Quoting myself here, but in everyone’s opinion: How do you think they ruled out JM in A & L’s case? Forgive me if that’s a silly question.

It could be dna, fingerprints, shoe prints (if he is a different size from BG), voice analysis or a combination of them all. The eyewitness who saw BG and provided the info for the sketch could have ruled him out.

He had a traffic citation in Boone County the day after A & L were found. It might've jogged his memory as to where he was the previous 2 days, so perhaps he was able to provide an alibi that checked out. (I've never seen an MSM link in which Indy LE has said they have usable DNA from the Delphi crime scene.)

I think it was that his DNA didn't match. I believe someone here quoted LE saying that they believe a similar process may solve A&L's case too. Since I don't have a link, I'll look back and see if I can find the post and link to it if I do, or delete this if I don't.

ETA: Found it.

You're in Boone County? Hi neighbor. I wonder where this guy was when Shannon Sherrill disappeared? Can you link to the Boone county citation? Was he on 65 or on surface streets?

That’s interesting... thanks for sharing. It seems like Miller has the characteristics of a communicative and attention seeking serial killer, except as far as I can tell, he hasn’t been linked to any other crimes, and didn’t send out any messages after ‘04.

MOTHER OF 1988 MURDER VICTIM APRIL TINSLEY WANTS TO 'PUSH THE BUTTON' IN MURDERER'S EXECUTION

"After waiting three decades for an arrest, the mother of a child that was raped and murdered in Indiana in the spring of 1988 had some choice words for her kid's suspected killer.

"He needs to die the same ways she did," Janet Tinsley, the mother of 8-year-old victim April Tinsley, said of murder suspect John Miller in an interview with NBC in Fort Wayne on Wednesday.

She also added that while she "would like him to explain himself," she also wants to be the one "pushing the button" if Miller receives the death penalty. ..."

Family of eight-year-old girl who was raped and murdered 30 years ago come face-to-face with her 'killer' in court after cold case breakthrough

"...While she was too upset to attend the alleged killer's first appearance, April's mother Janet sat in the front row as Miller was assigned public defender Anthony Churchward, WPTA reported.

This week, she told reporters she had just one word to say to Miller if she was given the chance: 'why'.

'The only thing I'd probably say to him is why. I just wanna know why, and to see if he can come up with a good answer,' she told WANE-TV....

On Monday, April's aunt went to the Allen Superior Court to see the man accused of killing her niece.

'I just wanted to get up and go over and slap him one,' Teresa Tinsley told the News Sentinel.

Tinsley was joined by her daughter, her niece, and her niece's husband, with two of the group dressed in bright blue shirts that read: 'Never forgotten, always remembered' on the front and: 'April Tinsley, 1980 - 1988'.

She told the paper April's father wasn't ready to believe police had finally caught his daughter's killer."

Brother helped care for accused killer, ends ties

"AUBURN – The brother of John D. Miller, the man charged with the child molesting and murder of 8-year-old April Tinsley in 1988, provided meals and looked after his older brother for years, never realizing Miller's terrible secret.

The relationship between the two brothers, the only surviving family members, is now over.

“He's dead to me,” said Miller's brother, known as JPM, in the affidavit released Sunday by Allen Superior Court. JPM, who lives in Auburn, does not want to be identified or photographed.

His older brother, 59, was “always slow,” JPM said Thursday at his home....

Dealing with John “is like dealing with a 13-year-old,” JPM said...."

It must have been a terrible shock for him to find out. His comment dealing with John is like dealing with a 13 year old is further information to suggest he may be mentally challenged. His lawyers and the court will need to have his competence evaluated before the legal process moves further forward.

"Quinet, who has studied homicide for more than 30 years, said it's likely police are looking closely at Miller's past. “I would be surprised if the offender in this case only committed this crime,” she said, “and I'm sure law enforcement is following up on his possible links to other sex and violent crimes.”"

"Gary Grant spent years searching for the person who killed 8-year-old April Tinsley in 1988. On several occasions in recent years, the now-retired Fort Wayne police detective likely stood just yards from the man who is charged with the girl's murder. He didn't know how close he was to finding the key to a slaying that shocked the city and kept its residents' attention for more than three decades."

"Soon after the man charged in the heinous abduction of April Tinsley was arrested, a 'creepy' photo of the man surfaced on social media. A three-year old photo of John D. Miller, arrested in the murder of Tinsley, was posted on Sam Bortner's Instagram page. "He was just a creepy guy," Bortner said. "You could just feel him staring at you."

Absolutely wow...

This story that surfaced not long ago from news affiliates covering Greenwood, Indiana also involves a creepy guy following innocents in a store (I’m not from Indiana but stay attuned to any reports of lone weirdos in the news given my interest in the Delphi case).

I guess what gets me is the amount of hunting that goes on from these types, and without a hit. John D. Miller is now caught, but looking at the years before and after April should provide clues on what these types do in their spare time.

Tinsley arrest motivates cold case detectives (with clip)

"Decades of old cases are waiting to be solved by the Fort Wayne police department, but a small group of detectives are feeling optimistic after the break in the April Tinsley case.

"It gives you that victory... that small victory that helps carry you into the next two, three, four cases," Detective Brian Martin said.

While police are seeing a resolution in Tinsley investigation, drawers and boxes hold details for cases going back fifty years.

"I'm going through that old evidence and going through the case, rereading it, trying to find potential witnesses who can help out with the case," Martin explained. ...

In the Tinsley case, John Miller will appear in court August 3, for a trial date setting."

Possible Break In Indiana ‘Snapchat Murders’ Of Abigail Williams & Liberty German

July 28, 2018

"....While an arrest in this case has yet to occur, a lead arose in the arrest of John Miller, who was taken into custody for the several decade-old murder of April Tinsley. It would happen to take Miller a mere two hours to drive from his house to Delphi, where Williams and German were last known to be.

RadarOnline spoke with the Indiana State Police Department’s Sgt. Kim Riley on the plausible link between Miller and the two girls. “At this time, we are looking at all aspects of the tips, information from other departments and all of the persons of interest we have on file,” Riley explained. “I cannot comment on any one person in the course of the investigation.”..."
