Humm why didn't the neighbors seeing all of this call the police? It would have kept a young wife and mother from being murdered.

I believe he was seen on video by LE after the fact.

Another place they are reiterating they believe Amanda was NOT a target.

She became a victim purely because she was in her own home when someone broke in during what they thought was a crime of opportunity.

We believe that the people saw this as a home where they could get in and take some things. It just so happens that Amanda was home ... and she was murdered," said Indianapolis police Capt. Craig Converse.

Well I'm no stranger to have to eat crow. Many cases that are like this tragedy LE looks at the family first; does not mean that relatives are the criminals.
I think we can ALL AGREE we'd like to see justice for Amanda and her unborn daughter !! I know I do !

Somewhat on-topic... I HATE crimes like home invasions. Many years ago I was on jury duty for a home invasion case, and luckily no one was physically harmed. This young couple had gone to sleep and left their back door unlocked... a man left on foot from a near by bar and walked in and took the wife's purse and 2 phones. Fortunately the husband awoke and saw the back of the burglar as he was sneaking out, and also a lady delivering papers saw him -- he was caught and arrested about a 1/2 mile away.

He had thrown away the purse but of course kept her credit cards and 40. $ He was unarmed.
What made me angry was the defense lawyer who tried to blame the young couple for leaving the door unlocked. (I don't care if the door is wide open-- you do not enter a house that is not yours unless you have permission from a relative, are house/pet sitting, etc.)

This young couple were badly frightened and they also had a 5 year-old son who was luckily away at g-parents that night.
What if this child had awakened and wandered out to the kitchen or his parents' room that night-- and confronted the home invader ?
What if the wife or husband woke up to use the bathroom , saw the burglar and panicked ?

Things can go so wrong , so fast. and in the Blackburn's case -- the worst happened.

ADMIN NOTE: LE has cleared the husband. Unless that changes, he is a victim, and will be regarded as such on this board.

Police: Husband "100% cleared" in death of Elkhart pastor's daughter

On Thursday evening, WTHR reported that police have "100% cleared" Davey. Detectives say his time at the gym has been accounted for by security camera images from the gym.

Well, that's good news. This verifies at least one suspect.
Is there a link for 'hoodie guy' being seen on more than one surveillance cam.?

I suggest watching the presser and/or read back a few pages as this has all been rehashed, but...basically every article since the presser has said exactly that.

Presser discussed some of the sightings of him on video and in person, as well as the car, from multiple cameras, on multiple homes, on multiple streets.

Surveillance cameras on more than one street caught the suspect accused of murdering an Indiana pastor's pregnant wife during a home invasion, police revealed Friday.

<snip>

They said several neighbors spotted the suspect outside and reported him to police.

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/11/1...8-dies-after-being-shot-during-home-invasion/

At least three security cameras posted on other homes captured images of the man walking in the normally quiet neighborhood on the city’s northwest side near the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

As to a timeline, I've made several attempts on the last few pages but for whatever reason some would rather try to keep expanding the time line to 3 hours (which is only relevant so far as the time the neighbor's was broken into and the 911 call was made when Davey returned home) so I'm giving up.

I suggest you watch the presser as there's far more that is said about all the video and streets and many homes and witnesses.

I tried to piece together a timeline from MSM:

5:30 AM "Suspects went into the neighbor's house

6:11 AM DB seen leaving his house

6:45 - 6:55 AM Shots heard; "surveillance footage from the neighborhood that has been collected by police shows a man leaving Blackburn's house and driving away in an SUV"

http://abcnews.go.com/US/suspect-pastors-wifes-murder-caught-video-police/story?id=35177832

8:30 AM DB returned home "to find his wife critically injured."

Indy, there's an error/typo in your timeline. It should read 6:45-6:55, per your link. ;)

I wonder how long your average burglar stays in a home they are burgling. I would think they would be in and out quickly, I have no idea, but maybe 10 minutes tops? And these are small houses, not mansions which would take longer to rummage through.

But if the burglar knew the homeowners were away, they could hang out longer. I wonder if neighbors knew this homeowner(s) was away.

If the first house was burgled at 5:30am, remaining in the house until after 6:11am is a rather long duration. Unless the "burglar" was waiting for something specific, like Davey leaving for the gym.

I don't imagine he was in there the whole time.

But he was taking larger/heavier things so that's going to be more than say, ransacking for jewelry or something.

Figure he's in and out a few times - more if he's confident it's clear and he can get away with it.

Be outside 5:50-6 ish and walk around a bit.

