Relatives, police seek help to find missing pregnant woman
"This should be a happy Christmas season for Rochelle Thomas-Stubblefield and her family.

Thomas-Stubblefield's 21st birthday is Christmas Day, and by then, she should have delivered her baby.

But Thomas-Stubblefield is missing. She disappeared after leaving class at Calumet College of St. Joseph in Whiting on Nov. 10 and hasn't been seen or heard from since.

Her baby is due Tuesday, and relatives were eager to meet the newest addition to the family.

But "in my house, it's been a cloud over the celebration of Christmas. No one knows where she is, if she's safe. It's hard to think about Christmas without her," her cousin, Lajuaina Riley, of Merrillville, said Friday.

The family has printed full-color fliers and distributed them across Northwest Indiana and through social media.

Though I'm not accusing anyone, when a pregnant girl/woman who is close to delivering goes missing my mind always wants to know about the father of the baby....is he in the picture? Did he want the baby? Or perhaps her family didn't like the father of the baby and she left with him?

That's always the problem, lack of info. Still we muddle on and solve it anyways, sometimes..

Police have questioned some people and have identified a "person of interest," but said that person refused to cooperate in the investigation. Dickerson would only say that the person was someone Thomas-Stubblefield knows.

Her due date was Dec. 15.

"She was last seen wearing black jeans and a maroon Calumet College of St. Joseph sweatshirt," the statement reads. Stubblefield went to the school, and classmates told investigators she attended a basketball game the evening she vanished.

Police are not commenting on a "person of interest" who they claim to have identified in connection with Stubblefield's disappearance. No charges have been filed against that person.

Friends, coaches wonder what happened to missing student

Thomas-Stubblefield was eight months pregnant when she disappeared, shortly before her due date and shy of her 21st birthday on Christmas Day.

Her family held a news conference last December with police to try to get the community's help in finding her. But a year later, few answers have been made public about what happened to Thomas-Stubblefield.

Still, those who knew Thomas-Stubblefield said they haven't forgotten about their friend as they wait for answers.

"We haven't given up and we're not going to give up," Figueroa said.

They do. By the time the police came to interview people at her college, the case was being handled by the homicide division.
