Also I want to say that I hate twitter. One of the more narcissistic things in our society.

I was just reading the #FindLauren links and some celebrities have tried to get out information which is a good thing.
But then you read the responses from people and it never amazes me how disgusting most of our society is.

How do people like that convince themselves they are worth anything in this world?

I'm interested to know two things...

1. Does the second apartment building have security cameras?

2. Was the last known male she was with a "friend" or a "new acquaintance" from earlier in the evening?
Those are two excellent questions. Regarding no. 2, I *think* the second young man was a friend and not a new acquaintance. That's my impression from listening to Lt. Parker's statements at yesterday's news conference.

Parker said Lauren and friend1 left Smallwood and walked to friend1's apartment. Lauren stayed at friend1's apartment for awhile, and then she went to friend2's apartment a few doors away. She decided to go home around 4:30 am, and friend2 watched her walk to the corner of College and 11th.

Since she didn't have her phone, she could not have received a call from friend2. She could have called him, but if she had just met him that night, and she had been drinking, I doubt she would have remembered his number. Nobody bothers remembering phone numbers these days, or even writing them down, especially college kids. Numbers go directly into cell phones.

If no phone calls were exchanged, then she went to friend2's apartment un-announced. Would she do that if she'd just met the guy? Not unthinkable, but rather unlikely, imo. Unless friend1 and friend2 are, uh... friends of each other, and she met up with friend2 at friend1's place.

That rationale is based on Lt Parker's statements yesterday. Her father's new revelation about other "friends" and an altercation changes the scenario quite a bit.

This case terrifies and intrigues me more than most missing person cases because it hits home. I'm a recent Illini graduate. As an RA, I'd regularly see girls walking home alone late from bars or parties while doing RA rounds. It frightened me even then. I even on occasion walked home alone, while drunk, late at night during a summer stay in Champaign. Thank God I was okay.

Anyhow, I have an insight that I don't think I've seen shared yet.

Recent reports indicate some kind of altercation between Lauren's male friend and some men in Smallwood. Is it possible that those men at Smallwood got angry at Lauren's friend, but Lauren and friend left before anything could happen? Then, perhaps later that night, those same men saw Lauren and recognized her, and decided to get even on her friend by hurting her?

I wonder if police have located and interviewed these men yet? I suppose it's just more questions the police aren't allowed to answer yet... :/

Well, I can answer #1. If the 11th & Morton address is correct, that's a definite no. That corner has practically nothing on it, except a little cluster of 4 older houses that I'm assuming have been split into separate studio-style apartments. I actually lived in a house/apartment really similar to these just a few blocks away when I was a student.

I am having flashbacks to Phylicia Barnes...sincerely hope that this is not a group event, or a cover-up of some kind and that whoever is guilty is arrested quickly...

Interesting point, but I think the other male friends were not happy Lauren was his this "male friend" and were trying to protect her. If they had a problem with this guy I think they would've taken it out on him, not Lauren. It sounds like they were going back to her place and then this fight broke out and she said forget it lets go to your place, which would make sense why she left quickly (didn't bother to go to her apartment and put on another pair of shoes).

Guys, just to update, Lauren's uncle just posted on the missing facebook page that his brother (Lauren's father) never said anything about the altercation. Apparently the media might have made that up.

Interesting. Was there an altercation or was the source (Lauren's father) the made up part?

The source of the altercation by the media was Lauren's father. Apparently, he NEVER said anything about an altercation and the media made it up. Therefore, the altercation at the lobby with other males might be just a rumor.

Lauren's cousins/uncle post on the page, so it seems reliable.

Which facebook page are some of you finding posts? I can't access the one linked above and the other one I find only has "lauren has become friends with...." entries.

Thanks. Wouldn't be the first time the media made something up, sadly.

I am really wondering what her boyfriend thinks of what was going on that night?? It says she was with boyfriend earlier in the night.. So where did he go? I know when I've been in a relationship with a guy and out partying within a group of friends and acquaintances that when one of us got ready to leave the other left as well.. Meaning if I was ready to go then my boyfriend would leave with me..amd vice versa..

