Resolved Ireland - Blonde girl, 7, removed from Dublin Roma family, 22 Oct 2013

Glad this thread hasn't descended into Roma-bashing, as I've seen elsewhere. With the quality posters on here that I know, this is not at all a surprise, but is good to see, nevertheless. Lots of links but little judgement of a people passed. This is a good thing.
Just for the sake of context, this was a post done earlier for Hollye's Dublin Roma thread, before it was blended with this one.

Wish they would publish a photo of this child.
An article I read said not until DNA comes back to rule out that she is the child of these parents.

Girl removed from Roma family in Dublin

He explained the circumstances under which gardaí can enter a home and take a child out of a family.

He said that if there is an immediate threat to the health or safety of a child and if gardaí have reasonable grounds to believe that this is the case, they can take the child to a place of safety.

You know I'm not sure I agree with them taking the child, I want to see a picture of her.

You won't see any pictures of her unless DNA tests show that she's not related to the family who has her. They're not going to expose a 7 year old to the glare of the world media unless they have solid reason to suspect she is a missing child.

Presumably they will have searched the whole property, we don't know what else they found (drugs, weapons, 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬) which may lead or them feeling this child is at risk. We also don't know the criminal background of the 'parents' which may also lead to her being at risk.

<o/t, yuk, just saw on the above link that poachers killed 300 elephants with cyanide :( >:stormingmad: >

No, we don't know what they've found; but we should not assume a Roma family has "a criminal background" until that is established in MSM.

I didn't mean to suggest that a Roma family necessarily has a criminal background, just that it may be a reason or part of the reason this little girl was taken from the parents.

Yes, I do see, but when you mention in a post drugs, weapons, 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬, and criminal background, none of which do we know from MSM, plus use inverted commas around the word 'parents,' one might get the idea that this case is other than what it is at present, and that in effect all of Roma may be being tarred with that same brush.

I was merely suggesting reasons they may have for keeping this child away from her parents, because the previous poster wondered if they could keep her just because she doesn't look like her parents, I wasn't saying that all Roma are criminals! <modsnip>

  • #33
Because they more than likely had to have reason other than 'this child doesn't look like her mum or dad' to be investigating the family.

Are we still waiting for a court order for a picture ?

Is that a case of waiting to prove this family have her illegally ?

  • #35
They're waiting for DNA results. There won't be any need to release a picture if she isn't missing.

In this report they say the following:

The gardai had prior dealings with the family and they decided to visit the house in Tallaght in south county Dublin at around 4:30pm yesterday afternoon to check out the report.

The bolded bit is LE double speak for saying that the individuals are known to the police. That usually means they have been investigated for criminal behaviour or domestic disturbances in the past.

On the news this morning it said that the family freely offered a DNA sample, and the Gardai have said they will expedite the results so we should have answers on this one in a few days time.

I have a feeling this child is theirs.

I think so too, the family were very quick to offer DNA samples.
