'Insane' Kansas City Water Slide Reaches 17 Stories

Thank you for the pictures, Jewels53! They turned out very well. :loveyou:
Forget about the slide, I'd never make it up the steps!

From what I see in #3 where the end of the slide is now, either it will be longer, or I hope that thing it ends in is temporary. Surely they will build a larger pool for people to land in.

There was a small area where I could pull off the road right there where I took the picture's. There was a dumpster right in the way at the end of the slide. I have it the picture but cropped it out. I could not believe all of the abandoned construction material on the outside of the fence. This was stuff between me and the fence to the park. I guess they figure the tall grass will cover it up in the spring and summer.

Yes that is a lot of steps, but the slide doesn't look as steep as from the top. Not that I would go on it either. lol

Here is the un-cropped picture:

Thanks again! Yep, they definitely have a lot of more work to do on the landing section. First, it needs to be in water! lol

I'm surprised they are allowed to leave all that material outside the fence. Seems it would be a hazard.

Scroll on down in that article above and you will see the video of the Mayor of Kansas City, Kansas and 2 other people going all the way down the slide.

Accident waiting to happen. Hope the park has excellent insurance.

In my "invincible" days I may have at least thought about it. Nope, noway, not now, not ever.

You called it. It is unsafe.

Ya know what… while the initial drop is scary, I would be more worried about that middle hill. Hit it at a high speed and there is the potential of going airborne. I'm no water slide expert, but having been on some with multiple drops, it is always that middle one that sends you soaring right into the air, where your life flashes before your eyes. lol

Gives me chills to see what this wise poster said close to 3 years ago...
I'm going to have to stay off of this thread. It really makes me angry to see corporate greed and desire for status to have the biggest, tallest, etc and not really give a rats a** about safety. Greed at it's finest. RIP Caleb. Prayers for Mom, Dad and siblings.

What about the safety netting?

IIRC, the netting was being taken down on the section or at least part of the netting where Caleb was injured. Surely that is being replaced.

Also, what about the reports on the safety harness's that did not stay shut?

This haste to reopen this ride is not only in poor judgement, it shows a lack of the owners' concern in their responsibility of safety to the public! MOO.