That is usually how things go when you are in a relationship.. Unless if say boyfriend had an early class and called it an early night.. I could see her staying out later with girlfriends..emphasis on GIRLfriends..

But we have Lauren leaving the bat at 230am with a male. Not her boyfriend.. They walk to her apt and there is an altercation with a group of males that live in Lauren's same complex. Instead of that being a cue to end this night and Lauren since ready in lobby of apt complex could have easily went safely into her apt where her roomates were.. Nope she turns around and leaves with this male friend and the two of them go to his apt..

Left Kilroy's bar at 2:40..with Lauren leaving behind her shoes as well as her cell phone..she walks barefoot with male friend to Smallwood apts..altercation..then the 2 walk couple blocks to his apt..while enroute to this males apt it is thought that Lauren somehow someway now loses her keys and her purse(really WTH??)..the two arrive at his apt.. some point Lauren then leaves out of this male friends apt that she has gone to and goes a couple of doors down in the same apt complex to ANOTHER male's apt.. Stays an unspecified time as well as time unspecified that she switched male friEnd apts..regardless at 4:30am Lauren says she is tired and would like to head home againwalking barefoot.. With this 2nd male friend watching outside as Lauren makes it walking barefoot, alone to the corner of 11th at 4:30am...

So given that what we know does no one else find it the least bit strange.. That she is in a relationship but doesn't spend the greater portion of this night with boyfriend but ends up with 2 different males and going to these 2 different males different apts during these wee hours of the morning!! ALONE SHE GOES TO TWO DIFFERENT MALES HOMES!! it'd be a totally different thing if it had even been her and group of friends or even just and 1 other friend hitting these couple different guy's pads after a late night of partying at the bar..

But that's not the case here. We are talking this 20 yr old girl who was in a relationship and with her boyfriend earlier that night them ends up spending the rest of the entire night til the wee early morning hours Of the next day, 4:30am hitting two different guys apts??

Many I'm just way old fashioned.. I've only been outta college for 10 yrs.. But maybe I am just way behind the times because this sure does not sound normal to me.. Jmo, tho!

I'm still stuck on the shoes. I don't believe that any girl would leave her shoes at a bar unless she was really really drunk. Once that happened, I don't know why she would go home and then go out again with no shoes unless she couldn't get into her apartment, but the reports are suggesting she lost her purse and keys on the next part of the trip. If that is true, that means she chose to take the walk home again (3rd trip), not only with no shoes, but with no keys as well?

The detail about the argument seems pretty important. It is strange to me that it was made up by the media when they directly quoted the father. If so, that is some seriously irresponsible journalism.

Also, I'm new to this site and haven't paid detailed attention to a lot of missing persons cases - Is this a normal thing for police to say at a press conference when a missing person is not a child?: "Parker held up a sign with Lauren’s picture and said that although she has naturally blonde hair, her hair color could have been altered if she was abducted." I am not going to judge male #1 or #2 for getting a lawyer. My son is that age and in college and if he was the last one to see a drunk girl before she went missing, I am pretty sure we would hire an attorney for him. We would still cooperate in every way possible, but I would want him to be protected from being a scapegoat in case no other POI's were named.

Regarding Lauren's shoes/drunk status... I've been checking her friends facebook and facebook photos and it seems like they were TYPICAL college students: they drank a lot. There are several pictures in which Lauren and her friends look drunk, are smoking, etc...

Nothing out of ordinary, but it definetly proves that Lauren and her friends do drink a lot.

We have seen lots of missing persons cases where police have shown what the person might look like with another hair color just in case it has been dyed. I don't think it means much in this case, sadly. I don't think she was abducted by a stranger...if she was, it was one of the weirdest nights ever.

This case seems very weird to me. Lauren seems to hangout with a group of regular, Jewish kids... They all seem so normal. Why would one of her friends hurt her? They are in their 20's, in college... it makes no sense. Her life seems normal. No enemies, drama...

I think this might have been a stranger/crime of opportunity.
