IN - Terry and Darleen Anderson Murder, Mungo, 22 Oct 2005 - #3

  • #341
Thanks DK for your clarification in post #334. It is much appreciated.
:blowkiss:

Like, gaia, I too believe the crime scene was not secured properly and the house released way too soon. Did LE perhaps think this was going to be a case easily solved and made the wrong judgement too soon?

I am still very very uncomfortable with their apparent overwhelming concern about 'mistakes' and what DK has shared about the locals having little confidence. I am happy to hear local voices going over local LE if they really have that lack of confidence.

Rosco, I thought you were not going to have the Iron Man on Fathers day weekend again due to a low turn out previously, maybe I was mistaken? or did you change your mind on that.

hugs my friend.
We really should try and plan Kiddie land, as this is the last year. :(

Maybe that was the reasons for LE to opening the house so quickly and THEN.... time ticks away and it's clear that they will NOT have the perp in jail... but too late?? No idea what LE's mind. BUT be aware - there was all the other organizations involved at the time.. not just local LE... so it was clear all said scene was clear.

Yea - heard about kiddyland and closing this year! We certainly HAVE to make some plans. July is really booked for me.. but I will PM u and see if Aug will work.

I really have no control over when Iron Man will take place. I had asked the musky club to prolly change the date (last year I asked) but when the schedule came out it was again scheduled during the Father's Day weekend. Oh well.. nothing I can control. I will (again) ask for the date to maybe be changed for 2010... but they do have other tourney's and might not be able to..

All my love Cubby...

Can state LE go around the local LE and make an arrest? I surely hope so, and I'm afraid that's what it's going to take.

I was just reading about another case in which LE goofed, but the difference is they owned up to it whereas the Mongo or County in this case has not. They want their respect back, they're going to have to earn it.

Well... JT.. State and Local LE are one-in the same as far as Dad and Darleen's case. I (personally) call and email State LE on the case ~ so it's not a matter of one over the other with an arrest or leads.
I am not too sure local 'mishandled' the case at all.
Do keep in the mind that there were so many different organizations at the property on Oct 21st and they ALL released the scene.. not just local LE.

Thanks for posting and reading Dad and Darleen's case TWALL...

I (too) certainly hope that Gov's hands in this case it could help solve it -OR- at the very least it certainly did put a 'fire' in it to get it going again... I could tell that from my meeting with LE...

Always praying for justice TW... and tick/tock... it will happen soon..

Rosco

If Mitch Daniels has anything to do w/getting this crime solved I will have a new outlook and respect for him. I am a local and did not vote for him last election.

My heart is with Terry and Darleen's family everyday. I come here all the time to see if there is any new news because I would probably hear it here first before the local media!

That info just blows me away. I would've thought it would've been local's crime scene, and if they decided to release it, the others would just have to go along with them.

How long is the "norm" for LE to secure property in a case like this? In most cases, it seems like it's a long time. It really shocked me that A was able to remove things from the property as soon as she was.

  • #346
Yeah, me too. If I am correct she was removing items from the scene while the police were there and it was still an active crime scene!

Yeupppppperrrrooo!!!

The day after we arrived - this was the day that LE allowed us on the property... LE was opening the safe dad had in th barn and murder/s were unable to open ~ and A and her cronies were right there when opened and ALL the guns and money was taken ~ and right under the noses of LE.

Appears it did not cause THEM (LE) to flinch. DH and I were simply STUNNED and fuming!!:furious::eek::furious:

In my last meeting with LE they questioned WHY dad would even purchase this type of safe. Why so important to have safe in farm house of Mongo IN??? LE thinks that Dad was very aware of the possible of theft in his area/home and maybe even w/i his own circle of trust.

HUmmmmm... i really dont know..:waitasec:

It's is a fact Dad was aware of 'A' and XBF's drug use/abuse as he mentioned that to a friend (not to us) and Darleen also said to co-worker her concerns about 'A' and drug abuse/use.

Over 3 years later, they asked why your dad would have such a safe? So far as I know, a person has a safe to keep things safe? No raised eyebrows right after the crime and they allowed A and clan to raid the "safe"... and now they ask? Ugh!

Wouldn't it be procedure for LE to secure the contents of the safe, rather than let a bunch of yahoos to walk off with guns and money?

  • #349
It sure doesn't seem that strange to me to keep guns and money locked in a safe......it seems like a pretty SAFE place to keep something like a dangerous firearm.

