Jasmine says when she got up early the next morning to get the kids up for school, she found the home's front door ajar, the back door unlocked, and her oldest daughter gone.

Ja'Niyah's mother said some of the teen's clothes are also missing.

Dalia Guerrero is wracked with worry. She says her 13-year-old granddaughter, Ja'Niyah McMichael, has been missing for nearly two weeks.

"Just reach out. We just need to know you are okay," Guerrero said. "If somebody does have her, please just let her go."

I encourage anyone who is interested in finding this child, to look into this case. A lot of questions are not being answered by local police department! They haven't even held a press conference or issued a statement whatsoever about this missing child. Basically, just laughing in the families face! Her grandmother is out every single night looking for her!

Ja'Niyah's mother needs looked at a little more closer!

Ja’Niyah McMichael was last seen on Aug. 11. Authorities, including the Gary Police Department, the FBI, and the Department of Child Services, have been collaborating to investigate her disappearance.

... City officials said the investigation led Gary Police Department detectives to obtain a search warrant, which was executed at an unspecified location in conjunction with the FBI.

"To preserve the integrity of the case, the Gary Police Department is limited in additional details that can be shared publicly," the post continued.

... An initial post by the department on Aug. 16 indicated Ja’Niyah may be a runaway, but updates from the city portray a deeper concern for her welfare.

“Do I believe she ran away? No I don’t believe she ran away. She’s not a street kid. She doesn’t do stuff like this,” said Guerrero. [Ja’Niyah's grandmother]

The FBI and Gary police executed a search warrant Saturday on the home where McMichael stayed.

"There has been a slew of bad information that has been going around that can possibly hurt or hinder this case," said Lisette Guillen with Case Files Chicago.

The Gary Police Department confirmed it is continuing to work with the FBI in searching for McMichael, but it is are urging the community to report possible tips to them rather than posting rumors on social media.

Her disappearance follows that of 13-year-old Ja'Niyah McMichael, who went missing on Aug. 11 within blocks of Baum’s last known location. Police say McMichael may also have been pregnant. She is described as 5-foot-2, weighing about 110 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

I'm looking at Gary with the side eyes now. They only look for keys around Gary. It's 4 pregnant and missing.

CROWN POINT — A 31-year-old Gary man was charged in connection with a fight that broke out last month at a search party for a missing teenage girl.

Darnell Compton Jr. was charged with felony battery by means of a deadly weapon, battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, attempted battery against a public safety official, strangulation, misdemeanor striking a law enforcement animal, resisting law enforcement and domestic battery, Lake Criminal Court records show.

Family and friends were at a search party Aug. 24 for Ja'Niyah McMichael, 13, who was last heard from Aug. 11. The search group was near the 5300 block of Broadway in Merrillville, according to a probable cause affidavit, when Compton showed up uninvited.

Compton shares children with McMichael's mother, the document said, and he allegedly demanded to take the children with him. McMichael's mother told police Compton had not been involved in the children's lives for a few years so she told him he could not take the kids.

Compton allegedly wrapped his hands around the woman's throat and choked her, the document said. Someone standing nearby pulled the woman out of Compton's grasp as he tried to attack her again.

Compton then punched another woman with brass knuckles, the affidavit said, and a fight ensued. Officers arrived on scene and broke up the fight. Both victims refused medical attention.

When an officer attempted to handcuff Compton, he pulled away, shoved his elbows into the officer's vest and tried to punch him, according to the document. Another officer ordered his K-9 to bite Compton and Compton repeatedly hit the dog in the face until the dog gained control.

Compton was then taken into custody. Police said his eyes were bloodshot and he smelled of alcohol.

The dog's face was swollen and his left eye was bloodshot after he was struck, the affidavit said. A veterinarian who evaluated the dog said he had a broken blood vessel and swollen jaw.

Compton's bail amount has not yet been set. He has not yet made a formal appearance in court, online records show.

Was she seen on surveillance leaving? You don't wear shoes to bed. I'm guessing lured away from home and straight into trafficking.
