I'm not sure about the laundromat thing. She was at her mum's and really anxious and worried by the sound of it, thinking about something, her mum asks her what's wrong, maybe she couldn't tell her so just said that someone harassed her at the laundromat (she had just come from there and was going back there). I wonder if she knew she was going to Dayton and was nervous about it? Or maybe the coworker had warned her about something and she had gone to try to sort it out? I know they talked about beauty products apparently but that doesn't mean they didn't talk about other things (or that the coworker told the truth about the phone call).

I feel like TS was jealous, he sent lingerie to her bridal shower, that's a real message, he obviously didn't want her to get married and to me that's trying to humiliate someone.

I also don't think they should read too much into Bobby's actions after. I feel sometimes like they are judgemental of people who are struggling for money. Searching for people is expensive, maybe he was broke, if he literally had no money at that time the logical thing to do is to try to get any money you can so you can search for her (take time off work, print flyers, travel, etc). They just assume people can do these things yet it is a massive financial cost. I felt like the frustration with the college was probably stress and desperation. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong, I didn't get a bad vibe from Bobby personally and I would have cancelled the wedding actually if you stand to lose thousands of dollars and you can use them to search, but the interview with TS had the opposite effect.

The attempted assault sounded serious.

I hope she is found.

[...]

It’s been more than 20 years since Marilyn Renee Niqui McCown went missing. She was last seen at a Richmond, Indiana, laundromat in July 2001.

McCown’s sister, Michelle McCown-Luster, of Dayton, said, “I’ve been broken so many times in these 22 years. But what’s kept me to keep going outside of my kids and family, it’s been Niqui. I’m determined to find out where my sister is, who’s involved in her disappearance, and what happened,”

Now, her family is making sure that no one forgets her name. When Niqui disappeared, Michelle said local media coverage helped but national news outlets did not pick up on her story.

[...]

Jasmine Ellis, CEO and Founder of the Dock Ellis Foundation said, “The media can work better in helping push a positive story. There’s, oftentimes, that you will see somebody reported missing and it’s you know, mother reports son missing, mother believes that son is missing, and then a day later, here comes their criminal record.”

Jasmine, along with Hjordis Ellis, are the co-founders of the Dock Ellis Foundation.

“Everyone deserves the same exact type of attention. If I’m going to give it to little Johnny over here that lives in Beverly Hills that comes up missing, then we need to give the same treatment to little Susie that lives over here in South Central LA when she comes up missing,” Hjordis Ellis said.

[...]

Ohio ranks 11th in the country for missing persons, according to the Dock Ellis Foundation. If you have any information that would be helpful in locating Niqui McCown, please call the Richmond Police Department at (765) 983-7247 or the Dayton Police Department at 937-333 COPS.

Detective Mike Wright took on Niqui’s case two years ago. Since then, he says, he’s been doing everything he can to get her family answers.

His department has conducted new searches of wooded areas in Richmond, hoping to find new evidence. “We’re talking ginormous wooded areas that a handful of people can’t efficiently search,” he said. “So those areas I still find kind of interesting.”

The detective says his office now has Tommy Swint’s old computer. “You’re almost 15 years later, I don’t know if technology’s advanced to where maybe we can get deleted files or any other information,” he said.

Niqui’s case remains an open and active investigation. “The hard part is, we don’t know what happened. We don’t have a body. We don’t have evidence,” Wright said. “We’re gonna continue to follow up on leads and I would just hope that, at some point, if there is someone out there who has information on the case, that someone comes forward.”

A few thoughts:

On True Crime News Detective Miller said it looked like Niqui was the one who drove the car to that apartment complex judging by the seat placement at the time of discovery.
The seat in the vehicle was in a position that would be the place that Niqui would have the seat, at least no one else larger than her would have been driving the vehicle," said Det. Miller.
But the Dayton 24/7 Now video posted above by @imstilla.grandma states otherwise.

According to the initial detective on the case police canvassed the area and spoke with some of the tenants who reported seeing various people driving the car and it had also been seen parked in different parking spots too.

Sidenote; I wonder if the description of the individual seen driving the car is consistent among all the witnesses.

And where was the car for the first month and a half of her disappearance? According to police who interviewed various tenants, the car had been seen by between 2 weeks and 2 months prior to it being found by police. Sometimes actively being driven and other times in various parking spots. It was seen between 2 weeks and 2 months before it was found by police

But it had actually been 3.5 months since Niqui went missing. There’s the first month and a half of the investigation that the car was completely unaccounted for.

