It was written & updated 3/26, right after the baby's body had been found. No new information in it.

I just hadn't read it. So I figured at least it could be posted for reference if needed. [emoji6]

Edit: with the mention of marijuana (I genuinely have no idea) would that intensify the effects of the whisky, therefore making his desires stronger?

Admin Note

We have a fresh, new thread and let's start it off right - posting within Websleuths Rules and TOS.

We are a victim friendly forum. The ultimate victim here is precious Shaylyn. And until LE indicates otherwise, her surviving family are also considered victims. That includes her father, grandmother, uncles, step-parents and step-grandparents.

I totally understand the feelings about some of the actions and living conditions regarding the home environment. I understand the outrage about some of the statements given. HOWEVER, the FACT is, though at this time though LE has indicated the investigation is still open, they have only arrested and charged ONE person, Kyle Parker. Furthermore, Kyle Parker's step-father, Mike Patton, made the following statement:
Patton said Parker confirmed he’d acted alone in Shaylyn’s death and disappearance.
http://fox59.com/2016/03/28/man-cha...in-death-of-spencer-toddler-shaylyn-ammerman/

Again, until LE indicates otherwise, Shaylyn's family are to be considered victims. No more bashing of this family is going to be tolerated. We're not insisting you like them, agree with their morals, style of living, or anything else BUT we are saying that your posts need to be victim-friendly. No more circular arguments or imposing your own values as superior. People that appear to be unsavory can be victims as well. Please muster some compassion as none of us have any idea how this family is suffering. I'm sure they have their own regrets. For Websleuths purposes, they get the benefit of the doubt. If LE indicates otherwise, then we will advise of changes.

Instead, focus on the facts as we know them. The timeline, the maps, etc., per LE statements, facts posted in MSM articles. In short, SLEUTH more instead of posting in a judgemental fashion.

Time Outs will be issued for not respecting these parameters I've set forth.

Although there has been an arrest made in Shaylyn's death, I would like to know if there are still any POI's. I can't seem to find an answer to this. TIA.

Community says goodbye to baby Shaylyn
Although he was thankful for the chance to grieve, Sgt. Durnil knows there’s more work to be done. He said investigators still need to collect more evidence and interview more persons of interest.

“When I say persons of interest, it’s a huge span on everybody from who was in the house that night to who saw somebody that was in the house that night, who spoke to somebody that was in the house that night,” he said.

LE have issued no statements that I am aware of since Monday when Kyle Parker was charged with abduction, rape and murder of Shaylyn Ammerman. The statement issued at that time was that they were still actively investigating the case. I would expect that. There is still much to be done in building the case against Kyle Parker. IME LE often do not come out after the fact to make the public aware that previous POIs are now cleared.

What we do know is that Kyle has been charged. No others have. Kyle's stepfather told LE that Kyle confessed to him that he acted alone. That is what we have. It is what it is.

These are the current dates for the trial and the pre-trial hearings, which may change over time:

Judge Thatcher Quillen said the charge of murder is a non-bondable offense, meaning Parker will remain incarcerated at the Owen County Jail pending an August 10 jury trial, set for 9:00 a.m. Parker will next appear before the court on May 26 at 10:30 a.m. for his first pretrial hearing, the second is set for July 22, and a third pretrial hearing will take place on August 5, both at 10:30 a.m.

Supposedly he had a mental evaluation Wednesday but I haven't seen anything in msm saying it was done or the results.

http://indianapublicmedia.org/news/suspect-shaylyn-ammerman-case-suicide-watch-96180/

Also, as far as I know the Probable Cause document hasn't been released, just paraphrased in msm. The 911 call hasn't been released either.

Hopefully we'll hear more about the status of the case this week. I especially am eager to hear about evidence LE has apart from Kyle's confession, though they may not share that until he's closer to trial.

From what I've read about bleach (dilute sodium hypochlorite) and DNA it does seem possible that bleach could degrade DNA and/or interfere with polyermerase chain reaction (PCR), which replicates DNA in testing. At the same time I read that DNA is fairly hardy so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Plus, we don't know how well Kyle's bleach cleaning was.

P.S. Nancy Grace said he used hydrogen peroxide. That's incorrect - he used bleach.

Bleach. As if Shaylyn hadn't been defiled enough. I'm having a tough time taking in what happened to her.

There was another article that quoted her saying he was drinking. So confusing.

But the chair he slept in when he "stayed overnight" like a slumber party?! I'm speechless. I'm trying to follow the rules and don't know if it's ok to comment more than that. But I'm pretty sure you all catch my drift.

