If he had said a black woman in her 30's grabbed the child and ran, I'd believe it. Because there are women who are driven to desperation with their desires to be a mother.

I don't think I've ever heard of a case - ever - of a man and a woman kidnapping a baby they weren't related to. Has anyone else?

I was thinking the same thing. Women do occasionally beat or even kill a woman to take her baby. But I don't know if I've heard of a man beating a man to take a baby. It's really bizarre, if true.

Umm, what? Only black women are driven to this desperation? Wow, this is really offensive.

ETA: if I am misunderstanding your sentiment, then others may as well. Can you clarify please?

I think the point is that if the abductors were really a white man and hispanic woman (as the father claims)- they would have difficulty passing this child off as theirs, wherein a black woman would not (missing child is black). This is a discussion held further back in the thread.

I think she probably meant because the woman would match the baby so she could pass him off as her own.

I think she only specified black because it's a black baby missing. Plenty of women who cannot bear children have been desperate enough to kidnap children, I have never done research but from my recollection, they kidnap children they can pass off as their own.

Brave people to be speaking out to the media. I would be scared. I know I would tell the police everything I had seen, or not seen, etc., but I wouldn't tell the media. Someone might come try to harm a witness then!!! Course the man said his watch dog didn't alert to anyone being there. Smart man on that front! I know when someone pulls into my driveway, way before they ever get out of their vehicle or make it to my house. A good watch/guard dog is worth more than all the money in the world!!!

On HLN right now they are talking about how a lot of people don't believe the story at all. Nothing fits.

No misunderstanding from me....the missing baby is black....

I'm sorry, I thought it was clear on the face of it. Women who wish to pass off a newborn as their own often steal newborns. Thus, a black woman would be likely to steal a black baby, and a white woman likely to steal a white baby. In my observation, few people steal babies except women who are borderline psychotic in their desire to be a mother, or the natural parents of the baby who don't have legal custody. Hardly anyone else steals 6 week old babies from what I've seen, outside of those two scenarios.

For those like me who work better off a visual/map:

911 call (just after noon):

WW: I'm on Harding Street and... and by Chase
dispatch: Harding and where?
WW: Oliver
WW: laying in the middle of the street, sidestreet, Henry
dispatch: so you're at Harding and Henry?
WW: Henry, yeah

(the red dot on the map shows the approx. residence of parents (from msm footage outside their home)

Green dot shows location of Dan Segner who reported seeing mom walking south on Chase toward Oliver shortly before 1pm
Blue dot shows first reported location of WW at Harding and Chase
Yellow dot shows second reported location of WW at Harding and Oliver
Orange dot shows third reported location of WW at Harding and Henry

Near the end of the call WW says the kidnappers went towards Oliver

Is it just me, or does that not look anything like baby Delano's mom?
I had the same thought. Also, kinda struck me that no mention of Delano's birth.

JeannaT did not say "only black women are driven to desperation". I understood her meaning to be related to the race of the man and woman who are said to have taken the baby. Even LE has mentioned this aspect is unusual.

Personally, I haven't given any thought to the race of the abductors, or to race period. It's a non-issue.
