This is like a bad soap opera

That's the understatement of the year. I had so many FB tabs open of ex-fiances now friends with current spouses, step-kids OLDER than step parents... I had to close all those tabs before I became my own daughter.

If the baby was living at Grandma's house full time (as her Mommy has said), and the conditions of filth and squalor were as bad as the maintenance man has said, I wonder why Mommy let Shaylyn stay there? Maybe I've missed something along the way.

I thought mom and dad shared custody -- half time with mom, half time with dad? Mom may not have had much say in what happened. If she didn't have the money to fight for full physical custody and if CPS didn't have any reason to remove Shaylyn from dad's home, then mom didn't have much power. It's not all that easy to remove a child from a parent. There has to be immediate risk to a child's health.

Legally she would have had to let her go to her father's home for visitation. CPS or the court would have to get involved before any changes could be made.

I'm not talking just about visitation, which would be bad enough, but the arrangements went from one week on and one week off for each parent to full time with the father because (mommy said) it was more convenient due to her school schedule. The mother said she was going to school to make a better life for her children. I'm beginning to question that statement. IMO

WOOPS, one of us goofed - probably me. My info was for Shaylyn's father Justin, not for step-grandfather DM. In any event, stepson and step-dad appear to be 4 years apart. That's rather curious.

Creeps me out - especially after seeing TM's hand dangerously close to her son's crotch during one of the interviews :blushing:

I thought the baby lived there when she was younger, not recently.

I believe it was in the Mother's first interview that she said Shaylyn had been living there full time for convenience due to her school schedule. Didn't anyone else read that?

I hadn't heard Shaylyn was living at the house full time. I thought they had shared custody.

Yes, they did share custody. According to the mommy, it was one week on and one week off, but when she started school, it was more convenient (because of her schedule) for Shaylyn to live with the father full time. At least that's what I recall.

It reminds me of that song....."I'm my own Grandpa!"

Not sure what you mean by that.

I think she means that Kyle lists his occupation as working in a funeral home. I am not sure if he really does though.

Just my opinion here, but I think that the grandmother knows more than what she is saying. I mean Justin Ammerman handed her that phone when the news station asked him if there's anything he would like to say or if there's anything the news channel could do to help. He just gives the phone to her. I wonder if she's the one that controls things going on in that household. The father is in his late 20's. I'm sure he can figure out what he wants to say about his own daughter. I wonder if the grandmother is the driving force in trying to keep everyone's stories together.

People are referring to them as 'special needs' . I wonder if that is true.

Here's the link to the page where Shaylyn's mom comment about her skin condition. Her name is Jessica Mae Stewart and she replied in the comments under her video interview with the Herald Times which was posted there on March 24, at 6:39pm. There are 20 comments under the video.

Sorry, but it won't let me copy a direct link to her comment.

From heavy.com, Jessica speaking:

"Tammy has mentioned several times taking Shaylyn away from me, never letting me see her. When we came up with a week-on-week-off arrangement, everything settled though. I was in CNA class, and was in class all day and had homework at night, so I mean I was in class for about two months I think … and, ugh, he had her, and they had her a majority of the time. She held that against me and said I abandoned her. But all I was doing was trying to make a better life for her. Was easier for him to have her to get stuff done. Me and her have always butted heads. She seems to want Shaylyn as her daughter because she never had that herself, because she only had sons."
