Found Safe IN - Britney Gard, 46, Endangered, missing after suspicious house fire, car & purse left at her home, Bainbridge, 30 Sep 2025

  • #41
I am glad she was found safe and it seems unharmed.

If nobody else is being looked for/at in this case, then I would assume they think she started the fire and ran off into the woods some time on Oct 1st. If they tried to ping her phone/devices and that gave them no leads, then did she turn her phone off and just hide in the woods until she decided to turn it on and call 911? Was anyone helping her during these 8 days or was she literally just alone in the woods without food and water for 8 days because that is a very long time to be without food, water, and shelter.

Was the goal to burn her house down for insurance money? Did she start the fire or was it something that happened as a result of leaving something on like the stove or a candle?

There are certainly possible criminal implications here beyond just her going missing and causing everyone to look for her. Then I think of her poor children thinking something horrific must have happened to her. :(
Great questions. We may never know.

"Family members don’t know where Gard has been for the last eight days and weren’t sure if she was in the woods the entire time."

I find it odd that her phone still had a charge after 8 days. I know it was off during that time but that's a huge risk to wait 8 days and then still have a battery charge left. JMO

News Nation interview with Britney’s family last night outside the hospital. One thing is certain: she has much love and support from her siblings.

It’s an odd one for sure.

When I heard that the dogs were outside the home at the time of the fire I suspected that the fire was set by someone who cared about them.

I’m going to suggest that some form of mental break has occurred.

I’m so glad she was found and that she is in hospital receiving treatment.

Either her mother or her sister posted on her Facebook FB link on 10/11/2025 that this was all she knew - and she posted a link to the Ashley Banfield youtube video from the previous message. Seems strange that even the family doesn't know the details of what happened during those 8 days. Why all the mystery and secrecy?

I checked the Putnam County court system to see if any charges had been filed in the suspected arson.

Britney's home has gone into foreclosure. Since she was served there, apparently it was not a loss due to the fire and is still inhabitable. Britney had defaulted on her mortgage (roughly $159,000) with the last payment being in April of 2025. The home was last purchased for $114,000 according to Zillow and is currently valued at $280,000 so I'm guess she took out a second mortage based on the increased value of the home. She was served the summons in November

Rocket Mortgage, LLC, F/K/A Quicken Loans, LLC v. Britney S. Gard, Midland Credit Management Inc., Citibank, N.A.

Type MF - Mortgage Foreclosure

She has a second civil collections case active for default on a loan of $21,705 (this in addition to the civil claim by the University Credit union that was noted when she first went missing). She defaulted in October and the case is pending.

Was the fire a failed arson in an attempt to collect insurance?
