I remember when I started dating my husband in Chicago (I lived in Indianapolis). On a drive up, I stopped just off the interstate to use a restroom after dark and called him. He asked where I was and I said "Gary" and he told me to "get back in your car and get back on the highway NOW!" I'm sure Gary has a some nice family neighborhoods but Connecticut street has had a bunch of gang related shootings (just google the street name and "shootings" or "crime" Gary and you can see.)

I am so worried about this young woman and her baby. But I think if she'd been a victim of random gang violence, they would have found her. This is likely personal and that's frightening.

No offense, but I don’t think there are any nice parts of Gary. I’ve known it to be called Scary Gary for a reason. Just driving the half mile to get to the beach through Gary with my kids is a little anxiety driven.

Relatives said Baum lived in Portage, Ind., but was visiting her boyfriend in Gary on the 2500 block of Connecticut Street when she was last seen. Her mother said she believes the boyfriend had something to do with the disappearance.

Emma may have skipped bond, though I'm not ruling out something happening to her given the crime rate in the area she was last seen and likely who she associated with (not saying specifically the boyfriend, just the possible lifestyle that is reflected in her court records). She had a hearing scheduled on possession of cocaine charges (two separate cases, different dates) Original bond was $50,000, got out on $5000 bail it looks like. The most recent is her 4th drug charge and not her first charge for cocaine.

I live in indiana. There is no such thing as a good part of Gary! Even working for the National Guard (civilian) in the early 90's , the guardsmen traveling to the armory were told not to travel through gary at night. I don't think this will end well.

Unless he was arrested before her disappearance, it seems like, in moo, standard protocol to get the boyfriend/husband arrested in something unrelated so they have him.

It sounds like she got mixed up with some very dangerous people.
