A man has been arrested by gardai investigating the disappearance and murder of Jo Jo Dullard.

*****
In 2020, her case was upgraded to a murder inquiry. This morning, gardai arrested a man in his 50s, and he's being questioned at a Garda station in Co. Kildare.

This is positive news. I really hope it goes the distance for the sake of her family. And her, of course.

''She was just one of a string of disappearances that haunted a corner in the eastern part of Ireland in the 1990s commonly referred to as the Vanishing Triangle - and, like the others, was never seen again.

In a major update on the case, police have now arrested an unnamed man on suspicion of Jo Jo's murder - with searches for her body taking place in Wicklow, near the Kildare border. ''

I really hope Jojo's family can get answers now and whoever is responsible for her death and the suffering they've caused her family for almost 30 years will be brought to justice.

'A number of witnesses were brought by gardaí to the dig site for evidence linked to Jo Jo Dullard’s disappearance outside Grangecon, Co Wicklow last Thursday.'

'although there were no direct witnesses to Jo Jo’s disappearance, there were people who had observed things in the days and weeks afterwards who had subsequently spoken with gardaí.'

Photos in link show how extensive the search/dig is.

Gardaí said they would not comment further on the searches for operational reasons but added that the Dullard family had been updated on the investigation.

“There are some promising leads that we will continue to work on,” said a garda source.

However, they warned that there has been no “breakthrough” which will result in immediate answers for Ms Dullard’s family or charges being brought. “There is a lot of work left to do.”

Gardai have intelligence that Murphy had visited the land where this week’s dig operation is taking place – and are examining the theory he may have buried at least one car deep in the sand.