It is crazy to let a bunch of people start carting off valuables and god knows what else from a crime scene. Crazy and irresponsible and negligent. Ooooo, it makes me really frustrated!

A safe certainly protects grandchildren from gaining access to a firearm. I actually think that is a dumb statement made by LE. Gun safes are very common among the gun owner crowd, not to mention it as a safe place for valuables and important papers as well if it's got some fireproofing.

We have zero dollars, but lock our guns up... in a safe. (Unique, itsn't it?)

I know people who work in the medical field with death cases- if a person "passes" before they are a certain age and is without illness, an autopsy is performed and crime scenes are secured? I can even try to understand a person can die and there is no reason anyone can see for the death. But in this incident, TWO people died, from causes that weren't ordinary... and yet... the scene they "passed" at, wasn't well secured? Even before there could be an autopsy done- their home was "free game"?

I am sorry, if I come across as rude, and I totally understand a town that hasn't seen anything this horrible in many years or, ever! I have to wonder... why wouldn't more effort have been put into a case that obviously wasn't natural? I think, at this point, I am just sick and tired of the term "unsolved".

Rosco, you have shown such class and dignity in this situation. I applaud you. I realize, it doesn't mean much BUT... we're all behind you, in your search for justice. Bless you and yours! :blowkiss:

Anything new going on? Any movement at all on the case?

HI Yall'

Been gone for about a week. Drove to Ft. Benning GA. My DN graduated boot-camp. Serving our country and we all drove down from Chi=Town to see graduation. Proud. Dad would be proud.

A new story has broke with Dad and Darleen's case. This 'style' of story might set a different tone to some...

True Crime Diary:

http://www.truecrimediary.com/index.cfm

The writer reached out to me.... and gave me their thoughts on the whole story. Read WS and Topix and made their own conclusions. Pretty easy tho.

Nothing new... Ms 'A' is still in Michigan's Finest Jail system as far as I know... prolly will be there until courtdate. Maybe she is clear-headed right about now and is thinking about the last 4yrs (that's 3.5 with the murders and .5 of her own before the murders)

All is well. Just waiting.

Tick/Tock.

Rosco, Thanks for the link to the truecrime "article". I hope the exposure brings in some tips! Praying for justice!!! :blowkiss:

Nice Article! A lot of people read True Crime Diary and the more exposure, the better.

I'm so glad another article was put out there!

Rosco, so glad to see something else in print. It was a good article.

If your half-sister has sobered up in jail, maybe it would be a good time to write her a letter. Obviously before when you saw her in person, she was doing drugs. Clean, she may be willing to talk with you, esp. if she thinks she has something to gain from it like immunity if she spills the beans on some of her cohorts.

I just don't understand why LE isn't talking to her now that she's locked up and drug free. You know, they can lie and tell her they've got her & her friends, make her believe she's about to be charged. She's bound to have heard something even if she wasn't directly involved. She's gotta know who did this.

Any idea where the ex-boyfriend is--the one who was the ex at the time of the murders?

Hi All,
I have been reading this thread and the topics (spelling) one for the last couple of days, it is such a sad story that it draws you right in. Rosco and Family I am truely sorry for your loss your Father and Stepmother sound like two wonderful people.....

I belive two people (a man and a woman) carried out this crime and that both individulals were well known to your parents and were very comfortable around the house. I think they arrived in the truck your grandmother saw and were welcomed into the house by your parents. I think the man when down to the barn with you Dad to unplug the charger while the woman made the popcorn for your Stepmum (the popcorn has always puzzled me I don't know anyone who can make popcorn and not eat some when transfering it from pot or microbag to bowl.....and yet there was no popcorn found in the autopies) I think the person who made the popcorn killed your Stepmum within seconds of handing her her bowl.
At the same time the man killed your father in the barn they then cleaned up the evidence of there presents (eg glasses plates etc) took the some stuff with them to make it look like a robbery.. (they may even of got the stuff together earlier in the day and had it ready).
They then tied up the dog so it wouldn't follow there truck and also so Grandmother wouldn't see him running around and come looking to early.

The reason was greed pure and simple...
I belive the will that was left (although not legal) was written a few years before when your parents had gone on holidays together it seem very strange that it was so easily located after the event.
Also I wonder if there was any way your father could of stopped/ or delayed A from getting her trust money at 21.
I know that as a person who had experienced addiction problems in the past he may well of seen some signs and from what I have read he would of been trying to help her and maybe pushing for her to go into rehab....
I hope that before too long there will be an answer for you and your families

(please excuse the spelling )
