IN IN - Emma Baum, 25, 9 mos pregnant, Gary, 10 Oct 2024

"Gary police said that Emma's boyfriend is in jail after being arrested for an outstanding warrant in an unrelated case.
Investigators said he's been interviewed about her disappearance and is one of the persons of interest in this case."

So far this is the only article I've seen that states he is considered a person of interest. Most just say he is being held on "unrelated" charges.
I'm going to wait until he's named by "name" as a POI to link his case info, but it's available, Indiana one of the more "user friendly" states to look up state court and arrest records in.

ARE ALL LINKED TO THE SAME AREA
That's a span of 35 years. I could be wrong, but doesn't seem like they would all be linked over that amount of time. It's possible, of course, but I would look for links between the ones that are close together if any links are to be found.

If they are all women (can't tell from this list), my hunch would be the link is that they are victims because they are women, but not necessarily victims of the same perp.

Gary has an very high crime rate compared to the rest of the state, 30 % higher than the national average. Looking at the FBI table for just one year (pre COVID) there were 40 murders that year alone. Indianapolis had over a hundred but Indy has almost 10 times the population. So personally, I don't think there are any tie ins going back that many years but the stats MsKey215 found were quite interesting.
Indiana

And someone must have been watching her other children? Did they not notice Mom didn't come home to get the kids? We might be missing part of the story. Did someone have her phone and pretend to be her so family didn't realize she was missing??

Good points.
Sad for Emma, her family, and the littles. :(
Omo.

I tried looking for an actual police report number. I looked to see if she was entered in Namus as well as Charleyproject after I went through Facebook posts and someone had put that she was entered into both and haven’t found anything.
I looked for this as well; and I don't see ANY missing women from Gary Indiana. Which is very odd because there are several missing; and TWO are pregnant.

If they release his name in relationship to her case (i.e. he's a POI) we can sleuth his court records. That question would likely be answered.
This came up on NWI/missing people in Indiana. I need to research thier missing FB page more; there are TOO many girls that have disappeared! EDIT: to add this ~ matter of fact; it appears 6 are missing since September..

I have a theory. She witnessed a murder of Terry Davis in on September 22, 2022 behind an abandoned Gary Midtown liquor store. What if someone that is connected to that murder kidnapped her. I am trying to find out more about the case but I think it was dismissed.

I know the family said they searched a lot of abandoned buildings between October 10, 2024 (missing date) through October 18, 2024 (reported as missing) but from reading all their comments I suspect it has to do with previous drug history/charges that are ongoing. Why would a murderer of another wait two years to remove a possible witness?

A theory I hadn't thought of, but the timeline doesn't make it too plausible nor the outcome. The murder charges were eventually dropped against the shooter of Terry Davis, who was homeless. Case dismissed against alleged shooter and ex-cop accomplice in Gary homeless man’s death: records There was also video evidence in the shooting that would be stronger in court than the testimony of any possible witness with drug connections so why kidnap a potential witness when no charges are pending? So I don't see that as being a factor here. Given that she was pregnant when arrested for cocaine earlier in the year, she could have been still using. That makes OD or violence related to those she associated in and around the drug trade more likely IMO (which could include an intimate partner).

Maybe her boyfriend owes them money for exchange for drugs because everyone involved the common denominator is drugs . All them have a history of it dealing or being caught with it .

The new year brings renewed hope for the family of a missing woman from Gary, Indiana, as her family continues to search for clues into her disappearance more than two months ago.

As a new year arrives, a sense of not knowing remains for the family of Emma Baum, who has been missing since Oct. 10, but they said they won't give up their search.

But she knows her family isn't the only one searching for answers.

"There is a very large, large amount of missing women and children in Gary, Indiana, to the point where the numbers are really concerning," she said.