Niqui’s family was at that apartment complex many times during the initial stages of the investigation. They never saw the car once. Furthermore, post disappearance, Niqui’s daughter lived at that complex until school started in the fall. This is when she moved in with her grandmother. Maybe that’s why the car was held elsewhere. Wait until the family isn’t constantly around the complex and then leave it there once the initial flurry of activity dies down?

I started thinking more about the lingerie Swint sent Niqui during her bridal shower. It’s quite the statement… sending lingerie to a woman who’s about to marry another man. It’s also blatant, delivering it while she is with family and friends. Gosh poor Niqui. It must have been embarrassing for her to receive such a thing in front of everyone.

Could he have been making a statement or a threat of some kind?

Police have neither confirmed or denied the possibility of an affair between Niqui and Tommy. I still think that’s a possibility.

Perhaps at the tail end of her relationship with her ex Stephen, or while Bobby was in California and they were on a break.

Considering snippets like this from the Dateline article above:

“I remember one time I was on my lunch break, and I said, ‘Let me go over to [Niqui’s] house,’” Michelle recalled. “As I’m approaching the door, I hear someone screaming.”

Michelle said she walked into the house and found Niqui sitting on a chair with her foot pressed on Tommy’s chest. “He’s leaned over and she’s like, ‘Help, he’s trying to rape me.’”

According to Michelle, Tommy tried to play it off and began chasing both of the women. He started chasing us both around and started laughing like he was playing. So I assumed he was playing. I even asked [Niqui] and she was just like, ‘Don’t worry about it.’”

Although she was young at the time, Payton Lackings says she has her own memories of Tommy Swint. “I remember him, as a kid, giving me the heebie-jeebies,” she recalled. “He was someone who I would avoid at all costs if I ever saw him.”

“He didn’t really have any concrete alibis,” Det. Wright said. “There’s complaints about Tommy almost everywhere you look. Sexually harassing women and problems of that nature at work.”

I don’t think Niqui was having any kind of an affair was Swint. I think it’s more likely Swint was an overly infatuated friend/co–worker who Niqui tolerated or was nice to, but she reached her limit once he crossed one line too many.

There are a lot of women who feel uncomfortable being direct with men like that, especially if they are men who are part of their social circle in one way or another. It’s understandable, since creeps like that can be unpredictable and don’t take rejection well— and we already know Swint has the capacity for extreme violence.

But take a look at how the UM segment words it:

However, police later discovered that Niqui made a phone call to a co-worker who lived about a mile from where her SUV was found in Dayton. They talked about beauty products and the friend told Niqui she could purchase the items she was looking for in Dayton.

I assumed the "friend" was female because they were talking about beauty products, but the statement very carefully avoids gender—mentioning only "a co-worker" and "the friend." What if in fact she called Tommy? He lived in the area and was her co-worker.

According to the Missing Niqui McCowan series by Dayton247Now, Episode 2 explains exactly that Tommy delivered Niqui the lingerie. He snuck it into the party by way of another female co-worker. I wonder if that is the same person who she talked to about beauty products?

Tommy also apparently was cheating on his wife with a woman named Darlene who also worked at the corrections facility with Niqui and Swint. She lived in an apartment across from where Niqui's car was found.

Who wants to bet this is all the same person?

Tommy didn't show up for his afternoon/evening shift that Sunday, and he and Darlene showed up to help with flyers on Monday. Darlene needs some pressure applied to tell what she knows.

It has been confirmed that they did go on a date. And he would take her shopping, buy her clothes. She would accept a ton of gifts from him. She would hid them from Bobby by leaving them at her sister or her mother's place until she got paid and would. He would pay for bills and everything, even in front of Bobby (almost to emasculate him).

It's like he was letting everyone know she belonged to him.

the comment that Niqui made stating "don't worry about it" after screaming and yelling rape makes me wonder if she was familiar with this side of him. Almost as if it wasn't the first time. I am open to being wrong, but we don't know for sure either way.

Also, the woman he murdered years earlier, Tina, was a sex worker. I say this with no judgement. I think its possible Niqui might have been in a position and gotten help in return for a favour. Maybe not at the time, in fact likely not at that time.

It would also explain why she never told Bobby the full story, or get him involved. Because there's more here that she was hiding.

Niqui's mother even states in the Dayton24/7 Now series:
"Looking back, I think he was around more than we were aware of"
