One issue with a mask is that it alerts and possibly energizes a potential victim to run away, it's so scary. Whereas, I speculate that BG looked like he could be just some guy out on an innocent walk, so the girls hesitated to run, call 911, etc, until it was too late.

Yes Shire. Police take surveilance video of the suspect and compare it to the video from the crime scene. Expert testimony in forensic podiatry is accepted in U.S. courts with cases resulting in convictions. Maybe BGs DNA being there or not isn't the deal breaker we previously thought.

Yes I saw that - I wonder if they have ruled out some previous POI's that way already? I can't see them releasing more video -they have said they aren't going too and maybe it's too graphic anyway but they will obviously use it themselves for comparison purposes.

They have his gait, voice, picture, possibly DNA and phone data too, plus witness description. That is a lot of evidence.

@ Satchie - I don't think we have discussed the possibility he had a fake gun to threaten them with. I just thought of that because of the report regarding the Bedford assault. There appears to be an outline of a gun in his right jacket pocket.

Also, your point about him not apparently having a mask over his face must mean he intended to leave no witnesses behind, unless he pulled it up as he got closer.

I found a description of the attacker on the Milwaukee trail FB page and this is the link.

In a later post they report they have 5 trail cams ready to put up.

Good find.

Not responding to anyone in particular because I'm too lazy to go back and quote someone. IF the guy in the camo mask does turn out to be BG, I think it'll be found that he started wearing a mask after seeing pictures of himself plastered everywhere rather than that he was wearing one the day he was at the bridge. MOO

No way the camo mask guy is BG. The woman attacked reports him as 5'10" and 135 lbs, and says he was skinny. (with those dimensions, VERY skinny!) That's not BG.

Thanks. I just mentioned that because people seem to be seeing a camo mask on BG since that was reported. I just don't think it's there. MOO

I've been away for a few days (Mr. Carbuff gave me a 5-day Caribbean cruise for my birthday. I do love that man.) Looks like nothing has happened of significance?

I agree, if the COD wasn't shooting, the gun could very likely have been fake. I can't think of any cases where someone brought a gun but used another method.

ETA Fake gun could also explain why he seems to have carried it rather carelessly in his pocket, didn't own a proper holster etc: he wasn't worried about it going off by accident.

Sadly, no.

The strange thing is, now that I look at it more closely, I don't even thinks it's a gun anymore. JMO

Does anyone have a rough estimate of the time Libby started video of BG to the time Libby's Dad called her about picking the girls up? In my mind, his call would stop the video, thereby giving us a closer estimate of the amount of time her phone was recording.

She said he was in the range 5'5" to 5'10".

The maximum time given the constraint to the time to Libby's dad calling/texting is likely about 45 minutes.

But the observation I will make is that LIbby was SnapChattiing not all that long prior to recording the particular video that captures BG in the frames and it would not surprise me if she was texting/chatting with others a bit. I would think it was possible she received some feedback on the two photos she posted to SnapChat - but maybe she didn't. We don't have any information whatsoever about phone records related to Libby's phone. We don't know when any messages or notifications arrived to her phone or any when communications she made were sent. We also don't know if her phone had sounds enabled for messages that arrive or notifications, etc. that would give away the fact that she had a phone on her.

I don't know if other apps, aside from phone calls, suspend or stop video recordings if they come to the foreground due to a message received or other events. Depending on the OS version on her phone there are other apps/messaging besides phone calls that can interrupt a video. On Apple's support site the recommendation is to set the "Do Not Disturb" setting on the phone. Had Libby already done that? Unknown. Did she have enough time to do that prior to recording BG if it wasn't already set? Unknown.

Honestly, I don't believe that the video recording goes all that much longer after "down the hill". I also believe that the additional audio that was played for the families came from a different video that was recorded earlier than the one that captured BG. LE has not said how long the video lasts nor whether the additional audio they played for the families was from that same video where BG and "down the hill" occur so we get to make our own best judgments about them.

When I read that he had missing or rotten teeth, then I thought: maybe BG perhaps but definitely not the sketch man, IMO.

Do you have a theory on how her phone was left behind?

No I don't. I am not entirely convinced that LE has Libby's phone. It goes back to whether she had the phone largely silent so it doesn't "ding" when a message comes in or a notification shows up and so on. With the people out there searching you think there was a more than reasonable chance of hearing it - unless it was under water. Many things are possible but I think it would be difficult for Libby to get rid of the phone easily once BG was with them. It seems more likely to me that if the phone was recovered that it was BG that discarded it and not LIbby. Libby's only real opportunity would have been to dump the phone near the south end of the bridge and that would mean that there wouldn't be much more after "down the hill".
