You are the reason I started posting here. This is the forum that people like you ultimately land on, people with true effect and who have been truly effected. It is astonishing to our current sensibilities that a 15 year old girl walking down the road in broad daylight could be taken and killed and literally nothing would ever come of it but it happened - and more than we like to think.

I beg you to go to the effort of becoming a verified insider on this case

Verification Process for Professional or Insider Posters

Once you've been verified by moderators you can post any and all information you feel could possibly be useful on this case, even just stories about Annie could be useful but photos would be great. Any information that came out in 2007. Was the bathing suit preserved? There may still be viable DNA evidence on it.

Crimes like this HAVE been getting solved using big genealogical databases but it takes a particular case getting the investigators' attention. The more we can remind the world that this was a real teenage girl the more likely it will be for her to get justice.

I can’t believe this is the first time in all these years this site popped up in a search. Grrr…

I will go to the verification page immediately. Annie’s case was a mess from the start, incompetent police in a very small town, a presumption of guilt and so many other things that hindered the investigation.

I have at least one picture of Annie, I just need to find it.

I just wanted to *wave*. Annie (her name was Paula but everyone called her Annie) - was my close cousin, we grew up together so we were more than cousins, we were friends. Her case has been a minor obsession for me for 40 years - thank you for remembering her.

This is Annie (Paula Ann). Annie was last seen alive 6/28/1980, she was 15 years old. Annie was a fun & spunky girl, she liked cars & was looking forward to getting her driver’s license. She was a good roller skater.

We spoke on the phone as often as we could (long distance charges were a thing then) and wrote each other letters on stationery that smelled like strawberries. In the summer my parents would put me on a Grayhound to spend a couple weeks back home with my grandparents - a few days of those trip were always set aside for cousin time.

This picture was the “missing” picture.

I have been digging in to Annie’s case off & on for 40 years. I’m going to share things that I’ve learned and things I’ve noticed as I developed a time line, weird coincidences that may be nothing more than having watched too much true crime on television.

I’m preparing myself to dive in feet first and as I share things here, please know I am open to suggestions and advice.

Know there's no judgment here and we all are waiting to hear your point of view. I am so sorry about your cousin - that must've been absolutely crushing when it occurred since you two were so close.

Ok - I have a question. I am genuinely looking for advice.

If you thought you had laid out a strong, but circumstantial case to back up your suspicions of the identity of a killer - what would you do? Contact the appropriate cold case detective is a given but - would you call? Email? Meet in person? would you retain an attorney to handle the communications?

Would you give them everything in one big dump or just enough to get them to start looking into it to see if they were taking you seriously?

I’m sitting here looking at notes & timelines… frankly, I’m a little scared. Anyone ever done something like this before?

Ask to meet in person and then pour it all out. The detective will record or take notes and study what you tell them.

More years have gone by and there’s still no more answers than what we had before. I’ve spent all 28 years that I’ve been alive, wondering what actually happened to Aunt Annie Forever wishing you could’ve been apart of my life.