Sounds more like a halfway house to me because the perp. wasn't the only stranger/friend? coming and going from that residence from what we have read, there was JA's ex g/friend and her new b/friend as well breezing in and out at all hours and who knows who else?

I think it definitely would of enhanced his feelings, but other people drink & smoke MJ but don't rape & murder babies, although alcohol has the tendency to make a lot of young men and some women very violent & aggressive. It all depends what they are drinking and how it affects their brain.

why was a grown man spending the night? I can see young guys maybe in their early 20s without kids or without living with their parents maybe drinking late at night and a friend crashing on the couch. But this was a family setting with extended family and a baby and these guys aren't that young. Why on earth would he be sleeping over regularly? That is bizarre to me.

*I hope this post is within the TOS, but if it's not then please delete it. I'm not purposely trying to say anything wrong, I'm finding it difficult to find the line between what is and isn't acceptable.

I wonder if KP had a permanent place of residence at all seeing as he stayed at other people's places? Was he homeless otherwise?

True, I would suspect Kyle had probably been a whiskey drinker. But we don't really know for sure. Something set him off that night.

I'll never forget the time when my ex, (emphasis on ex), arrived home late from work with a couple of ragtag buddies in tow in various stages of inebriation. I knew one of them but not the other. I went into the kitchen to turn dinner off since there was no way I was feeding these unannounced 'guests'. (Kids had already been fed). In the minute I was gone, I returned to find my 2 year old on the lap of a stranger. He told me he had kids back east that he really missed and just wanted to hug my child. I removed my child away from him immediately, (father was oblivious, again, emphasis on ex). I didn't care what his story was. This was 40 years ago, when we really didn't worry about stuff like that, but it set me off, because you just don't know.

tiffay01 and Karinna, is there no 'Stop' button? Do they reach a point of no return? My heart aches over this.

There's this but honestly I don't know how accurate any statements are at this point:

Adam Ammerman told detectives he had invited Parker to the house to watch a movie and drink. He and Parker purchased a fifth of vodka and a fifth of whiskey from a local liquor store.

Parker told authorities he drank about a quarter-pint of whiskey that night.

http://www.idsnews.com/article/2016/03/spencer-man-charged-with-rape-murder-of-child

A quarter pint is about 100 ml or 3.4 ounces, adjusting for the "modern" fifth, which is actually 750 ml. (25.4 oz.). So just under a half cup. Good call on guessing he's a whiskey drinker. ;)

What set him off? Good question and one I've been thinking about for a long time. I really think he is an opportunistic predator versus a pedophile but IMO there also is an additional factor that draws him and other killers to the little ones. I just don't know what it is. In so many cases the perp kills in a very short period of time. Gabe Gaeta, Adrian Gonzalez, Justin Rector and Donald Smith, to name a few, killed their "prey" in a matter of hours or less.

So it seems to be about some frenzied, uncontrollable act that makes the perp ignore the risks.

BBM, Yeah i'm not sure what he was as far as alcohol is concerned, but there is this article:
(Quote):
Court records show Parker has had past run-ins with the law in Owen County on charges of drug possession and criminal trespassing. RTV6 couldn't find any felony charges on record.
http://www.theindychannel.com/news/local-news/suspect-arrested-in-shaylyn-ammerman-case

So he was into marijuana, and perhaps if he couldn't get any of that maybe alcohol was the next best thing?
Is it a known Fact that he brought a bottle of whiskey to the Ammerman house? or was it available there i wonder? Will have to go back and see what i can find about it. Just asking because it could go toward premeditation of abducting Shaylyn, just like getting the bleach to try and hide his crime.

Jackeee, i really don't know, but have read that child abuse/molestation happens in all walks of life from wealthy people down through the lower socio economic groups. In a lot of cases we read on WS's drugs come into play where the murders of little ones happen, and possibly alcohol too.
A lot of alcoholics also abuse & rape their children, so it happens in families where parents perpetrate these horrible acts on children who should be able to learn love and trust from their parents, but who are violated instead and grow up psychologically broken. It is a horrible fact of the societies we live in and there needs to be zero tolerance for it and very harsh penalties because children today are the adults of tommorrow and the biggest responsibility we have as parents is to raise wholesome future generations. All IMO.

I have not read about LE clearing anyone in the A household, but i would imagine all from that day would still be regarded as POI until LE's investigation is final.

Back in the 70's, I was not a helicopter mom. I don't remember that term or when it came into being. However, now that I know about it, I am definitely a helicopter grandma! "Don't even think about it!"
