*Pretrial Conference Hearing (@ 10:30am CT) – IN – Curtis Gilbert Collman III (8) (June 21, 2018, Jackson County; dies of meth overdose (180 times the lethal does, thought it was cereal) – *Curtis Gilbert Collman II (41) – arrested (6/21/18) & charged (6/26/18) with neglect of a dependent causing death, pointing a firearm, possession of meth, intimidation & theft. Also charged with failure to maintain his sexual registration status. Stems from a 2006 conviction of a Class D felony of sexual misconduct with a minor. $51,510 cash only bail. Faces 20-40 years in prison.
Refused to call 911 & threatened others who tried to call.
8/2/18: Bond reduction hearing. Denied. 8/17: Prelim hearing.
8/17/18 Update: Next Prelim hearing on 11/1 and trial still scheduled for 12/4/18.

This one haunts me too... so much so that I really had nothing to say, no words... just gasps... Like @OntarioMom, I have a very hard time believing anyone would willingly "eat" meth. I'll go so far as to say, no way. He had 180 times the amount for an OD in his system. Even eating small "crumbs" would not be enough for that much and would certainly alert anyone no to eat more IMO. I am sorry, I know he was hungry, but no way did he eat it like a bowl of cereal, or like crumbs from a plate.

That said, Curtis no longer is suffering, but those who loved him - and there were a few - must live with the pain of knowing what happened. May they find a way to celebrate this little one...

This disgusts me... this poor little boy... a parent is the person a child turns to when they need things. All he wanted was some food... what a complete piece of garbage... hugging my baby now.

As this innocent 8 year old boy was slowly dying of a drug overdose over the span of about 2 hours, Drug addict-Sex offender Dad was acting erratic, yelling, waving a gun around threatening to shoot the woman friend, his son, and himself if she called for help.

Whatever frantic, paranoid, selfish acts transpired were CC's last moments before he passed on.

I can only hope that the woman held him, rocked him, stroked his hair, held his hand and whispered some words of comfort before his final breaths were taken.

Did his mother or grandparents know about his living conditions? Were they not allowed to see him?
Just feed the father a plate of meth and let him suffer like little Curtis did and do nothing to help him.
