What exactly do you mean? ( DN or someone actually in Delphi ?) The girls apparently spoke of the stranger behind them, so they cannot have known him IMO, unless I have misunderstood the reports.

I can't find the link anywhere so take it for what it's worth, but iirc early on a reporter asked LE something about footprints in the grass pertaining to the Bicycle Road property and the search warrant. Feb 24th was also an indication of the aggression of SM as well, when LE publicly asked that the property owner not be harassed.

Back to basics.
I thought I would not have trouble finding a man's shoe with a white stripe across the top. I have not found a shoe of that design in 10 months.
The only shoes/boots that I have seen that are close what appears to be boots iwth a light stripe across the top are boots from Indiana Packers.
I have looked through boots like runners, motorcycling boots, off roading boots, fashion boots with no luck.
As for his being local, many IP employees don't live in Delphi, but commute from other towns like Lafayette, Frankfort, Kokomo. Its a huge employer.

My questions are does IP provide its workers with free boots, or do the employees have to purchase them? Do they then wear them out of the plant, or only in the plant during work and leave them in lockers?
If a worker quits or is terminated, do they keep or turn in their boots? If they keep them IMO a pair of IP boots could easily end up at a thrift store. (Not to mention a shelter.) The jeans and jacket BG was wearing are pretty generic looking and I imagine plentiful at thrift stores/shelters in that area. I hope/imagine LE went to major thrift stores and shelters around Delphi inquiring if anyone recalls someone obtaining that "outfit" in the day(s) prior to 2/13 but I'm doubtful any conclusions were made from that investigation.

Foot prints - hopefully they got usable impressions.

It seems so unlikely that anyone would wear IP rubber work boots outside the plant. Could they even take them out? Still, I have not yet seen a closer match of the light stripe on top of the foot. If he was wearing rubber boots I would think his his car was actually very close - rubber boots aren’t good for walking any distance.

Further, it would be Great if the boots meant that BG was a former employee at IP/had access to boots of an employee at IP, thus traceable, but probably one of the first legs of the investigation was scouring employee records past and present at IP. IMO

I share a similar experience in that I once lived in an area that became the subject of a major media focus. In the late 90's, my immediate neighbor was killed by a mass murderer during a highly publicized multi-state killing spree and nationwide manhunt. There were media vans parked outside my door 24/7 that relentlessly pursued his grieving widow for comments any time she stepped outside. On top of the terror that the killer might return, the media gave her and our neighborhood no peace. It was a brutal, invasive disruption. Police met with neighbors on the side to provide assurances privately - as I expect happened / happens in Delphi now. Ultimately the press nightmare ended (for the most part) two months after my neighbor's death when the murderer committed suicide and his body was discovered.

I know what you mean about the media. We had a serial killer operating in our area for a while (Alex Skesny, which I've probably spelled wrong) and it was impossible to drive down some of the roads, partly because they were lined with media vehicles and partly because if you even slowed down, somebody with a microphone would be pounding on your window shouting questions. More than once, a person who lived on the road had to get a police escort to get home.

And yeah, the locals "knew" a lot more than was in the media--so much "more" that an innocent man was beaten half to death because neighbors were positive he was guilty and LE was looking the other way.

There were meetings with LE but not nearly as many as there should have been.

Right. I don't recall anything being said about a stranger behind them. But I do think something was said about him being strange, weird or something to that effect iirc.

Is it possible that what looks like a white stripe is actually a trick of the light (glare, reflection, blown highlights, etc.) ?

It's a small selection of various types of footwear/shoe covers/protective devices. The USDA has certain standards/requirements for footwear worn in a food processing/slaughter/packing facility.

I had no idea there was such a range of products. . . some of them look like the lower extremities of C3PO (of Star Wars fame)

DELPHI, Ind. (WTHR) - State police say more audio from Libby German's cell phone was played for the victims' families, including a mention of a man they noticed behind them.

Police say the girls mostly talk about "stuff girls talk about" in the recording, but they also mention the man.

That's all I have seen. There is nothing more said about him that has been released.
