Identified! IN - Indianapolis, "Small Adult" in Tote in Uhaul Van, Apr 2018 * Alyssa Sanderfer*

 • #21
My guess is it was her caregivers<cringe> that left this poor young woman's remains in the uhaul lorry. Although, as ever, I enjoy how you come up with possibilities nobody else has thought of! (:

If they were trying to conceal her death, then imho they must have the IQs of plant life.
Where were the social workers checking on Alyssa? (My guess is her uncle, a DSP, was assigned to her care, getting paid without actually providing support. Her medical care providers? My guess is her mom didn't want to report her death due to a) negligent treatment resulting in her death b) losing Alyssa's SSDI payments c) not being able to afford a burial d) a combination of all the above.

But they moved out a month ago, it was said, so has that container been sat in a uhaul van for a month?
( in fact more than a month as they left in February????)
I too wondered about perhaps them not being able to afford medical care or a burial so leaving the body in the container in the house with the other stuff they left, and that the landlords were then clearing it out.

Also, how is the uncle the caregiver if she was living with her mother and sister and stepfather (unless the stepfather is also her uncle possibly? )

Under Medicaid waivers a family member can get paid for respite, assistance with community opportunities, job coach, etc. There could have been some abuse with the system if it wasn't actually being provided. JMO.

Well she wasn't reported missing, or deceased. And the only people that could know either would be caretakers... soo....

Shouldn't the mom at least be charged with abuse of a corpse while they await autopsy results.

Yes I agree and preventing a burial but it sounds like they left without saying anything in the middle of the night. Poor Alyssa may have been dead for some time before February. I see that LE have located the mother.

RIP, Alyssa! This case should be solved quickly.

Hopefully we will be seeing charges very soon.

All good points.

I, too, have thought that the concealment of Alyssa's death had to do with not wanting to have to give up the monthly income. Oddly enough, all the likely reasons for the mother not reporting the death are defeated by leaving the remains in the Uhaul. Imho

Btw, do you have an opinion on who lived in the same household as Alyssa? One media source says she lived with her mother and stepfather and another says she lived with her mother and sister.

Yes I've seen it say mom and sister.

I hope the sister doesn't suffer any disabilities. I'm wondering how old she is.

This is such a sad case. I'm expecting that more than one adult is going to be charged with some kind of failure to properly respond/report on behalf of Alyssa.

Sounds fake, but okay. If you died of the flu you wouldn’t be hidden in a freaking plastic tote.

i can assure you this girl was eligible for Medicaid under SSDI.

I think this was neglect.

No recent news here in Indy area. No mention of charges against the mother. I'm sorry Alyssa has been forgotten.....

From this article ““Human waste was everywhere. They didn’t have running water or electricity. It was just horrible,” said Brandi Neely.”

RE landlord’s responsibility, the landlord has to make sure water and electric are available and in working order but can not force tenants to purchase said services.

Getting a check. Not caring about running water or electricity. I have been a landlord. Once the renters do not pay we had it set we were notified and the bill went to us to avoid breaking pipes, just information. This "friend"/landlord was in the know...just didn't care.
