The body of a 17-year-old girl who was reported missing over a month ago was found near a bike trail in Kokomo on Monday.

Mea L. Rayls was reported missing on Feb. 8 by her mother.

Rayls was last seen at her home in the 2500 block of North Main Street, according to the Kokomo Police Department.

Rayls body was found in the brush near a bike trail in the 3000 block of North Washington St. around 4:15 p.m. Monday.

The Howard County Coroner is expected to perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death on Tuesday.

Mea Rayls Obituary - Kokomo, IN

Obituary. The family held a memorial service on 3/21.

The obituary mentions that she was preceded in death by her father, Benjamin; he passed away in 2018, aged 35.

Without trying to sound too detached/cold, it's an extremely sad situation all around.

This was ruled a suicide by intentional drug overdose:

Coroner: Missing teen's death ruled a suicide

According to a Monday Howard County Coroner’s Office media release, toxicology results in the autopsy of Mea L. Rayls, 17, of Kokomo, revealed the teen had the prescription medication Methylphenidate in her system at the time of her death, and officials also stated that investigation conducted by the Kokomo Police Department revealed evidence that “indicated the teen’s intention to do self-harm.”

I had to look it up, but Methylphenidate is Ritalin.

Very easy, IMO, for teens to buy or obtain this, even if they themselves do not have a prescription. Many use it recreationally.
