A Fishers, Indiana, daycare worker was arrested on Tuesday and faces multiple counts of felony battery after allegedly inappropriately touching children in her care, police said.

The Fishers Police Department said it launched an investigation after the parent of a child enrolled at the Kiddie Academy Daycare on Olio Road reported that her daughter returned home with a handprint bruise on her leg.

Court documents describe the actions of Taxter that were recorded in more detail. On March 13, she shoved the back of a boy's head and caused him to fall. Before reaching to pick him back up, she kicked him in the back, police said.

On the same day, Taxter grabbed the child from the initial complaint in an aggressive manner and threw her to the floor.

On March 15, Taxter walked over to the same girl, who was sleeping in a cot, and kicked it multiple times, leaned over, and struck the girl at least 10 times, court documents state.

Taxter than hit the girl on the back, picked her up, carried her to the diaper changing table, slammed her down with one hand, and grabbed her leg in the same spot the parent saw bruising, police said.

Detectives have identified several victims but believe there may be others.

If you don't like little kids, don't get a job where you have to take care of them.

Unbelievable! How horrific for these children! Imagine how scared they were going to daycare every day. I hope she gets some SERIOUS time in prison.

I take it that the owner of the facility never reviewed any of the videos to actually see how the staff was working with the children. ???

That's disgusting & criminal. She needs to pay & God forbid she ever gets pregnant or has a child (sincerely hoping she's not already a parent!)

Anyone else catch this part of the article regarding the coworker and find it...unbelievable?

According to court documents, a co-worker witnessed the behavior and even participated by putting them in time out and covering their heads with blankets – both behaviors the daycare does not.

The co-worker told police she reported Taxter’s actions but could not remember to whom, and that one time Taxter cornered her and said, "You better not be telling anyone what I am doing here," FOX 59 reported of the court documents.

This co-worker had better be fired immediately as well. The owner would have to be a complete nimrod to even believe her.
She reported this awful behavior but can't recall whom she reported it to? (The worker charged was only there from January until March, so it's not like it was too long ago for coworker to recall and one would think reporting that horrible behavior would be a conversation one wouldn't soon forget)

She also ADMITS to participating in some of the mistreatment and abuse of the kids as well.

Because of this, I also absolutely do not believe that the prior worker who was charged threatened her to not tell. Why would she threaten anything....they were both abusing the kids together, so I'm sure it was an unspoken understanding to not tell, no threat or convo about it needed.

Any workers there are also mandatory reporters, yes? So, just on that alone the coworker should be gone. No mention of her also being fired on the spot that day by the owner though, only the other woman who was actually charged.

I can say with 100% confidence that the coworker is also lying, also mistreated the kids (by her own admission) and absolutely needs fired too!

That article says she worked with kids for 6 years! Imagine how many more kids she abused, absolutely sickening. If she was burned out she could have just found a different job.

This is so sad. These poor little kids. Imagine how scared they were. And most were probably too small to communicate to their parents.

It’s just like the abuse nursing home patients suffer from the nursing aides. Our most defenseless populations being cared for by underpaid and angry staff, who take out their frustrations on them.

And where are the cameras?

Agreed. I feel so badly for the parents, especially the parent that came in after noticing the handprint on their child. I wonder if they were still present when the camera footage was being reviewed by the daycare? Can you imagine seeing that....and having to just stand there and try to keep your composure? I would be so upset and heartbroken.

A bail review hearing for Taxter is scheduled for May 18, according to court records. A jury trial has tentatively been set for Aug. 14.

Fishers Rep. Victoria Garcia Wilburn released a statement April 26 referencing the case and stressed the need for better oversight. She noted an Indiana news outlet’s investigation showing that a residential youth care facility facing sexual assault allegations is lobbying lawmakers to provide immunity to it and other state-contracted service providers.

“Although day care and child care facilities are obviously different from residential treatment centers, the genesis of this is the same,” Garcia Wilburn said in her statement. “We are trusting adults with our children. Just yesterday, my community of Fishers learned of a daycare worker being charged with 19 counts of felony battery charges against children in the daycare facility. Whether it’s parents sending their children to a day care center or to residential communities with licensed professionals, they should be able to trust that their child will not be harmed while in the care of others.”
