Sam Guillen, of Schererville, family has not heard from him or seen him since Aug. 2, when he told family members he was going to live in Valparaiso with a friend. He drives a blue 2004 GMC Sonoma with an Indiana In God We Trust license plate.

It's not that far of a drive (35 min'ish). Just south of Lake Michigan and directly east. There are a couple areas that I would look if I was LE of family. In the event there was an accident. His car must still me missing, also.
But, what does the friend say? Did he ever make it there? Do they even know who this "friend" is?

US 30 is the likely route and is well-traveled. It sounds like he is a scrapper, so I’d start with his scrapping buddies. Unfortunately since scrapping usually pays in cash, it can make someone a target.

It also sounds like he may have had a falling out with family that led to the announcement that he is moving to Valporaiso and the time period before he was reported missing. MOO.

Great find, @iulia! Hopefully Sam is somewhere safe. He is not currently listed on the Indiana State Police Missing Person Bulletin, but then we never documented if he was ever listed as missing by the Indiana State Police. There was no update on the MSM in the OP.
