Not much coverage that I can easily find since his trial a few weeks ago. Apparently there is going to be a second phase to his trial. No one involved in the case has elaborated as to what the second phase entails, that I could find.

Friday, August 22nd:
*Status Hearing (@ 8:30am CT) - IN - Ke’Andre Shamar Jolly (4) was brutally beaten to death by his cousin because the child put his shoes on the wrong feet on July 28, 2023, Lafayette & died on August 1, 2023. *Montrell Dionte Jolly (33/now 35) arrested (7/31/23) & charged (8/25/23) with murder, neglect of a dependent resulting in catastrophic injury, aggravated battery & battery resulting in death to a person younger than 14 years old. Plead not guilty. Held without bond. Tippecanoe County
Trial began on 7/21/25 with jury selection. Jurors selected. Trial started 7/22/25 & State rested their case on 7/23/25. Defense began their case on 7/23/25 & ended on 7/24/25. Jury deliberations 7/24/25: Verdict: Guilty of neglect to a dependent resulting in catastrophic injufry & aggravated battery & battery resulting in death. Hung on murder charge.

I shall try again at the end of this week or the beginning of the next. I leave for my Holiday on 9/4 - and won't be back until 9/20....

It looks like there was an appearance filed on the defendant’s behalf but not clue what that entailed. Nothing looks to be scheduled & the first Monday of September is a holiday. I would guess waiting until you’re back from holiday & seeing if there are more updates. They seem to be moving slow for whatever reason. Let me know if that sounds good for you.
