Just a couple more articles with each one containing different little snippets of info.

Lots of information dribbling out, which is good, I haven't got anything new to add, just a query. This old story from May 2023 talks about two brothers being suspects, I think this was after the decision to turn it into a murder inquiry, and the Gardai giving up on Enniskerry and Johnny Foxes pub. The hotel room alibi was for the Friday evening, and was apparently created a few months after she disappeared, which would conveniently have ruled either of them out of being at Johnny Foxes pub, but when that line of inquiry was abandoned all they had left was the concoction of a dodgy alibi which puts them both together most of that day, and therefore if they were together it's a logical conclusion that they could both be suspects. I guess at that point perhaps one of them thought it was time to withdraw the alibi. I guess that's why there is a focus on one suspect and not two now.

Man quizzed abroad about Annie McCarrick says he and his brother are innocent. Quite a long quote.

I was just about to post this , bit of a twist from yesterday's article stating he had withdrawn his alibi for the hotel stay on the night she disappeared

Yes, my guess is the man in France is in a difficult situation, it's quite a long quote from him, he seems upset he was considered a suspect, but there's also family loyalty. If, and of course it's a big if, but if the alibi was concocted to protect his brother, but potentially has the effect of incriminating both of them, where does that leave him? Let's hope the Gardai get their act together on this. Seeing as the brother in France and his girlfriend were supposed to have dinner with Annie on the Saturday evening, it would be such an evil act to have murdered her the day before I prefer to believe he is innocent, but what I would prefer to be the case is irrelevant here.

Annie’s mother Nancy McCarrick said she was “hopeful” about the search.

“I’m just waiting to hear from the gardaí.

“They said they’re going to work all week on the excavation. I am very hopeful — that’s exactly how I feel, hopeful.”

The excavation is obviously very throughout they are already working there about a week and a half and propose to be working another one week at least .

I feel when the brother withdrew his alibi and spoke with gardai in France, he didn't expect the papers to report he was a suspect too

Apparently he is quite ill and probably wanted to rid himself of anything that was weighing on his conscience, now it would seem it has entangled him further .

It is so hard for someone to come forward with information in a case especially when years have past and the case has gone cold . I feel journalists jumping to be the one who has the scoop or generate clicks don't be thinking of the bigger picture and the ramifications a story could have on people coming forward in other cases or indeed this one .

I thought HB was very brave coming forward and other people may have thought if he can do it i can. Now after the breaking of the suspect article I'm actually thinking if hypothetically I was holding information that could help a case I may be scared to come forward in case I was also now in his position

I only started following this disappearance recently, and when I first saw the story I was struck by how many different strands to it, and how confusing the timeline was. I believe the Gardai said two brothers were suspects in early 2023, around the time they turned it into a murder case, so I think that is the source of HB's original grievance. I think HB is caught between family loyalty and a desire to solve this case, for some families family loyalty is massively important, this might be such a family, which might have been the driver of the creation of the rather 'inventive' alibis. My guess is HB doesn't want to implicate his brother, but also doesn't want to continue to be regarded as a suspect. The pressure on the Gardai to resolve this case is not going to go away, but also the story of his brother's relationship with AM, whatever form it took, is also now a big part of the story, and can't be ignored. Assuming HB is the innocent friend thrown into this situation because of an invite to a meal the evening after AM's disappearance I can see it's difficult for him, but a proper investigation is long overdue and must take its course.

The fact neither Ms Carrick’s remains, nor any other evidence, were discovered there is a blow to the investigation team, which has carried out significant work to try to solve the case since it was upgraded from a missing persons inquiry to a murder investigation two years ago.

In reality the former investigation team should have questioned this suspect further .Imo they allowed too much time to elapse between her going missing and this massive dig .

I realise new information had come to the fore but this guy has been a suspect for a long time . So moo is they have left it too late to find her remains. And we have HB seemingly back tracking by saying both him and his brother PB are innocent ( link in previous post ) why then retract your alibi ?

I agree, most information was there in the beginning IMO. Too much ignored, too many people not listened to, those false sightings. The only information available to the public back then was in newspapers and Garda Patrol (not sure what it's called these days). There were no doorbell cameras, no dash cams, no go pros, no discussion groups, no social media, no one to discuss or challenge what was or was not happening. I very much doubt Annie was brought back to that house. IMO she was dumped somewhere near where she was killed and it's far too late to find her remains. JMO
