This whole article is fishy to me. Why would she refuse to talk to local media, yet be so forthcoming with the huffington post? Why would the police suddenly release who was in the home, the doors were unlocked and no signs of a break in to them when they have refused to comment on it up to this point.

The way she talks about Aleah is a little concerning too. I can't put my finger on what it is though.

Then she said this:
“I only share that with the FBI and detectives,” she said. “I get a lot of negativity because of that, but I cannot discuss this case like a soap opera. [The people who complain about that] have not been here for the 19 years that I had her. They’ve not been here for all the stuff that I been through with her like struggling to find daycare [and] struggling to find jobs that I have to leave because of her seizures. Nobody was there for me then. I’m obviously grateful for everyone helping now, but I’m talking about the people who are being negative. There’s some people that are ignorant about everything.” Which just puts up one red flag after another. Things just get weirder and weirder.

Her statements are very "me" oriented... why would someone do this to "me"...all the stuff "I" have been through...

What about what Aleah is going through? Where is the concern for her? Is she warm? Is she hungry? Why talk about her struggles and not what Aleah has been through in her life? What makes her laugh? What makes her sad?

That is what struck me and what seems hinky to me.

And the statement "the 19 years that I had her.. She's objectifying Aleah. There's nothing personal about Aleah at all. Very impersonal and distant. Unemotional.

this just screams LIAR to me! (In regards specifically to the quoted text formatted using bold, italics, & underline formatting).

The plea really was all about the mom, in her own words. My opinion hasn't changed since day one. I think LE is releasing info to it pressure on someone to squeal on the mom, or talk her into confessing, she basically told how it happened. Reminds me a bit of AJ & Wesley Hadsell, and how he described last seeing her...telling what happened.

  • #323
I don't think Mom is involved, but I do think she knows who is. I think she has shared this with the LE and they are working on that.
This is a "find the body" case not "find her". IMO
I have joined all the Aleah pages on FB, ALL of them are just weird.

I suppose her statement seems "me centered" because she's on the defensive. There are some pretty scathing accusations toward her on many public SM pages. That's all I'm going to say about that.

Mom's statement is pretty much "don't judge me, I have been here dealing with this disabled person for 19 years, it has been very hard and none of you were here helping, so don't come around criticizing me or questioning my story now".

It sounds like a justification from a person who was just worn out from 2 decades of caring for a severely disabled child and took matters into her own hands during a momentary lapse in judgment. "I did as much as I could do and just got tired and couldn't do it anymore" so to speak.

Hmm, seems like someone has been reading the comments/complaints online... lots of questions answered here.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/aleah-beckerle-missing_us_579b9603e4b08a8e8b5df1b8

Aleah Beckerle’s mother has a message for the individual or individuals responsible for abducting her disabled daughter: “How dare you take her out of her home. Why would you do this? Why would you take a child that depends on me? Why would you want to hurt me, my child and my family? I’m begging for you to return her,” Cara Beckerle told The Huffington Post.

This is really just a pet peeve and I have no clue how I'd react in this situation, but if someone abducts your child, they probably aren't even thinking about the parent or family of that child. They simply want the child. So the answer to "Why would you want ot hurt me, my family?" is probably something like, "They didn't even think about your family or care about your family. They wanted the kid." As to why they wanted the child, that's a bigger concern, and that's what would be sitting in the pit of my stomach like a lump of ice, I think: the fear and dread of what they'd be doing to my child.

For some reason I keep thinking of a case where a child was found in a storage bin in the attic. The police had searched there so the child had been placed elsewhere and then was moved back into the home after they searched.

I can't remember which child it was, though.
I remember that. I think the child was just an infant. Well maybe 1 or 2.

National group gathers volunteers to search for missing Evansville woman

"We want people talking about her," LaRue, Aleah's grandmother, said. "We want people to look for her. We've got to have her back."

From across the volunteer registration table, Aleah's mother, Cara Beckerle, nodded.

"I want her back," Cara said in a soft voice. "Maybe we'll find her today."

I wonder if mom actually helped search today or just stayed at the command center.

Article says more than 50 people came out to search today. I know the search team was hoping for far more volunteers but 50 is pretty good after a few days with only a couple people.

ETA: I also just noticed that the group they photographed was searching in Henderson. I really think they need to concentrate the search closer to her home. But that's just a feeling, I very well could be wrong.

Perhaps there was an accident and the circumstances were such that it was felt it shouldn't be reported (which is what I feel happened in Deorr's case).

I can't imagine anyone abducting a profoundly disabled child. Especially one who is totally dependent on medication and requires a great deal of care. That's just illogical IMO. There's likely a much more simple explanation and an accident fits it for me.

Another article (they all seem to pop up around the same time): http://44news.wevv.com/search-missing-teen-going-week-2/

That's the first we're hearing of this bed sheet, right?

Yep! Today was the first day anything about a white hospital like bed sheet came public. I would think those that have been searching all last week would have liked to have that information as well. All we knew is she had on a T shirt and depends. The white bed sheet in the picture makes this continue to be known that this won't turn out well. This is so upsetting.

Yeah, that's one thought I've had. Even something simple like they were in a car accident and Aleah wasn't wearing a seat belt or she had a really bad seizure and hit her head. I don't know why you wouldn't report something like that and go to such great lengths to keep up a huge lie, though.

It seems like such a weird thing to withhold information that would be important to searchers. This whole situation is so bizarre.

Uh oh. This bed sheet info and this late in the game really has me worried. Did her mother or grandmother know the bed sheet was missing right away? That would be hard to miss. Especially with all the "cleaning" going on in Aleah's room since she disappeared. I've had a hinky feeling from the get go on this one, but this just makes it so much worse.

Why would that not have been mentioned before? I can't think of any good reasons.

ITA. Too much trouble for just a random abduction.
