OWENSBORO, Ky. — With all leads exhausted, Owensboro Police are hoping the public can provide information to help in the search for a man missing since November.

Police say 56-year-old Wilbur A. "Willy" Pate was last seen leaving the Walmart in Owensboro on Nov. 14. The Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer reports his family last saw him that day and he showed up in video surveillance footage at the store.

Family members reported him missing a week later.

Pate's vehicle was found in the parking lot of the Farmer's Market on Kentucky 405 in Yelvington on Dec. 23.

Officer Michael Hathaway says the Federal Bureau of Investigation was called in to gather any forensic evidence from the vehicle because Pate lived in Indiana, but his car was found in Kentucky.

Wilbur Pate's disappearance is still a mystery six years later

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Wilbur A. Pate’s disappearance is a mystery still waiting to be solved.

Within weeks of learning about it, investigators at the Owensboro Police Department had enough clues to publicly say they suspected foul play.

When Pate’s Ford Explorer was found abandoned in a remote corner of Daviess County, it appeared police had the break they needed.

Six years later, however, the puzzle pieces are still waiting to be put together.