Then drive around a bit looking for another opportunity (and accounting for the car seen on cameras on a number of streets in the neighborhood)

Loop back around, see Davey leaving at 6:11 - but realistically he was probably in the process and that was noticeable (garage open or that sort of thing) a good 5 minutes earlier, so then stall somewhere.

Then go in the house 6:15ish and do his thing.

Just one quick correction. I believe neighbors reported hearing shots between 6:45 and 6:55 :tyou:

Sorry, I see others beat me to it! :blushing:

On a morning in June 2012, a young woman named Nicole Bennett was found in a ditch after spending the evening before working in her church, alone, while her husband was home with their 3 girls. He never noticed she did not come home the night before and he had fallen asleep on the couch. Only noticed she was missing when he woke up in the morning. She'd been working on stuff in the preschool classroom in which she taught because she'd missed work that day due to a sick child. Her van was locked in the church parking lot and she was found a few miles away, across state lines actually. From a lot of people's perspectives, it did not look good for the husband who was keeping very quiet. I knew Nicole and even I was wondering how it could NOT be her husband. His "story" was weird!

Turns out it was the janitor at the church and she didn't even know him. He'd been given his 2 week notice because they found out he was a sex offender. He was cleaning that evening. He was angry. So he raped and murdered a random, innocent, convenient woman.

It's not always the husband!!! Even in Christian circles!!!!

Since DB is cleared, we should assume that he IS on camera the entire time he said he was there.

Plus, in order to clear someone, they must have gone through ALL of his phone records, interviewed friends/family, checked out his online activities, interviewed people at the gym, etc.
Before someone can be cleared, LE goes through every molecule of their lives around the time of the incident (like in the months leading up to the break in-- and what DB did, said,or communicated online immediately after this tragedy.)
And I'm sure they looked at everywhere DB's cellphone pinged around this time.

No one is cleared unless every nook and cranny of their activities has been investigated -- so if LE says DB's alibi and everything else is 'solid' ; we have to believe he's innocent.

LE would not say someone is cleared if they had the least suspicion; because if they said someone is innocent and later evidence proves otherwise-- they open themselves up to litigation.

Jeanine Pirro on Fox explained that the statement clearing the husband isn't a reliable indicator. She is the former District Attorney in Westchester County NY. Sometimes police mislead an investigation. Obviously, I dont have the info they're privy to and don't know whether it's sincere or not, just sharing that things aren't necessarily as clearcut as some may assume.

We have no idea how far he had to drive to the gym, whether he got coffee or gas first, etc. That's really not that long at the gym for someone who looks like him.

Maybe he goes every morning at the same time.
Someone might know that!
Buut would also know wife and child are left home.

Again, LE seems to be disputing that in multiple places. Here's just one:

We believe that the people saw this as a home where they could get in and take some things. It just so happens that Amanda was home ... and she was murdered," said Indianapolis police Capt. Craig Converse.

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/...o-cops-n463116

But even going with your insistence that LE is wrong and Amanda and her home were targeted, it seems to me the fact that they DID NOT break in there first also disputes that scenario.

If the Blackburn home was the target, why would someone risk getting caught breaking into a different home first?

He wouldn't know LE wouldn't be called or an alarm wouldn't go off or someone might not notice.

He wouldn't be able to be sure even if he hit house one that he could still make it to the Blackburn home without getting caught.

And if he really was targeting Amanda and the house and knew Davey's schedule, why wouldn't he simply arrive AFTER Davey left in order to go in and not risk anything else? Or at least not 45 minutes early?

I just don't see how any of that makes any sense, even if you discount what LE has said. :dunno:

True about the cigs if he smoked (though that seems like time you'd not necessarily risk to me, but I clearly don't have the mindset of someone who would do this so...lol)

The one reason I'm not sure I see the yard/fence as very relevant in this case is that we have both witnesses and videos accounting for hoodie guy using the front door.

I guess he could have put stuff out the back door for someone else if he had a lookout, but then the lookout is sort of 'out of commission' in that role.

I'm looking forward to when they get the suspect(s) arrested because search warrants may give us more insight into some of this!

I think it is possible he peeked through the fence and once the lights were out when DB left he went to the front with the SUV watch in wait.

There was no reason for the burglar to go to our front door. The other doors were not as secure and two were hidden behind a gate from the driveway. I'm biased, of course.

Home invasion is a much more serious crime than people realize , even if no one in the home is injured or killed.
It would be a good thing if crimes like this were to have more severe consequences.
As for the one who took Amanda's life -- I am hoping for the DP !
Let him or her feel a fraction of the fear and anguish this young lady must have felt , and to be brutally gunned down with her child in the house and another one on the way. She did not deserve this.
