Article too short to copy and paste. There is also a short video of news coverage at link above.

Gillie’s body was covered in bruises and had injuries consistent with sexual abuse, according to the coroner, four years ago.

The injuries included vaginal tears as well as genital warts – a symptom of the sexually-transmitted disease known as human papilloma virus, or HPV.

3 year-old Jamie Gillie was pronounced dead. Jamie would have been 4 years old the day after she died.

and

Now, in 2010, investigators still want to know, who killed Jamie?

Was it her mother Amy Gillie or Amy’s boyfriend at the time, Steven Michael Church?

1.video of interview with sister at link directly above.2. Interview with LE directly after interview with Mom. 3. video with ME (very interesting interview). 4.Another interview with sister (more relaxed interview, interesting comments made by sister about Mom and her BF at the time).

Link to a letter that sister wrote to media.

My CP is acting up and I can't screen capture a picture of Jamie. I know that this OP is a bit more disorganized than usual but I do think that this particular case would be of interest to WSers.

I didn't find much more info other than above.

I found a website that has older articles about Jamie's case copy and pasted in full.

An article from 2003 states that Church was tested but did not test positive for HPV. (visual and rod test). It also says Mom wasn't considered POI. However in one of the links above LE hasn't stated that she was cleared and Church hasn't been either.

Bumping for Jamie, as we approach the 17th anniversary of her death...

"Church was the live-in companion of the victim's mother, Amy Gillie. The mother, whom police say is not a suspect in the death, also had been at the residence for about 10 hours before paramedics were called, authorities have said.
During an interview with police, Church acknowledged Gillie was sick in the hours before her death, Sheriff's Detective Sean Trevarthan testified during a court hearing last fall.
A female relative of the girl told police she witnessed Church hit Gillie in the head the night before her death. She also said Gillie became sick while being given a bath the night before her death. The witness told investigators Church made the toddler clean up the vomit, Trevarthan testified last fall.
At that time, Trevarthan requested search warrants for visual inspection of Church's genitals to determine if he had warts. That testing was inconclusive, court records show.
In December, Trevarthan requested a more intrusive test, which requires that a cotton swab be inserted in the urethra to take a sample.
Weber contends that no evidence has s records show.
The results, which the investigator and prosecutor say were negative, do not rule out that Church ever had human papillomavirus, Kohr said."

I can't believe he doesn't have anything to do with her death. Maybe he had an accomplice who was the one having papillomavirus ?
Is it possible he treated himself with medications before they performed the tests on him ?
