(OT but if there are any cold cases or more neglected threads that need attention I'd be happy to get involved. Some of the popular ones seem really crowded already!)

I'd love to see your insights in another local case of a murdered young woman: http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...disabled-Evansville-16-July-2016-2-**Arrest**

I have learned quickly to screenshot everything even remotely interesting because if you don't it will disappear! A profile goes private or an article or comment disappears...

This is probably a good time to let you all know that you should download ALL news clips you're interested in and want to refer back to from 14 News' website because they will and do delete them after a period of time. I'm guessing they do it to save bandwidth. I wish they'd upload them to YouTube instead of deleting them. :\

Thank you. I can understand why both sides wouldn't want to divulge the details of a case. With social media the way it is it's probably even more important to keep things close. A lot has changed from that perspective from a few years ago. I've heard LE slam social media many times, but I bet it's been a good source of info for them in many cases.

I don't know about anyone else, but I would have a hell of a time sleuthing without social media.

Absolutely. It's a defense lawyer's nightmare! It's bad enough to keep your client or witness calm and focused during interviews without him or her having to explain every off-color joke tweet or Facebook post. If I were a prosecutor I'd have a detective monitoring potential witnesses' public social media 24/7.

I guess it's part of kids feeling invincible.

Has it been reported how Halee got to the soccer fields? Did she drive? Was she picked up?

(I was up til 3am reading Aleah's thread. What a tragic disgusting situation- I didn't see the person arrested coming at all. Finishing now... I hope that whole family gets what's coming to them and Aleah gets justice for what seems to have been a horrible life) [emoji853]

Same here, with 15 tabs open--at least. Then I forget to go back to one of the tabs where all of the drama was happening, and by the time I get back there it's been deleted :)

Sometimes I make brief notes (on IPad Notes app) and/or take photos. When I am really into it, I use two iPads, one to sleuth and one for notes. Just call me bored or anal, but I think it is analysis. Or maybe I need the analysis!
Crazy :websleuther:

Also, I am beginning to think that Halee was (hate to say the word) shot in the parking lot at the soccer fields. If not, there would have been evidence of blood in her apartment (and who says there wasn't), or in someone's car (and who says there wasn't). Or maybe even in her car; haven't read anything about her car?

Newspaper files motion to unseal details in Rathgeber killing
http://www.courierpress.com/story/n...n-unseal-details-rathgeber-killing/101245836/

I'm really surprised by this, anyone ever hear of this happening?

If authorities feel that it could compromise the investigation or prevent the defendant from getting a fair trial, but I think they will be unsealed on May 15 anyway. Sometimes newspapers file these type of motions for autopsy reports, search warrants, etc.

I'm just surprised because there have been other cases with sealed search warrants, etc and the newspaper hasn't filed motions for them. I wonder why this one. I bet they know something we don't and they want to write about it but can't until they have the facts they need.

It happens a lot around MA, where LE seldom releases anything they aren't forced to.

This seems rather bizarre, if the arrest has already been made....who or what evidence is in need of being protected by the sealed arrest affidavit ? I have seen arrest warrants/affidavits sealed bc the arrest hasn't yet been made ( in other cases) and done so that the suspect doesn't destroy evidence, but this is uhhmm weird [emoji848]

I believe there are. IMO drugs are involved and other people. LE locking all documents till all suspects are arrested or questioned .

I think it's odd that the prosecutor has been silent about why the document is sealed. It seems like that's the ECP's main complaint. In cases where they're looking for other people they often say it needs to remain sealed bc the investigation is ongoing. I also think it's a little weird the press would file a motion so soon - May 15 seems like a reasonable amount of time (IMO) if LE is trying to tie up information connected to the arrest. I think the defendant would get a copy even if it's sealed.

I do business litigation and the financial press will often file motions trying to unseal documents, or make FOIA (freedom of information act) requests if the case is against the government. But usually that's months or years into an investigation/trial.

I saw in Aleah's case you found SWs online - have you seen anything related to this case?

Maybe , I still have a hard time believing this girl was killed over drugs. Now on the other hand killed bc she knew about something that someone or multiple someones were doing or had done may or may not be something I have considered. MOO
