So she just delivers at home, the baby dies or she kills her, then she throws her away?
Oh yeah, much better than the state taking the baby right???

That's crazy.

Brizzi: Mom had help dumping baby
Updated: Tuesday, 25 May 2010, 2:56 PM EDT
Published : Tuesday, 25 May 2010, 12:35 PM EDT

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Marion County prosecutor Carl Brizzi says he thinks there are more people involved disposing of a newborn baby other than the mother.

"I believe that there are people out there who know what happened. Miss Miller did not deliver this baby, walk down three flights of stairs, drive herself to the hospital by herself," Brizzi said. "So, she didn't dispose of this child either by herself or at least there are people out there who know what happened who she told."

“Some of the statements are a little contradictory” Brizzi explained, “But in terms of what we have is that the baby was born alive and that she did something to the baby physically…whether to help it breathe or not to help it breath we are not sure. But then when the baby died she put it in the shoe box and threw it in the dumpster… that's been pretty much consistent the entire time," he said.

The 19-year-old mother was in court Wednesday where a judge gave the Marion County prosecutor more time to consider charges against her.

Search called off for missing baby
Updated: May 25, 2010 2:11 PM EDT

Metro Police have called off their search of a Clinton County landfill looking for a missing newborn. Authorities say they've exhausted their efforts.

Police said they sifted through 3,000 tons of trash Monday and found no evidence. They say if the baby's remains and other evidence were in the landfill, they likely would have found them.

Around one hundred police officers and other support staff were involved in the search at the Clinton County landfill Monday.

"Hopefully, eventually, we'll have a conclusion, with some truthfulness in this situation. We just believe at this point, her stories have been so inconsistent, possibly that she's not being truthful and maybe there is hope that she gave the child to somebody and maybe that will come to light. We just don't know at this point," said Lt. Jeff Duhamell, Indianapolis Metro Police.

Tasha Miller wept as she was led to court being peppered with questions from 6News' Julie Pursley about the child and its whereabouts.

Asked if she had anything to say, Miller replied, "No, ma'am."

These women who want to get rid of their babies then boo hoo feeling sorry for themselves because people ask what they did with the babies. Ugh.

Teen mother called for help before police say she dumped her newborn
Formal charges are pending against the 19-year-old who police say gave birth to a baby girl and threw her away in a dumpster.

"From that phone conversation we saw her as a concerned mother-to-be, trying to act responsibly,” said Dawn Robertson, assistant director of Honk For Kids.

More than a month ago, on April 15th, the then-pregnant 19-year-old called the "Honk for Kids" hotline, an agency that helps families navigate the child welfare system.

"She was seemingly depressed and at the end of her rope. Just over her head, not sure what to do. She gave us the impression that she wanted the kid but for fear that DCS would step in and remove the child, she was looking for other options,” said Robertson.

Honk For Kids told Miller to go to Wishard Hospital for prenatal care, to consider giving the child to a relative, or putting it up for adoption, or at the very least, dropping the newborn off at a safe haven location.

Mom of missing baby won't face charges

An Indianapolis mother whose newborn’s whereabouts are unknown will not face any charges from the Marion County prosecutor for now. It’s not known if any charges will be filed in the future.

Carl Brizzi initially said on Tuesday he would file formal felony neglect charges against 19-year-old Tasha Miller.

"I believe that there are people out there who know what happened. Miss Miller did not deliver this baby, walk down three flights of stairs, drive herself to the hospital by herself," Brizzi said. "So, she didn't dispose of this child either by herself or at least there are people out there who know what happened who she told."

Miller 'Relieved' No Charges Filed In Missing Baby Case
Prosecutor Puts Pressure On Witnesses
POSTED: 11:32 am EDT May 26, 2010
UPDATED: 12:29 pm EDT May 26, 2010

A woman who has refused to disclose the whereabouts of her newborn who has been missing for two weeks said Wednesday she is relieved that charges weren't filed against her.

Tasha Miller, 19, smiled briefly as she was led from a Marion County courtroom Wednesday. She had been held since her arrest Friday on a felony child neglect charge.

"I'm relieved," Miller said quietly when asked how she felt about Wednesday's proceedings.

snip

In the meantime, officials said she will be taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital for a psychological evaluation.

When 6News' Derrik Thomas asked Wednesday what happened to the child, Miller replied, "I already told you."

When pressed on the question, Miller said, "I'm going to tell my story," but didn't elaborate.

I don't get it!!!! Why no charges? Because she needs a psychological evaluation?
Ok, fair enough. If she's found to be sane, then will there be charges?

And, why would others involved not face charges if they know what happened?

Will this baby get any kind of justice at all?

"But Prosecutor Carl Brizzi held out the possibility of charging Miller later -- either through a pre-charging agreement or by calling reluctant witnesses before a grand jury."

snip

If that fails, Brizzi said prosecutors could use the grand jury to compel sworn testimony from Miller's family members and friends. He said he suspected some knew more about circumstances surrounding the birth than they told detectives.

Here's to hoping she will finally tell the truth. Even more prayers that the baby is alive somewhere.

So if you live in IN, have a baby, possibly kill it, and then hide the baby's body so well that it can't be found... you won't be charged?? Sickening.
