Thread to discuss the interviews, questions about wording, things that look like movie quotes or quotes from somewhere else.

First Family Statement Feb 4

Savannah:
"On behalf of our family. We want to thank all of you for the prayers for our beloved mom, Nancy. We feel them and we continue to believe that she feels them, too. Our Mom is a kid, loyal, fiercely loving woman of goodness and light. She's funny and spunky and clever. She has grandchildren that adore her and crowd around her and cover her with kisses. She loves fun, and adventure. She is a devoted friend. She is full of kindness and knowledge. Talk to here and you'll see

Annie:
The light is missing from our lives. Nancy is our mother, we are her children. She is our beacon. She holds fast to joy in all of life's circumstances. She chooses joy day after day .Despite having passed though great trials of pain and grief. We are always going to be merely human, just normal human people who need our mom. Mama, Mama. If you’re listening, we need you to come home. We miss you.

Savannah:
Out mom is our heart and our home. She is 84 years old. Her health, her heart is fragile she lives in constant pain, she is without any medicine. she needs it to survive and she needs it not to suffer.

We too have heard the reports about a ransom report in the media. As a family we are doing everything we can. We are ready to talk. However we live in a world where voices and images are easliy manipulated.

We need to know without a doubt that she is alive and that you have her. We want to hear from you, and we are ready to listen. Please reach out to us.

Mommy, if you are hearing this you are a strong woman. You are God's precious daughter, Nancy. We believe and know that even in this valley He is with you. Everyone is looking for you, mommy, everywhere. We will not rest. Your children will not rest until we are together again. We speak to you every moment and we pray without ceasing and we rejoice in advance that the day that we hold you in our arms again. We love you, mom
Annie
We love you mom
Cameron
We love you, mom. Stay strong
Annie
We love you..we love you."

We haven't heard anything directly and we need you to reach out and we need a way to communicate with you so we can move forward. But first we have to know that you have our mom. Up to 1 million dollar reward Feb 24

Savannah:
"Hi there,
I don't know what to say. It is day 24 since our mom was taken in the dark of night from her bed and every hour and minute and second and every long night has been agony since then of worrying abut her and fearing about her and aching about her and most of all just missing her, just missing her.

We know that millions of you have been praying so many people have been praying of every faith and no faith at all, praying for her return and we feel those prayers. Please keep praying without ceasing, we still believe, we still believe in a miracle, we still believe that she can come home

Hope against hope, as my sister says we are blowing on the embers of hope

We also know that she may be lost, she may already be gone. She may have already gone home to the lord that she loves and is dancing in heaven with her mom and her dad and with her beloved brother Pierce and with our Daddy.

And if this is what is to be then we will accept it, but we need to know where she is. We need her to come home. For that reason

We are offering a family reward of up to a 1 million dollars for any information that leads us to her recovery. All of the information about this reward and the details are in the caption below. You can call the 1 800 tip line, you can be anonymous if you want. Someone out there knows something that can bring her home. Somebody knows and we are begging you to please come forward now.

We also know that we are not alone in our loss. We know that there are millions of families that have suffered with this kind of uncertainty and for that reason today, we also are donating 500,000 dollars to the national center for missing and exploited children for their work in helping families who are coping with loss and actively looking for those who are lost.

We are hoping that the attention that has been given to our mom and our family will extend to all the families like ours who are in need and need prayers and need support.
So please if you hear this message, if you've been waiting and you haven't been sure, let this be your sign to please come forward, tell what you know and help up bring our beloved mom home. So that we can either celebrate a glorious miraculous homecoming or celebrate the beautiful, brave and courageous and noble life that she has lived. Please be the light in the dark. Thank you."

"Please — be the one that brings her home," Savannah Guthrie wrote in a Friday Instagram caption attached to a clip of a "TODAY" show segment about the case. She reminded followers that "Tips can be anonymous, reward can be paid in cash."

She also brought attention to the family reward of up to $1 million for her mother's recovery, which the family announced on Tuesday.

In another Friday Instagram post, Savannah Guthrie re-posted a shortened version of one of her previous videos with the caption: "Please bring her home. You can be anonymous."

I am not familiar with covert communications to outside entities. What struck me as odd were certain words used over and over.
  1. "You are not alone"- That assumes whoever they are referring to IS aone? Or maybe trying to connect with one of many, get them to come forward?
  2. "Lost" - "you are not lost", "she may be lost".
  3. "bring her home"- implies they know she is likely deceased and they just want to knows where she is. But why this phrase? Why not "Please let us know where she is". I am trying to discern the difference and why it matters, because it obviously does.
When I hear things more than once, it makes me wonder why that phrase or word.

Yes! And Beacon. An odd word used by both AG in the initial family video statement, and echoed by Nanos in one of his statements.

Her post from February 24th, 2026 stood out to me:

"Someone knows how to find our mom and bring her home.

Call 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) — you can remain anonymous —
or find a way to reach out to me. "

It makes me think she they believe SG was the reason/target.

Also note she uses the FBI tip number only. I kind of wondered about that. Does Pima County not have any kind of tip line?

I think things like "you are not alone" is religious referencing. I heard a negotiator say that often religion is mixed into family messages in an attempt to draw out the humanity by showing that they may have messed up but they will still have God.

This might track. "Coming home" is often a reference to a peaceful death or going to heaven. "Bring her home" might be a reference to letting them put her to rest. This would be based in personal preference as opposed to speaking to whoever did this, imo then. Unless they are hoping that someone who knows something is also religious and that also tracks.

I keep thinking, if this is a sociopathic person who did this, pleading to their better self would not do much, but pandering to their ego would. ("sophisticated" ransom notes). IMO BTK got caught because he could not face dying without the world knowing who he was and what he did. It seems like playing to that kind of mentality might get somewhere, but that might be further down the road. JMO

Although my working theory regarding this case doesn’t involve a delusional, obsessed SG stalker, I can’t get past wondering if a majority of SG’s stilted phrases in the various posted videos were given to her as his requirements - that she had to somehow work certain phrases into her messages… giving the perp a feeling of power, rendering her a puppet. Or, perhaps, these are phrases pulled from letters or songs sent to her previously by an out of control stalker - written out by FBI advisors in a way to put the perp on notice that they know who he is.
Consider:
kind, loyal, fiercely loving woman goodness and light.
spunky and clever.
cover her with kisses.
fun, and adventure.

I agree that religion may not be effective with perps who would do something like this. If it was intended it hasn't been fruitful.

I think your right about DR because even with his admission he insisted on detailing his crimes in court. You don't get any weirder than him. This could be a narcissist too. In which case, playing to the ego sounds like it would be the most impactful.

I've believed ever since the February 8th, 2026 video "return her so we can celebrate her" (paraphrasing) the family had accepted that she was deceased.

*Side note: Awhile back, I'd read an account of Larry Gene Bell who had abducted a girl and proceeded to call and/or write her family to torment them, leading them to believe she was still alive. In reality, he'd murdered her within hours of the abduction. I'm gonna have to give that one a re-read.
