More than 20 people gathered Saturday morning at the Pilot Travel Center on Burr Street in Gary's Black Oak neighborhood to look for Dushawna Glover.

Family fanned out across Gary Saturday, going door-to-door and passing out missing person fliers in the Park West apartment complex and other areas across the Steel City.

They got a few tips from people who may have seen her, including from a man who thought he saw a woman matching her description getting into a red pickup truck at 24th Ave and Burr Street sometime in the past few days.

Seals said the family doesn't know how good the leads are but will turn them over to detectives to pursue further.

Now that the seasons have changed I wonder if a new search would turn up more evidence about Dushawna's disappearance? It's been 6 months since she disappeared. :( She and her family are in my prayers.

Silver Alert canceled for Griffith woman missing since May

The Indiana State Police canceled the Silver Alert Tuesday because, at least for now, Griffith Police have exhausted search efforts to find Dushawna Glover, of the 100 block of West 35th Court, on the town’s north side.

Glover, 48, disappeared from a Tradewinds-owned apartment in the early hours of May 16.

Canceling the Silver Alert doesn’t take Glover out of any national databases or prevent the department from picking up the search again later, Griffith Police spokesman Cmdr. Keith Martin said in a release Wednesday. It instead takes her out of the initial alerting stage and opens the case to other resources, Martin said.

Woman with mental disabilities remains missing despite extensive search efforts, police say

On Tuesday the silver alert for Dushawna Glover was canceled as Griffith police moved to the next stage of the investigation. Griffith police said they have exhausted all search efforts to locate the missing woman, which in turn caused authorities to cancel the alert. However, Glover will remain in the national missing persons database.

Police hope this public announcement about her case will get the word out again to the public and may open the investigation to other resources.

Bumping for Dushawna, cant believe even a year later we have no further information on her disappearance.

The remains were found by the hunter around 7 a.m. in a marsh area near the intersection of Cline Avenue and River Drive in Griffith, according to the Indiana Dept. of Natural Resources.

The hunter immediately called 911, DNR said, after finding what appeared to be bones sticking out from under a piece of clothing while searching for a downed duck. State conservation officers and local police responded to the scene.

The remains were soon confirmed to be human, DNR said, and were recovered by both conservation officers and Lake County Sheriff’s Office dive team members.

The identity of the remains is currently unknown, according to DNR, and an investigation is ongoing.

The location where the remains were found is only 0.5 mile from the the spot where Dushawna Glover was last seen on May 16, 2020.
Glover’s disappearance resulted in an extensive search of the area near on River Road and the Little Calumet River two days later, involving the Lake County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit, the Hammond Police Department drone unit, members of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources using a boat and all-terrain vehicle, and officers of the Canadian National Railroad

GRIFFITH, Ind. — Remains found in the water last month in Lake County, Indiana, have been identified as those of a woman who went missing in May 2020.

According to Lake County Coroner David Pastrick, the remains of Dushawna Glover were found on Oct. 22 and identified on Nov. 14. The remains were found in a remote area near Cline Avenue and the Borman Expressway.

Glover, who went missing at 48, was from Merrillville, Pastrick said in a press release. A Silver Alert was issued for her.

The investigation is ongoing and Dr. Krista Latham, a forensic anthropologist at the University of Indianapolis, is examining the remains, Pastrick said in the release.

Pastrick thanked several law enforcement agencies for their assistance with the investigation.
