". And to clarify, I wasn't referring only to the COD when I wrote how the murders occured.

I got the impression the families have a very close relationship with LE. Because both their goals are exactly the same - to catch the perpetrator - it's not unusual if they are coached as to what to say and what not say on SM.

One example, Abby's mom stated they'd worked extensively even with NASA and Disney to make the photo that was released as clear and accurate as possible. She appeared somewhat frustrated that the public thought the photo should've been clearer.

Oh, I totally agree. Transient to me suggests a traveler, and not a local, someone comfortable with being outdoors.

Also, the popups tonight are hitting me every minute.
