Medical experts have identified the skeletal remains of a body found near North Liberty in November.
Medical staff at Western Michigan University helped identify the remains as Rachel Zentz, 43, of LaPaz, Ind. The cause and manner of Zentz's death remain undetermined and the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit asks anyone with information about Zentz to call 574-235-5009.
The remains were first discovered along a creek bed in the 24000 block of Stanton Road, a few miles south of Potato Creek State Park, on Nov. 28.

Zentz’s sister Jill Krou said she filed a missing person’s report after seeing news coverage.
She said Zentz took care of her mother who was battling cancer, before passing away in June.
That is when Krou said she last spoke to Zentz.
Authorities said they believe the remains had been in the ditch for about 5 months, based on the condition. They also said they found a bike, backpack, and personal items in the wooded area.
The area happens to be near a cemetery.
“That is the cemetery where my whole family is buried. And it was the weekend of my mother’s funeral. I think she went out there to be with other family and was followed...I think she was bipolar, but I do not believe that she would kill herself,” Krou said.
Right now, the cause of death is still undetermined.
Anyone with information should contact Michiana Crime Stoppers or St. Joseph County Metro Homicide.

*This appears as a suicide but...I’m not convinced yet. Waiting...I feel like a note would have been found if so. Cause of death if suicide - my guess is overdose on meds left from mom’s passing.
