Found Deceased IN - Annrose Jerry, 21, Notre Dame University campus, Notre Dame, 21 Jan 2020

Here's the first news article on the lake search. Rescue crews searching lake on Notre Dame campus
I’ve heard from one of her friends that she was suicidal at the time she went missing. Everyone on campus who knew her is extremely upset, and rightfully so. From what I’ve heard, she sounds like a good person who was just overwhelmed with pressure...

Godspeed Annrose, prayers for comfort and peace for family and friends. Such a shame, Beautiful bright young lady. So sad she has left this world way too soon, maybe she was feeling overwhelmed or depressed, hard to talk about these feelings for many of us . Always devistated when a person feels there is no hope ... Without hope we are all lost MOO I am assuming there is no foul play involved here . Heart breaking for her family and friends

“NOTRE DAME, Ind. (WNDU) – The body of missing Notre Dame student Annrose Jerry has been found.

The university made the announcement Friday afternoon.

Jerry's body was found late Friday morning in Saint Mary’s Lake on campus.

An external examination revealed no apparent signs of trauma, according to the university.

From the University of Notre Dame:

Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., president of the University of Notre Dame, offered his condolences and prayers to the family of Annrose Jerry, a Notre Dame senior whose body was found today (Friday, Jan. 24) in Saint Mary’s Lake on campus.

‘We’re deeply saddened by the passing of Annrose,’ he said. ‘We will keep her and her family and friends in our prayers.’

Ms. Jerry, 21, had been missing since the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 21, and Notre Dame police scoured the campus and pursued multiple leads in an effort to find her. Public safety personnel discovered her body at about 11:15 a.m. today and the body was recovered about an hour later. St. Joseph County Coroner Michael J. McGann made a positive identification at the scene and said an external examination of the body revealed no apparent signs of trauma.

The University Counseling Center and Campus Ministry are available to offer their support to members of the Notre Dame family.

A Mass in memory of Annrose will be celebrated at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart early next week.”

Rest In Peace, Annrose.

When her missing info said "extreme danger" and "may need medical assistance" I assumed fear of self-harm. So sad she felt she had no other options. She was dearly loved and will be missed. RIP Annrose.

Happens more than once a year at my son's school and many others. It is a pressure cooker at the top schools. These kids know how much this is costing them and their parents, and it's not just enough to be smart. Most didn't get there for being slouches- and tend to run towards perfectionism. Super hard to be the brightest in your high school, only to be "average" at the college of "your dreams."
Some of these kids didn't even have to crack a book in high school to pull off great grades. Everyone eventually hits a wall with a class that is hard for them. Many don't have study skills as they have never needed them- and no clue how to reach out for help.
There are ones that are literal machines- with no social skills, no fun, no "college life"; that do nothing but study.

One little thing or many can push one over the edge. It is so sad. No degree is worth it. Nothing is worth taking your life. It will get better. Prayers for her family.

I know at schools like MIT, they have pre-admission suicide screening.:(

My "genius" was accepted there, but decided eventually on where he is. And he hit that wall: hard. Having a brother with a disability, he was raised that everyone needs help sometimes, but he never asked very often. We've spent a lot of time reminding him and his frat brothers about how they are worth more than any degree. That there are plenty of schools, plenty of years to get a degree (or not), find their niche. That reaching out for help for anything from class work to mental health is absolutely not a weakness. We hope they listen. High performance tends to run on high anxiety for many.

Eta: Annrose was a gifted intelligent woman. She was very loved, and this has to be so hard for her family. I really hope the school takes a good look at what's needed / changes, etc.

Postings online, including a tweet from Blaine High School in 2016, show Jerry was an accomplished student who was chosen as a National Merit Scholarship finalist. According to WSBT in Indiana, she was also a member of the university's Glynn Family Honors Program, a program for Notre Dame's top students. On top of her academic responsibilities, Jerry played flute with the Notre Dame Folk Choir.

Was Annrose in therapy or did any of her friends alert the counseling office that she was suicidal?
