I agree. There IS a difference in preferring a 15 year old and a 5 year old. However, the laws are in place to protect vulnerable people from predators. The relationship the older adult male wants with the teen is not, usually, in the best interest of the teen. Yes, there are exceptions! No need to point them out to me that some mutually-loving matches started with a teen and older man. But, that's not what Jared was looking for, imo, and not what the porn industry is promoting. Once you're an adult and want to engage in sexual encounters with people much older than yourself, you make your own decision to do so. But as a teen and a child, the laws are there to protect you against being used. (The laws are not against teens having sex with partners their own age.)

But, yes, I can see how adult males are attracted to physically-developed teenage girls. But that doesn't makes it okay to "f" them just cause they arouse you, ykwim?

Jared said 'the younger the better'. He didn't want a 16 or 17 year old, that was just what was available to hire for sex. He didn't want someone closer to being an adult, he wanted a child, IMO.

Page 4, definition 13 states that the defendant knew that the minors in the videos were 13-14 years old.

Page 10, definition 42 states that the defendant solicited other escorts for victims in the 14-15 year old range.

I thought I saw a reference to "as young as twelve", too. Let me keep searching.

What I really don't understand is how do two grown men ever have the convo that they are into CP? If someone asked my hubby that, I imagine they would get a beat down and my hubby is not a violent person at all.

And I could even see a man being attracted to a younger, but more developed girl. I mean for real, I'll be 30 in March and Kylie Jenner looks older than me. However, this is so much darker and deprived than that. I completely agree those girls need to be protected by laws keeping them from the men that would pursue them, but I can understand a guy saying "wow she is pretty" and leaving it at that.

I think the laws for crimes like this need to so severe, and non negotiable, that it will remove men like this from our society. However, they need to be written in a way that wouldn't ruin the lives of a 19 year old boy dating a 16 year old.

There was a discussion of is weight loss etc and mention was made of Jared's "Other issues". The girls looked so sad and rather grave when it came up. Does anyone else recall that ?

Still though....what he did was so foul. And as always I fear for the kids involved and the ones who have not come forward/been found.

The court document detailing the charges against Fogle states that he paid for sex at New York City hotels with two girls under age 18, one of whom was 17. The plea agreement refers to the two as being 16 and says that one of them also had sex with Fogle after she turned 17. Federal prosecutors could not explain the discrepancy between the two documents.


The documents said Fogle knew those depicted were minors, some as young as 13 or 14 years old, and in some cases knew the minors involved by name and had met them "during social events in Indiana."

Am I the only person around here that doesn't believe a man attracted to a teenager is a creep? Come on, people, it's evolution. Men are hardwired to be attracted to fully sexually developed, young women. Culturally, we have moved away from 14 year old girls being married to 30 year old men, but that is a very new development in our history. 100 years ago that was common. Were all those people pedophiles? Of course not. Am I saying it is ok nowadays to do it? Of course not. I am just pointing out that being attracted to such young women is a huge part of the reproductive instinct of males. I am sure over 90% of men have such feelings, if not more. Thankfully, most of them keep them in check, though some go "American Beauty" on them.

Leaving aside what the law says, I don't see someone attracted to a 16 year old, fully developed teenager as a pedophile. For me, pedophiles are the one abusing children, that is anyone under 14, kids with no secondary sexual traits developed whose sexuality is impulsive, and not thought out (aka who masturbate in public because it feels goood versus who do it at home with a playbody and lotion).

I think it's much more common today for a person to mistake a 14 or 15 yr old for a 17 yr old. We've all seen the modern girls. I've got a 17 yr old and she and her friends have looked much older than my peers did at that age. So for a guy to meet a gal at a party and she appears every bit of legal age and is not is certainly an issue today. But Fogle made no mistake . He sought out underage kids specifically due to their age. He gets no passes from me.

As mom to a 15 year old daughter, I do! I don't care what the age of consent is - it's beyond disturbing that any 30+ year old man would be interested in a teenager, full stop. Fully developed or not, teenagers are still children - vulnerable, mistake-making, trying to find their way in the world, kids.

Incidentally, 100 years ago a stamp costs 2 cents, a gallon of milk 36 cents, and the median age of women to marry was actually 21 years old. As such, I'd argue that marrying at 14 was common. The lowest median age for the past few hundred years was 20...in 1950.

Not sure what either point has to do with Jared. According to his plea agreement, he had in his possession commercially produced child pornography of children as young as age six.

He had home-produced child pornography of his employee's kids, the youngest of which was 9.

He appears to be a pedophile.

This is just a hunch, not based on anything I've read about the case....

I'm guessing that Jerod was into teenage girls and that's who he solicited for his own sexual pleasure. I'm thinking that the images of the much-younger kids was for sharing or selling. He has a past of making money from distributing porn (the video business he had in college) and perhaps the images of children filled his desire for money and perhaps he got pleasure in exploiting both the victims and the buyers.

I think he got off on being the "aw shucks, I lost weight on Subway" every-man hero while at the same time having dirty, secret side businesses. The images of the young kids was part of his dirty double life, while when he actually wanted sex on the side, he wanted a teen, imo.

I suppose it doesn't really matter. The bottom line is he victimized people.
