Unfortunately we don't know that for sure, yet. He did get onto the island and they did handle his body and his personal possessions. There's an incubation period for diseases.

I came across this article when researching something else and then got interested reading this. I then searched to see if WS had a thread and indeed we do, so I am posting the article on here.
It seems quite a comprehensive article with a lot of detail about the case. I don't think it has been posted previously.
