Almost four years after an Evansville woman went missing, her family is trying to raise money to aid in her search – and pay for expenses.

As of Monday evening, Dawnita Wilkerson's loved ones had raised a little more than $3,300 of a $10,000 goal ...

"Donations will be used to help care for (Dawnita's) teenage daughters and cover costs (flyers, signs, events, travel ... etc.) to bring greater awareness to the issue and to help us bring Dawnita home," the GoFundMe reads.

Sept. 15 will mark the fourth “Find Dawnita Day”: an annual observance meant to keep the case fresh in the public’s mind. Dawnita’s family has compiled an $8,000 reward for any information into her whereabouts.

Cardin has helped lead that charge. She and others still relay any bit of information they get to the police. But that purgatory of waiting is maddening, and she’s doing anything she can to keep her brain occupied in her newly abundant free time.

The family of a missing Evansville woman will have a fundraiser this weekend to help bolster the reward for any information into her whereabouts.

A "give back fiesta" for Dawnita Wilkerson will take place Sunday at the Hacienda on Evansville's First Avenue. Portions of any gift card purchase will go toward the fund for Dawnita's case.

The family believes Wilkerson may have died sometime in Illinois. But they continue to scour for any sign of her, putting up posters, raising money and keeping their loved one's name in the news.

Dawnita was a mother of six known for her broccoli salad and scorching-hot greens. Friday will mark her 49th birthday.

''CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - Search and rescue teams in southern Illinois assisted with a cold case investigation on Friday, June 11.

That’s according to Pulaski County Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA) Director Kenneth Kerley.

Kerley said two of the agency’s K-9 division teams assisted the Evansville (Indiana) Police Department and the Ohio Valley Search & Rescue, Inc. team in their cold case investigation into Dawnita Wilkerson, who went missing in June 2020.''
