It looks like the arrest is related to a preexisting warrant:

The baby’s father, 23-year-old Willie Wilson, is in jail right now on unrelated drug charges. He was arrested around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday for possession of marijuana. A warrant had previously been issued for his arrest.

This whole story just stinks. Local media has nothing from the mother or other family members. It was RIDICULOUSLY hot and humid yesterday when this guy took the baby for a walk, and I just cannot get past his level of detail regarding the alleged kidnappers.

ITA. The marijuana charge is to hold him and keep him from leaving the area. I'm guessing LE has suspicions about this story just like we do.

I guess it's possible he owed a drug debt or there was some other retaliation going on that they thought abducting his son would remedy but I highly doubt the police would arrest him for possession of mj while his son is still missing. :fence:

His step father injured himself to make it appear as if Aveion was abducted. I'm just starting to read this thread, but am wondering about the fathers 'injuries'.

Is this his mug shot for the possession arrest? He doesn't look like someone who was pistol whipped. I don't see any injuries to support his story. If this is a current picture......

Does anyone beside me find mom's choice of words interesting?

"They've ripped a hole in my heart," she said. I can't sleep. I can't breathe...please bring my son back."

Why would she not ask he be returned? 'bring my son back' doesn't sound right to me.

My heart sank when mom said she just went back to work two days ago. That says a lot to me.

Thank you. I know it is a mug shot, I was just wondering if this msm photo was a mug shot taken yesterday or from a previous arrest. In other states I have seen booking photo's which are from a previous arrest for a day or so until the current photo is entered into the system.

I'm curious about his injuries and if they support his story. But this photo wouldn't say anything if it was from a previous arrest.

I dont understand the comments on the facebook saying what would a white man want with a black baby... Those seems well...wrong.

My comment earlier in the thread about this was in regards to passing a baby off as your own, which is often a motive for kidnapping infants that young. It would be hard to pass a baby off as your own if the baby was outside of the parameters of the lightest and darkest skin in the relationship. I guess you could try to pass the baby off as someone you adopted, but I would suspect that would raise more questions.

I see Dad was arrested on a marijuana charge last night. I'm not going to jump to conclusions, as it could be that LE feels like most everyone and is suspicious of his story. They want to hold him on a minor charge in order to put a little pressure on him to see if he cracks.

I'm curious about something. Delano was said to be in a "cover" when he was taken. What the heck does that mean? I understand it was hot and humid yesterday, so what kind of cover do they mean? A blanket?
I have a four month old granddaughter. We've never taken her out (to town) when she wasn't either in her car seat, or the seat was in the stroller if we were doing a lot of walking. Maybe they did not have a stroller, but in my State you can't leave the hospital with the baby unless you have a car seat, and they will give you one if you can't afford one. This aspect bothers me more than the description of the perps.

Poor Taniasha, she is beside herself. I've looked at a few family facebook pages. This young couple has a lot of family support, they were not out there doing parenthood alone. Which makes this story even sadder, IMO.

It was really, humid and hot yesterday. I have not taken my 5 month on his daily walk because he starts to sweat when he is in his stroller/car seat.
Maybe dad took him on a walk while just holding him, he could have been using the alley to take the baby on a short walk if he was fussy or something. Personally I never leave the house without a blanket for the baby even if it is hot outside, the weather has been crazy these past 2 weeks and we have had rain and stuff.

Ugh, dont really know what to think if IMPD arresting him for MJ the night his soon is kidnapped....
